  1. Zom, I'm the same way with being cold. I wear pj's to bed and sometimes socks, never did that before. I believe it's due to fat burning. At least that is what my husband says. Every time he diets and goes without much food, he freezes too. So freeze away and let that fat burn off!
  2. Welcome Healthybran! how are you doing post op?
  3. tkauhi the exact same thing happened to me in week 3. It's so frustrating, but just think of it as your body catching up to all the amazing weight you've already lost. And there's no way you actually gained a pound, just water. :-) FAB, that is so great you can try all those things! I'm jealous. Claire I hope you can successfully start to add more soft foods to your diet!
  4. Erin, would love to see a picture. So exciting to buy a 14, that means you can shop anywhere! I do have a lump as well, it's scar tissue.
  5. Fab, how about cottage cheese, yogurt and pureed vegetarian (I can't have meat yet) chili. Other more filling or substantial soups? Some on here also do mashed potatoes. Also hummus is good. Good luck, hope this helps a bit!
  6. For those of you who can have eggs, a hard boiled egg mixed with 1 TBS of hummus is yummy! Just have to nibble and eat super slow.
  7. Sundance kid, you are doing great! Curious why the guilt around solids? Did your doc say it was ok?
  8. Hi everyone. Sounds like everyone is doing pretty good post-op and that we all share the same issue with frustration of the scale, head hunger, etc. I think those things will continue to battle us throughout this journey and we need to learn how to deal with them successfully. I was in a deep funk for about a week (this past week). Finally coming out of it I think. I was just having a hard time with the scale not moving, but more about not being able to enjoy social events. I went to a friends house for a girls night out and sat there with all the other women eating and drinking and there was me with nothing but a glass of water. It was embarrassing. I've since been invited out again another 2 times, but decline as I can't eat or drink (alcohol) and don't want to stand out. I don't want to have to decline! But I know in time I won't have to. I just have to keep telling myself that. The scale has started to move again so that is encouraging. I really need to start doing regular exercise! I can't believe Monday will be 4 weeks since surgery! Have a good weekend everyone.
  9. So this past week has been really hard on me. My scale has gone UP two times and for the week I'm only down less than a pound. I've not eaten anything I shouldn't have, get in my protein, water, etc. I just don't get it. I know people say we all go through stalls, but this early in? And why? Yesterday I was feeling really down about it. I hope today I can get out of the funk. Sorry to be a downer.
  10. Wow Zom, that is amazing! You look so great! Thanks for sharing. Sorry I've been MIA. I had company in town and my computer is in the guest room. Will update soon.
  11. Hi, I'm looking for some suggestions/advice on non-dairy Protein. I'm in the pureed stage, moving to soft foods soon. I feel like all I eat for protein is dairy stuff (Protein shakes, cottage cheese, yogurt). Maybe once in awhile I get protein from a few Beans, but it's not the majority. My stomach seems upset quite a lot and I think it might be from all the dairy. Any ideas out there for other sources? I do not eat fish, so no talapia, baby shrimp, etc. Thanks!
  12. I tried them a long time ago. they are pretty good and very convenient. I think I need to pick up some. I gained weight this morning. Not a lot, but still super bummed to see the scale go up!!!! WTF
  13. Thank you so much everyone! And Dee, so great info, thank you! I can't have any of the meats during soft food stage (turkey, chicken, etc), but will definitely be trying a lot of the above.
  14. My NUT suggested Talapia too, but said to cook it wrapped in tin foil and in the oven to maintain the most moisture as possible. She said BBQ dries it out. I'm not a fish person, so won't be trying it, but thought I'd pass that along. Claire, what is slimming world? shoot must run, bbl
  15. Erin are you logging your food/intake? How much Protein are you getting? Welcome FAB and Rickie! When do you both move to the pureed stage? Zom, so glad you are doing so great! The weight is falling off you!
  16. I put on a pair of my pants (24) and they were huge and I could not wear them! So instead I found a pair of jeans (20) put them on and they fit!!! WooHoo!

    PROTEIN HELP PLEASE!

melba toasts are the crackers that dissolve and my surgeon suggests.
