  1. I too am going to be a March Banster...March 15th I just got that date on Monday. It is aamazing to read some of these threads I could have written most of them my self. So happy to have found this Site and Know that I am Not Alone.

    Iam Happily Married 29 years this MAy/I am 46 years old and 300lbs and have a goal of 180 /also 5'7 1/2"

I have 2 daughters both married so we are empty nesters. they are all behind my decision. wish me luck

:welcome: Rosi!!! We are being banded the same day!!! We have exactly 3 weeks left! I am getting very anxious as the date gets closer. Good Luck to You and keep us posted!

  2. I did really well yesterday. I stuck to my plan and had a Protein Shake for Breakfast, a South Beach Cereal Bar mid morning, Shrimp Ceasar salad (no croutons and the shrimp was plain) for lunch, and another Protein shake for dinner. I ate more salad than I probably should have. Gotta work on eating proper portions. I also did 40 minutes circuit training at the gym. :)

I weighed in at the hospital last night and gained 2lbs! :P Now I am at an all time high of 279lbs...more than what I weighed 9 months pregnant. :preggers: That makes me even more determined to stick to my plan. I refuse to get to that 280 mark...NO WAY!! :D

:welcome: To our newest March Bandsters!!! I will be adding you to our list!

Happy Dieting today to those who are on a diet plan. IT IS a GOOD THING and we should be happy about it because we are doing something awesome for our bodies! :thumb:

  3. Hello All,

I am so happy to be getting banded as part of your group. You all sound like a great bunch! So positive and supportive! Which after the banding I'm sure I will be trying to soak up like a sponge. LOL! I have to laugh to keep from crying. I too am a little nervous, but at the same time excited. I started my preop diet on Thursday 2-15. Protien drinks 3 times a day, and 1 high protien low fat meal consisting of a meat and a green vegetable. Not too bad. Funny how the preops differ so much. I am waiting on my letter from insurance to come this week. I have been aproved, but my doc uses 2 different surgery centers. Depending on which center insurance aproves, my surgery will be either March 1st or March 2nd. I will check back in when I get my confirmation. Hasve a great week everyone! Teresa

:welcomeB: Tea Time!!!!! You are in good company because we are all a bundle of nerves. Good Luck to You and Keep us Posted!!!

  4. It is so good to hear that I'm not alone and that everyone is trying so hard. :woot:

During my last meal syndrome attack, I know I have put on a few pounds. Even my sweatpants are feeling a little snug. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! :angry I am getting started today! I don't start full liquids until next Thursday, but starting today I will replace 2 meals with Protein Shakes and have one low carb meal each day. I am also going to start my workout routine again. :) :boxing:

I may cancel my lunch dates with my friends or if I do go I will be sure to chose something low carb of the menu. Oh, who am I fooling...I think I'd better cancel and just tell them that my Dr. put me on a strict diet this week.

Good Luck Everyone with your pre-op or self-prescribed diets!!!

  5. I think the thing is when we were kids - well in Australia anyway - we didnt have the appalling diet that kids today have. I grew up on healthy food, things like McDonalds were a treat we got only two or three times a year for birthdays or whatever, my kids eat Maccas way more often than that!

Our biggest indulgence was fish and chip night. I walked or rode my bike to school, I played softball and netball and tennis and trained for those sports as well. My leisure time was spent riding my bike around the neighbourhood, running around outside.

If someone runs this poll in 25 years time, I"ll bet money that a lot more people will say "yes, I was fat as a child". I see so many fat kids round these days.

Our lifestyle has changed so much. I feel very very lucky because we built a house in a new area that is more conducive to the kids having the same kind of lifestyle that I had. I hate living here to be honest, loathe everythign about this cookie cutter brick veneer suburb, but its fantastic for the kids. They hang around outside, they disappear after Breakfast, and come back for dinner. I know I'm the ONLY one amongst my friends and acquaintances whose kids have this freedom! Everyone else's kids are stuck indoors or in their own backyards and trotted out only for organised activities.

I agree! When I was younger there was nothing better than playing and running outside with friends. My 10 year old son loves being outdoors riding his bike or skateboard or just climbing up on a pile of dirt. He is gone for hours at a time and sometimes I have to go find him just to come in and get something to eat. I finally got walkie talkies with a 3 mile radius to keep up with him. He loves playing video games, but he gets bored with it really fast and would rather be outside with his friends. It's been been really cold here this past month and when it finally reached around 10 degrees I caved in and let him go outside because he was miserable sitting in the house. I hope he keeps this energy level as he gets older and doesn't end up becoming a coach potato like so many children today.

  6. As a child, I was always taller and bigger than the other kids. I can remember being a flower girl in my Aunt's wedding when I was 8 yrs old and not being able to wear the cutsie dresses in the girl sizes. I ended up getting a dress from the misses dept. I felt extremely fat in high school, but now when I look at old high school pictures I think I looked thin. Unfortunately, Being 5'9" and size 14 in high school is considered FAT! I would be happy if I wore a size 14 now!!!

