  1. Thank-you all for your thoughts and prayers. You all are so sweet and I love this group!

I only have one thing to say...I AM LOVING MY BAND!!! This restriction is FANTASTIC!!! I am eating about 1/2cup of food at each meal and I am full. When my pouch is full it feels like a knot in my chest and if I try to keep eating it just gets worse. No PB's yet (knock on wood)! I got a little discouraged a couple times because I couldn't eat more. My eyes were bigger than my stomach (literally;)), but I am so glad that I can't. THANK-YOU BAND!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I am hoping I can keep this restriction at least til my next appt. which is June 4th!

I went jogging for the first time last week! I am still geeked that I was able to do it!!! lala3000 you are AWESOME girl!!! Thank-you so much! You told me I could do it and I DID!!! I'll be ready again on Tuesday! I'll try to keep up this time! :biggrin1:

    Have a Great Week Everyone!!!

  2. WOW...I've missed alot of postings, but it sounds like everyone is doing great. I've been running around in circles the last few days. My cousin just passed away so I've been trying to make arrangements to get to Mississippi for the funeral next weekend. This wouldn't be a big issue if we didn't already have flights going to Las Vegas the same weekend. Yes, we had to cancel our trip to Las Vegas Mother's Day Weekend! :cry Besides being charged a $100 change fee for switching flights. The cost of the plane tickets to Jackson is triple the cost that we paid for Las Vegas! Jackson, MS isn't exacly a vacation spot or a popular destination unless of course it's Mother's Day Weekend!!! We just decided to take the credit for the flights and use it some other time. We're taking the train to Jackson!

Lapband News: Well, I was extremely tight after my 2nd fill on Monday. I tried to tough it out, but I was even having a hard time drinking Water. I was sweating profusley and feeling very weak. When I went to my group meeting Tuesday night, I got mixed opinions on whether I should wait it out or have some taken out. After the meeting the nurse was still there so I told her what I was feeling and she immediately said I was too tight. She said I am so glad you said something because they've had some who wait until they are dehydrated or worse. Anyhow, I had .5cc removed so now I'm at 2.25cc in a 4cc band. I feel alot better and I still have good restriction.

  3. I know that it wasn't exercise but it was worth a shot. I plan on doing Richard tonight (Love Sweating to the Oldies) if my legs hold out otherwise I will be on the recumbent (sp) bike. So, how do I find out what my target heart rate should be?

Here's a basic chart I just found online. To check your heart rate take your pulse for 10 seconds and multiply by 6. Thats' funny this chart starts at age 40????

    <TABLE class=MsoNormalTable style="mso-padding-alt: 2.25pt 2.25pt 2.25pt 2.25pt; mso-cellspacing: 0in" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=1><TBODY><TR style="mso-yfti-irow: 0; mso-yfti-firstrow: yes"><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 2.25pt; PADDING-LEFT: 2.25pt; BORDER-LEFT-COLOR: #e0dfe3; BORDER-BOTTOM-COLOR: #e0dfe3; PADDING-BOTTOM: 2.25pt; WIDTH: 25%; BORDER-TOP-COLOR: #e0dfe3; PADDING-TOP: 2.25pt; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; BORDER-RIGHT-COLOR: #e0dfe3" width="25%">

  4. Today (and tomorrow) at work we are doing a program called Water Works. We have 800-900 5th graders come to our park and do different activities all have to do with Water. All these kids come throught the aquarium (where I work) and I get to walk around the tanks from 9am to 1:30pm non-stop. Now 22 laps around the aquarium makes 1 mile, I did about 52 laps today. I had to keep stoping to answer questions about the fish and our 70 lb snapping turtle. I also lost count of how many times I had to yell "Stop running" or "Don't tap/pound on the glass". So my question is, Can this count as my 45 min exercise for the day?

Remember that a true workout is when your heart rate increases to your target heart rate. If you are able to recite your full name, address, and phone number without running out of breath or panting afterwards you are not working out hard enough!

  5. Thanks AfrykanViolet, I workout at a gym and I also ride my bike. I was stuck at 252lbs for 3 weeks and low and behold this past week I lost 5lbs!!! Keep at it and keep moving...that scale is going to move!