  18. Not sure what is up with those bullet points! :-)
  19. Sparkykrause, I did experience that pain in the beginning, right below my belly button. I think it is the nerves that are cut as part of surgery that need to re-heal. I remember searching it on here and others had experienced it too. Only lasted a few days for me, so hopefully for you too. Janiestine, I'm sorry you are in so much pain, but I love your stay positive attitude! I'm so looking forward to your recipes!!! Claire, I'm glad you are stepping back a bit and focusing on the fluids. Sounds like that is what your body is preferring. When do you go for a post-op so you can talk to a NUT? Erin, don't be discouraged! 12lbs is fantastic. One thing you have to consider is that you are a lower BMI and you lose slower than those with a higher one. Yesterday was a weird one for me. I puked a little Water after drinking too much. I wasn't trying to, but a medicine got stuck and I needed more water to get down. It's like the excess water had no where to go so up it came. I then had some diarrhea too. sorry tmi. I'm getting more energy back in the day, but I still sleep a lot at night! kdidn and believieinnikki, hope you both are doing ok!
  20. Zom, have you thought about putting the non flavored protein into a soup? Sounds like you have some other good idea with the icee's. ReaRaes, does your surgeon know have a move planned? Anything they can do to put a STAT on it? Welcome to Patti!
  21. I need to go get me some hummus, but what do you have it with? Claire, how about some regular baked Beans and then mash them up a bit? Are you allowed to have cottage cheese or yogurt? Your surgeon does have a diff method, I would not be able to eat Weetabix in the first 6 weeks. I did get to go out to dinner last night and was so pleased. Just didn't feel right on Valentines day. It was the family, not a hot date night. LOL. But we went to our favorite Indian and I got them to take one of my fav veggie curries and blend it all up in a Soup for me! So nice of them! Delicious! And I have some left over.
  22. Erin, I just tried to c/p my yesterdays logged from online, but didn't work. I've only been on pureed for two days now but my yesterday was Breakfast - protein drink (unjury), morning snack - greek yogurt, lunch - re-fried FF beans with TB of light sour cream on top, dinner - On the GO size cottage cheese. total of 60g of protein, and first day I got over 500 calories at 520. Before yesterday with starting the new stuff, I was having 2 protein shakes and the yogurt to get in the protein. Things I'm getting ready to try are vegetarian 99% fat free chili (and puree'ng it), poached eggs (not until I've done more pureed foods), soft cheese, and super soft fruits. Hope this helps!
  23. Erin have you tired yogurt? The Dannon light and fit Greek yogurts are good, high in protein, low in sugar. Also cottage cheese or re-fried beans (fat free). I hear ya with the treats, it's like a candy factory in my house with all the kids stuff. I really want to go out to dinner tonight too!
  24. Zomgjj, so glad you are doing well. You leave tomorrow right? I had my drain until 9 days post-op. That is how my doc does it. The thing is a total PITA, and I was so glad to get mine out yesterday. Erin, so glad you are loving the job. Totally makes sense to start new with eating habits. I’m so worried about all my co-workers noticing a drastic change in my habits and wondering. Are you moving to purees soon? You should be able to get more calories that way. Are you getting in all your Protein? Believeinnikki, how are you doing now? You seem like you are doing great so far! Claire are you home yet? I heard about the crazy storms over there. I’m on the “lucky” side of the states, we were 81 degress today. Hope you are feeling great! anieitstime, so sorry you had to go through a codeine allergy issue! I’m hoping they’ve found something else they can give you and your pain is more under control. I had Loratab in the hospital and it worked good! enibop, I’m so sorry about your postponement. That is so hard to find out the day before. That happened to me back in January. I hope you can get your AC1 level back to normal and get the surgery as soon as possible. Keep us updated. Pescareno, glad you are past the hard part! Hope you are doing ok now. Hopefully I’ve hit most of you. Didn’t see a recent post from Ken, but good luck tomorrow!!! I did get my drain out yesterday! Hooray! Doc was happy with everything at my post op. Today I started pureed food. Tried FF refried Beans and that went down fine, about a ½ cup eaten over an hour. I just had a small cottage cheese (on the go size) and again went down fine. I still get so thirsty and it’s hard for me now to gulp it down. Just keep trying to take little sips.
  25. Zomgjj it is so nice for you to have that nurse there for support and to learn from. So cool! Glad you are doing so great, do you go home today? Claire, loved the update, you are doing fantastic! I love it! Will you go home as well today? tkauhi are you logging what you eat/drink? That might help with understanding the fluctuation. Maybe you had a Soup with a lot of sodium? and you are just hanging on to some Water? Erin, how's the job going? How's the eating/drinking for you? Jenibop2, thinking good thoughts for you! And for everyone else up at bat.
