  1. Very well put Juli...you are right on the money. It takes more than the band and good restriction for all this to work. Being banded has changed my whole mind set when it comes to food. Sometimes, I have to remind myself to eat something. Foods I used to love don't even appeal to me anymore. I still like my sweets, but now one or two bites is enough to satisfy my craving, not because my band is stopping me from eating more (because we all know the junk goes down easily), but because I tell myself that that's enough. As far as exercise...I always wanted to be one of those people who felt guilty if I didn't exercise and NOW I AM!!! In my mind, the band will not work if I don't exercise. I know that's not totally true, but when I decided to get banded I also made the decision that exercise will become a permanent part of my life. It is not a option for me. I have to do it!!!

  2. Just checking in on this first day of July!!! Time is really flying and I can't believe we're 4 months out already! I'm sure everyone has their own personal goals in mind for this month. I seem to be consistently losing at lease 10 lbs a month sometimes more so my goal is to lose another 10lbs during the month of July. I'm thinking about taking advantage of the personal trainer at the gym I attend, but he is soooo cute!!! I'd feel more comfortable if the guy was ugly...isn't that crazy?!?! Anyways, it's only $15/hr and I think once a week might really make a difference.

Welcome Back Josie! It's good hearing from you again!

    Congrats on the NSV's Julie!

Welcome Lee4Love! I'm glad you've joined us. I remember talking to you while you were waiting for your surgery date. Congratulations and continued success!!!

  3. :welcome: Cindy! Glad to have you here!

Not much to report with me. I went to see my surgeon last week, but I told him I didn't need a fill. I don't go back until August 27th so hopefully my fill will hold til then. I'm still exercising and still losing pretty good. I've kicked it up a notch with the workouts. Now, I do a 2-3 mile walk/jog and then I go to the gym for weight training so I'm getting about an hour in everyday except Sundays.

    How's the workouts going everyone???

  4. Hi everyone,

I posted a hello post a couple of weeks ago and then went into lurk mode. I had a major sinus infection that ko'd me for 2 weeks.

Anyway I am back now and went for my 2nd fill today. She put 2 cc's in my band (which makes a total of 5.5 cc's). OMG talk about restriction???? I ate 3 forkfuls of the meat off my salad at dinner and almost hacked it all back up. It wasnt pb - I just ate too much. Hopefully we can get this weight loss train moving in the right direction again. I swear I walk, I exercise, I have tried to push myself away from the table but it just was not coming off. I did go get some Isopur and some Amplify from GNC and was excited about it, but my MD said NO Protein drinks! She said Protein Bars are ok but she only wants solids - no liquids. I am confused about this. What is everyone else doing? I want to do whats right...

    Gina

I know everyone's surgeon is different, but does he/she suggest liquids right after your fill? There may a little swelling around your stomach after a fill which is the reason many surgeon say full liquids for the first day or two after a fill.

I don't do liquid Protein at all...except right after a fill. I'm still having nightmares from the entire month of liquids I had to do pre and post surgery. Solid Protein is definitely better. It keeps me feeling fuller than drinking protein. Let your band do some work...eat solids! :hungry:

Your weight is sure to start moving again now that you have good restriction! :gluck:

  5. I saw you waving Juli...:D The weather could have been a little nicer this past weekend, but I hope you enjoyed yourself. The Taste of Chicago starts this weekend. This year will be the first year that I don't get pissed off at the little samples of food that they give. It will be just enough thanks to my BAND! :biggrin1:

I will admit that I am a heavy drinker...always have been. My tolerance level is through the roof and that hasn't changed a whole lot since I've been banded. I am still able to drink quite a bit before feeling the effects. For example I had 7 shots of Patrone (looked like double shots if you asked me) one night while on vacation...anybody else would have been on the floor. I don't drink like that all the time, but the fact that I can handle it makes me wonder..:)

Kyethra, where do you find sugar free Margarita mix?

  6. I can't believe it! As of today's weigh in, I'm official "overweight" rather than "obese" (according to BMI charts). Plus I'm at the 1/2 way point in my journey. I actually cried this morning when I got on the scale and it said 191.

Had my 2nd fill yesterday. My Dr. thought 5cc's would work, and he was happy with my loss. Goal #2 is to reach 180. This will be the lightest I've been in my adult life. I wonder what that will feel like?

Everyone is doing so well! We definately made the right decision to be banded! Lovin' life and Lovin' my band!