Janine, I think we're the only ones that use the name "Marchies", but I should have at least put 07 in the original message. I'll see if I can go back and add it.

Juli, Congrats on the NSV!!! :)

Thanks Tracy! Welcome to Bandland...you finally made it!!! I hope your surgery was a success! I'll be peeking over at the April thread to see how you're doing!

Guns, LLSibley, and anyone else having trouble cutting and pasting...don't worry about it. Just give us a daily or weekly update. We wanna see!!!

kuebel j, my5grlz, and medge, I'm sending some "will power" vibes your way as you all wait for your fills!

    Hazelbunny, size 32/34 to a size 24!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!! :clap2:

  6. and I am definitely restricted...maybe a little too much! I was at 1.5cc in a 4cc band after my 1st fill. Now I'm at 2.75cc. I'm such a worry wart. I said the same thing the last time, but this time I mean it. I am REALLY TIGHT!!! Drinking Water isn't a problem, but it took me 2 hours to drink a 4oz Protein Shake. After taking a sip, it would kind of sit there for a few seconds before going through the band. The warm cream of broccoli Soup I had for lunch went down a little easier. I'm hearing all these gurgling noises that I didn't hear after my first fill. I'm not sure if this is what "good restriction" is supposed to fell like or not. I'll be moving to solid foods on Thursday so we'll see! :omg:

  7. Hello Marchies,

Here we are in May guys!!! April has been a tough month for some of us, but better days are ahead of us in MAY! :girl_hug: On the road to reaching our "sweet spot" there may be some road blocks,:think but it's nothing that we Marchies can't handle! :girl_hug: So, let's get our bodies moving and let's see those pounds drop! :girl_hug:

  8. Tammy and Nurseamy,

Goodluck on your fills. So am I getting this right that you only have to wait a couple weeks for fill 2?

Every surgeon is different. I am allowed to go back every 2 weeks for a fill, but I have heard of others that have to wait up to 6 weeks for another fill.

  9. Hey All. I just got that Marching band. ;) Duh. Very cute. Well, we will have 31 days to use Marching in May and then time to change it again.:)

    "Marching into Bikinis":embarassed:

    "The Marching Bandsters":biggrin1:

"Marching to Size 8";) Although 12 is fine with me. I was an 8 when I was 8.

Reprogrammed my daughters old I POD yesterday, so I was rocking on the eleptical this morning.

TammyJ: I did 4 mini crunches this morn. One more each day. It would not be on my "TO DO" list, if I didn't see it here.

I'm loving all of those names...and size 12 is fine with me too! 4 crunches is GREAT!!! :clap2: You'll be doing a 100 in no time!!! :biggrin1:

  10. Well, I went and did it on Friday--I signed up to walk in this year's Arthritis Walk. It's funny. I can't remember the last time I've done charity walks of any kind; I know it's been years. I used to do the March of Dimes ones every year when I was in school, and then a couple of times for the animal shelters later on before I got really big and then my knees got messed up, then of course I had to quit. Now I really feel like getting back into the swing of things again.

There's a one-mile and three-mile option; I am going to go for the three-mile one. I've been walking more often and working out about 30 minutes a day now to prepare myself for the day (the walk is May 19)...and if it rains, well, phooey on that--I'll just take my umbrella!;)

    That is FANTASTIC Lori!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

  11. NURSEAMY; You had a fill 3 weeks ago?? WOW. You'll be getting your second fill when most of us seem to getting our FIRST FILL. I Guess you shall be our guru.

Down to 229 this AM. I was 236LBS.. only 8 Days ago. So it seems my 800 calories/day was paying off. That FITDAY.COM and journaling my calories seems to hold me accountable.

Kyethra; My mini goal is also 220 by 5/20--family function.

    Hope ya'll have a lovely low-cal day.

Guns you are so AWESOME and MOTIVATING!!! I've been counting calories and trying to stay under 1000cal/day. This past week I've been doing pretty good. 5 out of 7 days is not bad! :) So far, I journal w/ paper and pencil. I think I'm gonna try fitday to keep track of my calories.

