Abbey , I can not be of much help since I am not banded yet. But I am sorry you are stuck. It never fails though as a question comes up that I wonder about for when I do finally get banded. So im waiting to hear what is said to help you out. Does drinking water help maybe ? I dunno . I seem to remeber a thread under food I think about tortillas . I'll see if i can find it. Good luck Mindy

    Exercise and Excess Skin

Im also interested to know if you have excess skin prior to surgery ( around my waist) if that can get any better with working out ? I have pretty much convinced myself that i'll neeed a TT and im fine with that. My other question is if you need a TT when do you get it done ? Im assuming after you meet your goal but how long after that ? Mindy (Not yet banded)

    Phantom Gall Bladder Attacks?

I had my gallbladder out about 5 yrs ago . Less than 3 months after having my youngest son . About a month post op I started having phantom attacks and I SWORE They didn't take my gallbladder out . After going back and going back to the doc he finally asked me " are you on a diet " I told him yes, He told me to avoid eating a lot of lettuce or other roughage several days in a row . And in fact at that time I was on Weight Watchers and eating a salad almost every day , several times a day . Apparently ( according to my doc) with no gallbladder your body can not process the roughage as quickly out of your system , and that is why the attacks . SO If i avoid lettuce and roughage on a regular basis I seem to be OK. But if i eat a Salad say 3 days in a row I'll have them almost every time. They hurt like hell and I swear I'm going into labor because that's what they feel like to me. Mindy PS Im not banded yet if that helps too .
  5. Hi ,My name is Mindy and I live outside Austin TX. I have been really thinking about Lap band Surgery for over a yr now. I hope its ok to post on here since i haven't had it done yet ? I found this group and I have to say its really has some inspirational stories and the PICTURES are amazing. its one thing to see the numbers but the photos are fabulous. Everyone is a real inspiration to me. I'm going to a lap band seminar for Southwest Bariatrics tomorrow . I have a few questions that i thought some of you might be able to help me out with . I have 2 major concerns with this surgery, that I'm not sure if it will get addressed tomorrow or if i have to wait to go to an appt and well frankly I'm inpatient. The first is I have migraines frequently . I was looking over the post op meal plan . My question is , does the fasting post op ( and it looks like pre op as well ) cause any of you that have migraines to have them more often or do you not notice any difference ? My other question is I also have PCOS ( Poly cystic ovarian syndrome ) one of the "symptoms' of PCOS Is its difficulties to loose weight. So anyone with PCOS have any problems loosing the weight post op and then keeping it off ? I realize no one can give me medical advice just what your own experiences have been if you have PCOS or migraines both would be better lol . I know everyone is different especially with those 2 conditions. Thanks Mindy

Considering Lap Band A few ?s (Newbie)

THANK YOU Tricia. To be honest i dont expect my migraines to get " better" after surgery . I just want to make sure that wont get worse . I have had them since I was 11. now if they got better that would be a HUGE plus. Your stats are great , that is VERY incouraging to me. Ive been confused as to the stat numbers is the last number where you are or your goal ?? Either way yours are awesome. The stats and the before and after pics are VERY encouraging to me. Thanks Mindy

Considering Lap Band A few ?s (Newbie)

Yeah definitely stay with fresh non preservative drinks/food, i try to do that anyway .I can not handle anythign with nutrasweet or even splenda in it . Does anyone know if pomegranate juice is ok to drink ? LOL I LOVE that stuff. the canned broths I try not to do either due to the preservatives in it . Even if things say " No MSG " or they dont say MSG there is about 100 different names for MSG. But i guess I could make broth fresh ? Im interested in the PCOS response too . I HOPE its a good one lol Good luck on your seminar as well. I'm excited about mine. Mindy