:wow2::wow2::wow2: Congratulations Sophie!!! That is so good to hear! Reading about everyone's success makes me believe mine are attainable as well! :)

  7. I had a blast in Puerto Rico, but I am glad to be back. I managed to lose 1 pound while I was on vacation. I really don't know how that happened. I did take advantage of the hotel's fitness center. I'm not a fan of treadmills, but I did 30min. on the treadmill each morning I was there. I found it very hard to stick to lapband rules. I didn't eat a whole lot, it was just the wrong kinds a food plus a lot of drinking. I had my VERY FIRST PB on chips and salsa and a Mojito. I know, I know I should not have been drinking while eating. I have learned my lesson because the drinking made it worse. I did not experience the excrutiating pain that others describe. I felt fullness in my chest and began to feel nauseated, then I started sweating and UH OH!!!! Anyways, I've really missed you guys! I have a lot of posts to read, but I hope everyone is doing well.

  8. To check on my fellow Marchies. Nothing spectacular going on with me and that's probably a good thing...lol! I cancelled my Dr.s appt. on June 4th, mostly because I didn't have anyone to watch my kids, and partly because I still have good restriction and don't need another fill right now. I am trying to get in to see him on the 18th.

My best friend just asked me a few days ago if I wanted to go to Puerto Rico with her. She's traveling there on business and told me all I would have to buy is my plane ticket...she didn't have to ask me twice, I booked my plane ticket that same day! I still had that credit from my cancelled Las Vegas trip so it came in handy! We leave on Tuesday and will be back on Sunday...very last minute, but I am looking forward to it!

    Enjoy your weekend everyone!!!!

  9. Just wanted to say hello

    Still havent weighed myself yet

But I went to buy me a new shirt and skirt and I'm now in 1x's the skirt could have been smaller but I have a lower tummy i have to get rid of first!!!!

    * Later this year Im going to get a reduction/boob job*

let me know what you think about that

    current bra size 44 DDD's

    past before surgery 44 G

I'm thinking about having some boob work done. They are getting smaller as I lose weight. I was a 42DD now I'm a 38D, but they are getting flat and flabby so I'm thinking about having them lifted later on. The lower tummy is a problem area for me and it's been there for as long as I can remember. I've never had a flat tummy. About 10 years ago I had gotten down to 190lbs after doing Jenny Craig and I still had the kangaroo pouch so I may just have to cut it off when I get to my goal weight! :(

  10. I hope everyone is off to a great start for their June Challenges. Sunday is usually my rest day, but since I didn't exercise yesterday I did my 3 mile walk/jog this morning. Sometimes it's a challenge to get started, but once I put my music on and get going I get this adrenaline rush and it feels so good!!!

Welcome Gina!!! We are band sisters! I was banded on the 15th as well!!!

When does eating right become automatic??? Juli, if and when that ever happens will be a miracle. Good restriction helps with the amount of food we can eat, but eating right will always be a struggle for me. I don't like to cook and I'm a junk food junkie. Right now, I am staying in control and I'm very proud of that. As the weather gets warmer there is not a day that goes by that I don't crave a nice thick strawberry shake. Saying "NO" is definitely not automatic and probably never will be. I applaud you for eating just sushi and green beans! :clap2: You made good choices and that is half the battle. Yeah, you probably ate more than you should have, but once you get a fill and get some restriction that problem will be solved too. For someone with no restriction, I think you're doing GREAT!!!

  11. Sorry if I overstepped my boundries instarting this thread. I just felt so good when I got up and wanted to start June with a bang. Since then things have become a reality once again and I'm not getting done what I had really started. Needed a rest so got back on line. Can't wait until all the kids leave this afternoon so I can head out camping.

No, you certainly did not. The thread belongs to no one and anyone can start it. I am glad you started it to switch things up a little! Variety is the spice of life...lol!!! :biggrin1:

  12. I was on my way to start our new thread, but I see we already have one. Thanks LLSibley!

Here's a cutsie Challenge title to put in your signature if you like (of course you can change the challenge to whatever you wish).

Marchies "Fun in the Sun" June Challenge :ip:

    40min Exercise Sessions: 1 of 20 completed

    100 crunches/day: 1 of 20 completed

    Happy Belated Birthday Sophie!!! :happybday:

Have a Great Weekend Everyone!!!

  13. How is everyone doing? WOW...May is almost over and summertime is fast approaching. Juli, I will get our June thread started, but I haven't really thought about challenges. Exercise is pretty much standard. Everyone should challenge themselves a little further than they did this month. I was doing 30min exercise sessions, but I will bump it up to 40min next month. I struggled with the crunches this month and didn't meet my goal, but I will not give up so I will be doing the crunch challenge again. I think everyone doing their own personal challenge is better. Ask yourself...What am I struggling with? It could be Protein intake, Water intake, jogging, running, weight training, etc. Whatever challenge you choose, be sure to put it in your signature so we all can follow along. I think most of us like the name Marchies so I guess we'll stick with Marchies in June, but if anyone has any other creative thread titles to share, please do!