  12. Josie, sounds like you're starting to come around. The Protein Shakes will give you the calories and energy you need. I'm glad you're doing better!

No, I still don't have a name for our next thread. So far, it's 1 vote for Marchies in May and 1 for March into May. Anyone else?

Janine, I had my first fill 2 weeks ago and I did get some restriction. I go for my second fill tomorrow so I'm hoping this will be it!!! I have never PB'd yet, but I definitely know the band is there. I've had the "stuck" feeling a couple times...but it doesn't last very long and eventually passes through. The amount of restriction felt is different for everyone. It also depends on the size of your band and the amount of fill you receive. Some Dr's only add a little at a time and some Dr's fill aggressively (this is my Dr.) Good luck on Thursday and let us know how it goes!

nurseamy and Mrs. Husker, Hang in there you guys!

Juli, I am loving the video clips. Thank-you so much! I can get started on some of those right away!

Kyethra, WOW...you had an interesting day. I know you haven't had much of an appetite so that day is to be expected. I'm glad you were able to look at yourself, dust yourself off and get ready for a new day. I like your food strategies for staying on track. You are going to do GREAT!!!

  13. Calories: Cantelope 55; HB Egg 75, Asparagus 50, Salmon 200, Veggies 50, Slice of pizza 300, Healthy Choice Ice cream Bar 90

Chewable vitamens 30 . Went a little over yesterday cause I was saving up for PIZZA. LOL. Lots of Water and Gum.:bored

I am concerned that the Dr. will think I'm doing fine without a fill, but I know I cannot keep this pace up much longer. The fill and guns n roses and an upcoming family function(Mini - Goal) are keeping me on track.

TammyJ: I DID 3 CRUNCHES TODAY !!!! I'm a little worried though, how do yours feeL???

As long as I do them on the exercise ball I feel fine. Maybe you can try the mini crunches like Juli mentioned...laying back and rolling back and forth on the ball (i think that's what she said...I've never tried it, but it sound like a good way to get those stomach muscles ready for crunches). Also, you may have to wait awhile to start crunches. I'm not sure when you had surgery, but it takes some people longer that others to completely heal especially in the port area.

  14. Mary, that does seem strange that you had restriction before the fill and not now! Give it a few more days, you may be surprised. Hang in there!

Wecome Back Guns!!! I do remember the name. I am an 80's child so I love Guns and Roses too! I can see how their music can get you pumped! :boxing:Sounds like you have a game plan and it is really paying off! Congratulations!!! Our challenges may not be much of a challenge for you! :biggrin1: Stick around and keep posting!

Juli, You are on a roll! I need to keep up! I use the exercise ball for crunches and stretching. I avoid floor exercises, but I may eventually have to get down there to tone up my legs unless I find a better way to do them. Any ideas?

Mrs. Husker, reading about your mother/daughter day made me feel a little mushy inside. I have 2 beautiful boys, but there's something extra special about a mother/daughter bond. My mother and I are best friends. For the past 4 years we have been going on a trip for Mother's Day. It's become sort of a tradition. This year it's Vegas! I get a little sad that I won't have anyone to share that with when I get older. It might not be so bad if I had a sister, but I don't have one of those either. My best friend and I have been friends for almost 20 years and we are very close so not all is lost! You are truly blessed!

late, I had something similar sticking out of my port scar. It was very little and it didn't bother me. It's gone now so I assumed it was a part of the suture that eventually dissolved. It sounds like yours is more noticeable. Let us know what your Dr says. I hope its nothing. No carbonation for me...I'm gassy enough! :biggrin1:

Kyethra, I am glad you are doing better. You'll be back in the gym in no time!

Hazelbunny, feel better soon and WOOOHOOOOO on the 6lb loss!!! :clap2:

Sophie, Congrats on getting started on the workouts. It feels soooo good doesn't it!!!

Sue, cleaning the bike with a baby wipe...they are so cute at that age!

Thanks everyone for joining in on the challenge. If anyone has their own personal challenge they want to do like Protein intake, 20min. exercise for beginners, or 1 hour workouts for the pros. Whatever it is, please add it to your signature. We'd love to follow your progress!