  7. Happy Monday Everyone and Welcome Janine!!! :biggrin1:

clickersister, I hope everything goes as planned tomorrow. Good luck with dealing with your co-worker. Can you just call in sick???

Scarlett, maybe try the South Beach Diet since it goes along with the bandster way of eating (protein first).

I have a couple lunch appts this week with 2 close friends that know about my surgery and my husband is taking me to dinner Friday night for steak and crab legs, so this will be my last week of splurging and I'm going to enjoy! :hungry:

  8. I think I have it now....(my ticker , that is) I was on a previous forum and everyone was going to Mexico to have the surgery. That is not the case with people here is it? I live in Missouri and am having my surgery here.

There are quite a few people on this board who go to Mexico for their surgeries, but there are tons of us who are having it done in our own area. Either way, there is alot of good information on this board.

  9. Hi Everyone!

hows everyones week been? Well started my diet last Sunday, 2 nights I kind of blew it, I had red wine...one night I was stressed, and another night I was celebrating getting some good news (work related) so ummm not really sure on weight loss. Although I saw the surgeon last saturday, Ive not had a letter back or anything? I'll have to phone the hospital on Monday I think and find out whats happening, because apart from knowing my surgery is the 1st week of April, I dont have an actually day :) .

So hows everynes diets going? Hey, Ive decided to take up gardening again, might actually get me exercising again!

    Have a great week!

    Sara x

Well Sara, I'm not doing too well with my diet. I have 12 days left before I have to start liquids. I think I'm going through that last supper syndrome and have been eating any and everything. I feel like a stuffed pig. I am so tired of stuffing my face and ready for this madness to end! :phanvan I was so determined to start a low carb diet to jump start my weight loss, but so much for that. I am hoping to start low carb on the 26th...to get my mind right :decision: and on to full liquids starting March 1st. Wish me luck!!!

P.S. I hope you get your date soon!!! :biggrin1:

  10. HI Everyone. I also have a date!! 3-14 is now my LUCKY number!!! I was denied by health insurance for "psychological reasons". Not only did I crack up laughing, but so did every person I have shared this with. I then called the insurance company here in the Netherlands...I expressed my irritation rather strongly. The girl told me this is standard to deny the surgery, and if I file a complaint, they will probably APPROVE me. But, I have been waiting six months already and said to hell wiith it. For 5000 euros, it is worth it to just do itmyself. This includes 2 years of follow up healthcare too! Great deal. So, March 14, I start my journey to the thinner me!!!!

    Char

Welcome Charlif761!!! Good for you!!! They say if you want things done right...do them yourself! Good Luck to You!!! :biggrin1:

  12. WOOOO HOOOO, I've got my DATE. 3/28/07 Yes, today was the day...I go for the preop stuff on 3/20 then....the BAND!

    Par-ty, par-ty, par-ty!

Can you tell I'm happy! (I'm sure the nerves will hit later.... :))

Congratulations on getting a surgery date!!! It all seems so real when we finally get a date! :biggrin1:

Glogirl, Yes, I will post the updated list again. I probably should post an updated list every ten pages or so that way I won't have to go back so far to update and so you all can see our stats. Anywho, here goes...

  13. Hi. I didn't even realize a March Bandster thread had been started. I will have surgery 3/7. I think I am ready. Little nervous, but guess I'm no different than anyone else.

I have been back to the surgeons office for answers to a few questions about things I didn't quite understand. At least I don't have that uneasy, unsure feeling now. I dread the next few weeks of pre-op, post-op dieting. But I know I have to do this to be successful with this venture. At my age I don't have time to mess up. Should have done this long ago. I tend to be a worrier, hope I don't drive my dh nuts. Guess I will just keep it all to myself. Don't want him to be apprehensive about this. It is nice to have you all to talk with.

Welcome Sugarbear!!! :welcome2: Yes, we are here and ready to be banded! March can't get here fast enough!

  14. Thank you for the welcome!

I wonder why some doctors want a pre-band diet, and others don't have any restrictions?

I've often wondered the same thing. Some surgeons say the pre-op diet is to shrink the liver so that the surgery can be performed safely. While other surgeons say a pre-op diet to shrink the liver is hogwash and the surgery can be performed safely without it. So who knows...I guess we all just have to listen to our own individual surgeons and that means 2 weeks of liquids before surgery for me! :omg:

  15. Good Morning Everyone!!! I know everyone is feeling anxious the closer we get to March. I know I am! Only 2 weeks left 'til some of us are banded! I can't wait to hear about everyone's progress.

Welcome Melissa (lilnena)!!! Congratulations on your weight loss! 54lbs...WOW!!! :) You are off to a great start! I will add you to our list!

Thickchicktexas, You should have no problem losing 20lbs and getting into a 16 by your birthday! :gluck:
