  1. Thanks for responding Audree. I tried a liquid diet for one day to see how I would do and I was literally shaking by the end of the day, very weak and of course hungry. I tried High Protein Boost w/ only 15g of protein so that may be why I was so weak...not enough protein. The surgery itself will give me more motivation to stick with it when my time comes, but I may take something to curb my appetite to help me through it.

  2. I'm probably kinda late with this reply, but I joined Workout Express (same thing as Ladies Workout Express only men are allowed) about a year and a half ago and I absolutely love it. I go religiously at least 3 times a week. I have not lost any weight from going, but I've had several people comment how my body shape has changed. I can do a lot of things physically that I couldn't do before I started working out. Now, If I could just stop eating maybe I can lose some weight...hence me getting the band. Workout Express is great! Keep it up and you will see wonderful changes in your body!

  3. From what I understand (and I'm still learning so I may be wrong). Several fills maybe needed NOT because they have stretched their stomachs and need to make it tighter again, but because it may take several fills to reach what some call "the sweet spot". The band is filled a little at a time until proper restriction is achieved.

  4. I've been back and forth so many times about the decision to have surgery. I was scared to death after reading about complications that could occur with the band. I got discouraged after family and friends told me not to do it. My point is you will probably hear a lot of negative things about the band from doctors, family, friends and even strangers, but only YOU know what's best for YOUR body. Gather as much information as possible about the surgery...Good and Bad. I'm sure you will come to the conclusion that the band is a wonderful tool that can help you in managing your weight. Good luck with your decision.

  5. I've been gathering all the information I can about the Lapband since this summer and I've finally made the decision to become banded. I don't have much support in my personal life. I just told my best friend of 19 years that I was having it done and her comment was "I think it's just an easy way out. You've lost weight before so you can do it again" Of course, my response was that the weight always comes back, but she wasn't buying it. My husband supports me, but he's a little worried. Being on this site has been such a blessing. I have been truly inspired by so many of you. It's great reading about other people who are considering the band, have the band or have lost the band. I am so ready to take control of my weight. My surgery date of March 15th seems so far away, but I know it will be here before I know it. Happy New Year to everyone! 2007 is going to be a great year!!!

  6. My husband uses phentermine. You can order it online for about 120.00 for two months supply. He's lost 60 pounds since I had my surgery and I've just lost 55 pounds since banding. Go figure, he got off a lot cheaper than I did.

But guess which one of you will keep it off? I took Phentermine on and off for several years. It works great...only problem is my body became so used to the medicine and it was no longer effective. Even after being off the medicine for 6 months to a year, the pill was still not as effective.

  7. I've had 2 previous laproscopic surgeries (gallbladder and tubal ligation) and wondering if I will even be able to have the LapBand surgery due to scar tissue. My first appt. is scheduled for Dec. 26th. I'm sure the doctor will be able to tell me more, but I was just wondering if anyone had 2 or more previous laproscopic surgeries and was still able to get the band.

  8. Hi Hunny bun,

Just wondering how your are doing w/ the program at Mercy Hospital? I called for some information and they told me to come to a session on Wednesday. Would you mind telling me a little more about it? I am still deciding if I should go or not. Thanks for your help.