Have a Great Weekend Marchies!!! :)

  15. I have to share this with you guys,...I had a very funny moment yesterday. Since you're like family, I feel comfortable telling it.

So I was sitting on the toilet and use to when I sat there I couldn't see my lower belly over my upper belly fat roll. So yesterday I'm sitting there and I look down at my scars, like I normally do, and OMG..there's my lower belly. I can see right over the top belly!!! LOL I know this is a stupid story but I was so tickled over it, I had to share.

Hope you all have a great weekend. :-)

I'd be tickled too! AWESOME!!!

  16. Today I woke up hungry.

It doesn't help that we are having a special lunch at work. In theory it should be okay. Smoked Brisket- I even made a BBQ Sauce with reduced sugar- but I'm terrified I'm going to eat TOO MUCH. Why? because it's so unusual to break out the smoker and make this kind of food. I work in a cafeteria...yeah, it's stupid hard at times.

So I'm thinking perhaps I can put some up for later meals for myself so I don't feel like I'll not have it again for a long, long time and I can eat sensibly. I wish I had a fill, so the ability to eat too much was not there. Come on May 7th!!!

Seems like fancy food, difficult, or rare food is my weakness now. I've gotten past the cake and Cookies phase (at least for now). I baked choc chip Cookies for my daughter's tea party yesterday and didn't even want one.:omg: I was stunned! Also, Pasta and carbs don't appeal much.

    Thanks for letting me fret.

I found a really good BBQ sauce at the grocery store. It's KC Masterpiece Low Calorie Classic Blend only 10 cal for 2 Tbsp and no sugar and I can't tell a difference in the taste. It is sooooo good! Treat yourself to the brisket...it'll be OK. You probably won't eat near as much as you would have BEFORE being banded. Hey, at least its protein! :biggrin1:

  17. If the sun decides to stay out the rest of the day, I would like to get in my two mile walk; otherwise, it is going to look like a Walk Away the Pounds day as well as clean the bathroom and kitchen. lol.gif

I love Walk Away the Pounds...she talks a little too much, but it's a great workout especially if it's raining out!

  19. It's almost May you guys! I thought of a few challenges we could do to give everyone some choices. If you would like to participate, cut and paste the title and whatever challenge you chose into your signature. I am chosing 30 min. exercise and 100 crunches. Make sure you check with your Dr. about the crunches. I've heard some say no crunches anywhere from 1 month to 3 months so check to be sure. Here they are...

  20. TammyJ, I think we are bound to stall and go to the 1-2 lbs/week losses now. That is so hard to deal with, though, after the initial quick weight loss. After my TOM and the swelling had gone down...I took measurements and was happily surprised!

You know, I didn't take my measurements at all. I guess I should have done that before surgery. I took pictures, but not measurements. It's not too late since I have a long ways to go! :bored

  21. oh, im up too 20 min 4x a week on my gazell. thanksHummm... I found some old(not expired) Phen in a drawer. I have to w8 till the 14th of may for my first fill. I really want to loose 5 lbs before then. Dose anyone see any problem with takeing these with the band? I was on them for a yr, they only worked on me for 2 months. I kept hopeing, and throwing my $ away on them for some reason. I havent lost a thing for over 2 weeks. Any thoughts on what i can do to rev up my motabolism naturaly? my cals are good. 900-1200. just not loosing ugh. Thanks for any advice!

I took phentermine for years to curb my appetite and was able to lose alot of weight each time. The only problem is once you stop taking them your appetite comes back and so does the weight. I have been pretty hungry lately and relying on will power right now (which is not great). I have some restriction but not enough. Luckily, I go back for fills every 2 weeks if needed, but for those who have to wait awhile between fills or even for the first fill it just might do the trick. I just read another thread and someone's Dr. actually prescribed phentermine to help him through "bandster hell". If your Dr. is pretty flexible he just might say YES! It's worth a try! I hear switching up your calorie intake from day to day or even going back to liquids for a couple days may jump start your weight loss again.
