Hi, Just checkin out your photos. You look so great. I can't wait to see my collar bone again. Getting there.
  5. From surgery date to first fill 10lbs.. It seems crazy that we do not drop boat loads of weight at the begining doesnt it? I have never figured that out. One would think the weight would just fall off..... FAST.. right after surgery. But....????? I did not have Great weight loss until after the third fill. MAN, that was intense! That is when I had MAJOR RESTRICTION. Just be sure to stick with a routine of getting your fills, and excersise. After you are done with liquid/mushie phase be sure to eat Protein first, then green veggies. Thats when the weight really comes off.
  6. My surgeon wants me to get all of my protien with food and not supplements. It seems to be working! I always eat my Protein first, 3 to 4 oz then green veggies, then a starch. (usually only 2 tbsp of starch) The idea of eating your protein is that it, actually fills your upper pouch up and stays there for a while and does not immediatly slide down to the larger pouch. I am not suggesting that supplements are wrong, just sharing what I have learned. I average 60 to 80 grams a day.
  7. I am glad that you are doing well. Just wear elastic pants for a while until your tummy heals. Try eating creamy potato soups and chew the potato really good, gives you a sense that you actually ate something filling!

This is the hardest part. In a few short weeks, you will be able to eat some mushies, and that helps so much.

I have some good recipes for you once your ready for the regular food phase.

  8. Just dropping you a line! How are you doing?

  9. How are you feeling?

  10. Love ur pic.. So cute!

  11. Restriction for me.. 1st fill...not really 2nd fill.... a little 3rd fill... .. a little more 4th fill......YOWZA! Everyone is very different. My fills are NOT aggresive at all. .5 ccs. However, I am very sensitive to them. You just have to tweak "your band" to fit "your needs" It will happen, just make sure to adjust it!
  12. PAPAYA ENZYMES..Walmart by the vitamins, they are for digestive health. It helps in the breaking down of food. They seem to help.

Feeling stuck SUCKS! It feels like your esophugus just closes up, but with food lodged in there, sometimes it wont come up or go down for quit a while! Eventullay it does come (up or down) but it hurts and it sucks really bad! It is hard to really put into words.

I was able to eat bread (very little) and tortillas up until my 3rd fill. Now... There is no way!

  13. Go to wal mart and buy some 1cup ziplock bowls. Put everything you eat in those, whatever it is. Try to stick to that size.

When you to the reg phase of food, do 4 oz of meat (always eat your protein 1st) then a 1/2 cup of whatever else. Green veggies is your best choice.

  14. Make sure you have some Gas-X Strips on hand for the "trapped gas" Take like 3 to 4 of those, otherwise they dont work. Try and get up and walk as much as possible, it really helps get things moving. LOL

Dont try and lay down flat when you get home, prop your self up in a recliner or on the couch, with pillows.

Get some Papaya Enzymes, for when you start reg. food. They help when you get stuck.

Take before photos (front, back, side) and have someone help with your measurments, so you keep track of your progress.

  15. U are going to be so happy once you do it! Lemme know if you have any qestions or just need some-one to talk to. :-)

    Hunger

BobbieND I am with you.. I miss "really eating" sometimes. Not enough to regret my decision! Again, just keeping it real!

    Hunger

I still find myself feeling very hungry at times. I never have the sensation of feeling "full" now.. just satisfied. When I am "very hungry" I do get bummed out when I can't pig out. Just being honest here. However, today I am healthier, happier, and thinner. It has been well worth it! Good luck to you on your journey!

    Crockpot Mexican Chicken Recipe

I love kidney beans Thanks for sharing!
  21. Hey just read your thread. You are an inspiration!

  22. NoName-AZ

What do you eat for lunch?

Mexican crockpot chicken and beans.. Sounds good. Can I get the recipe?
  23. My pain after the surgery wasn't bad really...What sucked was the pain from the "trapped gas" That lasted about 10days or so. It happens becasue they blow your stomach up before surgery so they can see for the surgery. The gas eventually works its way out.. (ha ha) You just have to get up and walk, and take gas-x strips.

I went back to work 1 week later, and yes I worked during the Liquid phase, but it wasnt hard, because I was eating creamy soups, jello, pudding, popsicles. Its not like your stuck with broth. :-)

    Hope this helps!

  24. Hey there... I never saw this message until now..because you posted it on your page and not mine.. (its okay) I just wanted to apologize for not getting back to you sooner. By the way thanks for the pic comment. :-) I feel so good!

Doc.. Juarez phn number is 602-252-1510. Just call them and find out out when you can attend a seminar since that is your first step.

Doc Juarez's bed side manner is not the greatest. He is however open to any questions..or concerns. I honestly saw him 3 times only. At my pre-op appt, we discussed me having the surgery, he answered my questions, gave me advice, and told me I would be a good candidate for this surgery. Next time was in the hospital right before surgery. 3rd time, at my post op appt. Thats it!

Honestly, my relationship is more with the nurse and M/A at the office. Nurse Andrea, does all your fills, and the M/A schedules appts. They are both really awesome!

    forget calories?

I do not count calories at all. I measure my food. I never eat more than 1cup each meal. I try to stick to Protein..Protein...Protein...1st.... then green veggies. I still have some starches sometimes, potatoes, and whole wheat angel hair Pasta, but not very often. What I am doing is working for me.. I love my band! I recently discovered cooking bags. It makes any meat very soft. Love them. Good luck on your journey.