    MARCHIES ROCK!!!!!

  14. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!the scale is in the 60's today!!!!!!!!One set of tens at a time.

I know what you mean about bored with food. It is only my hubby and I so I don't need to do a lot of cooking. I tend to grab something on the way home. Weekends are a bit more fun when we are together with our Girls and ther hubbies ( the guys like a good BBQ) so it feels more worthwhile to cook a great meal, since I will only be eating such a small bit.

WAY TO GO ROSI!!!! :) It feels so good to see those number changing!!! I am looking forward to the BBQ's this weekend. I know potato salad doesn't go along with band rules, but I can't wait to have some (a little won't hurt) and I have my low cal BBQ Sauce all ready!!! :hungry:

  15. I have gotten so bored with food lately that I switched back to liquids yesterday. It was either that or have a feast on any and everything! I just got soooo tired of trying to figure out what to eat! meat, veggies, meat, veggies....UGGGGHHHHH!!!!! I don't do alot of cooking anymore...What for??? So, I can enjoy a 1/2 cup of it?!?! My kids aren't big eaters so most of it is wasted and ends up in the garbage. It is so hard trying to fix meals that go along with the band rules without boring the family so I just don't anymore! What kinds of meals are you guys preparing??? :help:

  16. I'VE BEEN EXTRA AGGRAVATED FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS NOT SURE WHY BUT I HAVE....confused.gif

I WENT TO SEE MY GYNO FOR REGULAR CHECK UP!!

    SHE DIDNT KNOW WHO I WAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I GOT ON THE scale AND IT READ 245......grin.gif JUST LAST WEDNESDAY I WAS 248!!!

MY TOTAL LOSS IS 29 POUNDS IN 11 WEEKS!!!wink.gif

I'M VERY PROUD OF ME!! silly.gif THAT IS 29 POUNDS I WILL NEVER SEE AGAIN!!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!!

Congrats ThickChick!!! You should be very proud! I hope you are feeling better soon. Treat yourself this weekend...do a little pampering or buy yourself something you've been wanting. You deserve it and it may help you feel a little better. :)

  17. Tammy,

Congrats on the 40! Our stats our similar - you're probably 1/2 an inch or 1 inch taller than me, but other than that we have the same highest weight and the same pre-surgery weight. I got my first fill on April 16th, which caused virtually no restriction, and my second fill this past Saturday, which seems to have done the trick. Currently my weight hovers around 237 - 239, the lowest it's been (my scale saves my weight) is 234.2 - that was a good day.

I don't go to the gym or walk or do any other exercise nearly as often as I should. It makes me so angry at myself. I lay the blame on my busy schedule as I own my own business, but I'm just putting it off as always. I've gone to the gym two whole days in a row though, so go me. I HAVE to do better - I simply must.

Laralynn!!!!!! It's good hearing from you! You are doing AWESOME!!! Congrats on the weight loss! Now, that you have good restriction and going to the gym I'll be eating your dust and trying to play catch up soon. :)

  18. I don't know what to do:help:

I was worried 2 weeks ago because my weight was going up and down a couple of pounds and I seemed to be eating more, so I scheduled a fill appt. Over the weekend I seemed to feel quite a bit of restriction and went down another pound, so canceled my appt. Now the last 2 nights I've been really hungry in the evening and ate way too much. :)

My band has 1 cc now & it's the 4cc/smallest band. I'm close to 1/2 way to my goal. I do not want to be too restricted where I can't eat healthy foods. I'm worried that more fills = more possiblity of complications with the band. I really want to lose 13 lbs by mid August. I don't like that I'm doing that thing with my eating again....overeating - then feeling bad and strict dieting again. I'm just concerned it's getting out of control again. Maybe a fill IS what I need. What do you guys think?

Congrats on the "40" TammyJ and Denise!

Sophie, I know what you mean! I am deathly afraid of being too tight! From what I understand, you haven't had much restriction the last 2 weeks except this past weekend which means it's probably something other than your fill amount that caused the sudden restriction. Stress, exercise, TOM, drinking too much alcohol (at least for me it did) can cause you to feel too tight. If you feel that most days you are eating more than you should then it maybe time for another fill. 13lbs by mid August is very attainable...I'll be rooting for ya!!! :cheer2:
