  1. congrats! i know that you must be excited
  2. ouch, i am so sorry. i too have fibromyalgia, and i am hoping the weight loss helps. but as far as your son goes, i know he is your son, he is family, but at the same time, you two are grown-you are doing this for YOU-so if he cant support you or accept your options, then that is all him.
  3. i totally understand how you feel, i get the same thing. i am 5'9" 339 pounds, and a size 20. ive told some friends and they all say "why? you don't look that big" or "why cant you just eat right and exercise" its like HELLO! if it was that freaking simple for me, i would have been lost the weight! don't you think i have tried that already?!?!
  4. I think I am another fortunate one. I went on my seminar on 8/27. Had my first appt with the Surgeon on 8/31. I was supposed to have my Nutritionist/Pysch eval on 9/8 but due to a mix up with the scheduling on the offices behalf I have been pushed back to 9/28. My lifestyle/nutrition classes are 10/14, 10/21, and 10/28. I have Delaware Physicians Care which is a part of Medicaid. I was put on the 3 month "plan" I guess you can call it. And as far as my diet goes, I have to lose 6.9 pounds, and I have lost 4 already
  5. congrats! this must be so exciting for you
  6. ok thanks :frown: my nutritionist/psychologist appt is on september 10! then i start my classes on the 24th . so we are moving forward
  7. My thing is, what is it that they fail you on? I mean I am a pretty positive person in general, optimistic even, I have a good outlook on life, but I have come to the point where I am not happy in my body any more. I don't want to speak the honest truth to them and have them fail me when I know that after years of dieting and exercising and not being able to lose weight/keep the weight off I need the band to help me lose the weight finally.
  8. this thread is freaking amazing and so inspirational. i am so glad i read this! here are mine never again will i have to shop in the plus size store when all the stuff that i want is actually in the regular sizes never again will i be afraid to meet up with old friends because i am so much bigger than i was the last time they saw me never again will i be afraid to walk down the street with my husband in fear of people commenting on how big i look never again will people ask me how many months along i am because they think i am pregnant never again will i be afraid to go to my favorite place in the world (disney world) and not getting on the rides because i am too big never again will i sit on an airplane and have my body overlap onto someone elses seat never again will i have CHUB RUB! never again will i feel unsexy!
  9. this is exactly the thread that i needed to vent in. i am PETRIFIED that once i lose the weight my husband will not find me attractive any more, and that it will alter our relationship. we are a little backwards lol, he loves plump girls, and that is part of what brought us together. the fact that i was plump and happy with my size-and he loved my size. now grant it, he is the one who started suggesting that i lose weight when i started getting sick and what not, but i have this fear that he will not find me attractive. after the weight loss seminar we talked about it, and he told me that he is very supportive, and what makes me happy makes him happy.i just hope that he means it
  10. I'm on Medicare-the name of my plan is Delaware Physicians Care. I am on Medicare because at first I was out on sick leave and had no income, and now I am on social security disability. I was speaking to an agent from my insurance, and she did verify that my insurance (Medicare) will cover lap band surgery as long as the patient meets certain criteria such as weight, bmi, diseases, etc. I go in on Monday for my consultation with the surgeon :w00t:
  11. Congrats! I am glad everything is going so well for you :w00t:
  12. thanks for the support. i went to the seminar last night, and i was glad that i did. i had my husband and my sister in law (who is now thinking about getting the surgery herself) there to support me, and it helped alot. for some reason, i felt like breaking down and crying, especially when the doctor started talking about how for some, it is not as simple as exercising and dieting to lose weight. i mean most people have this idea that if you want to lose weight, exercise and diet is the trick, they think it is that easy and it's not. my consultation is on monday :w00t: and i am very excited. when speaking to the doctor at the seminar, he basically said i am a shoe in because of my weight, my bmi, my sicknesses that i have (diabetes, high blood pressure, high choleterol, pcos, fibromyalgia, sleep apnea) so im real excited for my appt!
  13. great videos, and i totally congratulate you on your band, your weight loss, and the courage to post those videos to share on your journey. its always nice when i see people close to my age sharing their experiences!
  14. What you mentioned, I already Know which is why the lapband is my last resort, because even with the exercise and dieting, i still keep weight on and continue getting sick, so getting the lap band will aid in weight loss, and make me better.
  15. So I am new here, hello! I am 23 years old. 343 pounds, 5'10" and a size 22. After months of research and a very tough decision making process I have today took the first step in making a big change in my life. On Thursday, I go in to have a consultation with a surgeon to discuss the lapband and talk about the process. Frankly I am scared and excited at the same time. I am excited because FINALLY I will be able to lose weight. After years of diets and such, and being unhappy with the diets, I have accepted myself as always being the big girl. But in accepting and loving myself, I realize that losing weight is crucial to my health (I have diabetes, pcos, fibromyalgia, high blood pressure). I am scared because after years of being big, my personality has been big also! So I am torn, but I know that this is something that needs to be done!
