  1. Sounds like everyone is doing well and made it through Easter ok. We went out for a brunch and managed some of a ham and cheese omelet. i still need to work on having more solid food. Today I had a meatball for lunch and that was yummy and went down great. I definitely don't think I could do 3 oz of meat though. I sometimes have a P3 (new protein packs from Oscar Mayer) and they are 2 oz (some low fat cheese, almonds and turkey). I find them perfect. I tried my first salad as well and that was ok. Only problem is I can't eat very much and it's not much protein so then it feels like a waste. Anyone else struggle with that? I still haven't tried any sugar or desserts, too chicken to dump! Zom, great job being on vacation and still loosing 5lbs a week, that is amazing. I'm consistently at a 3lb avg per week. I won't be able to weigh for 3 weeks! Part of me is wondering how the heck I'm going to stay sane, but the other is excited to see a big jump (hopefully) after the 3 weeks. I have a cast on my leg and that is why I can't weigh. I go for my 12 week post op next week and I hope they won't make me weigh with the cast, that would be just cruel. LOL
  2. Tammy, glad your stall is over and your are moving! So where is miss Erin these days?
  3. To be honest, I don't think I could have bent over a tub for a couple of weeks. And you can't soak your incisions for awhile. Do you have a gym that you could shower at like every other day?
  4. Good point Terry, even though I was only out a week, I filed out the disability forms for 3 weeks just in case. It's easy to get the time up front, but harder to extend.
  5. I took one week off completely, then worked from home for a week, then back to the office after that. Desk job as well. Worked for me.
  6. ReaRaes, so glad you finally got a date!!! Let us know if we can answer any questions for you. Claire, so jealous you are in Italy. I went there in 1998 and had WAY too much fun. I'm glad you are able to enjoy it and not worry about the food, such a relief to enjoy life as you should be. Zom, that is so awesome you were able to fit on every ride! Such a great feeling. I went to Disneyland a month ago and was worried about that, but was able to do it all too. Phew! Great job on the steps! I wore my fit bit to DL too, amazing to see the results and I was only there for a day. tkauhi, so sorry about the big stall, that is super frustrating I'm sure. Have you been able to read on here and find any plateau busters? You are sill doing amazing, so just keep at it and it will not fail you. I'm hanging in there, doing the same thing. Really need to step out of my food shell and try new things. It's hard when you know what works and that is easy.

    California? Anyone...ツ

I'm with Dr. Callery. He's in Poway. I had my surgery on 2/4.

    California? Anyone...ツ

    I'm in San Diego too.
  9. Wow, congratulations on your success and being a healthy you!!
  10. I'm 8 weeks and just tried the Quest bars last week. Cooking them would be easier to eat earlier than just having them plain.
  11. oh no Zom, that stinks! Was is regular or decaf? I've tried decaf a few times over the last few weeks and it's going good so far. Nope not much going on, I miss all the action! Hope you all are doing well. Gotta share this recipe!!!! I took a Quest Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough protein bar, cut it in 8 small pieces and baked them for 7 minutes at 350. Half way through, press them down a little. They turn out like chocolate chip cookies!!! So yummy. 21g of protein, 1 sugar, low fat. And it's made with a natural sugar replacement! I'm going to do it again and bag them in like 2's so I can reach for them if I ever have a sweet or cookie craving.
  12. Looking great Dreaming! Makes me wish I did a before picture, but I didn't! ReaRaes, sorry you still don't have your approval! What a long journey you are on. Sounds like you are busier than ever though, so maybe a good thing until you are moved and settled. SullysRants, you are doing amazing! Must feel so great to have 50lbs off you! Zom, great update with your doctor! So cool they want to possibly use you as an example, you go girl! I'm doing ok, starting to be able to eat a little more. Just had my first ground turkey (about 1/4 of a cup) mixed with beans. I had my upper GI on Thursday and all looked fine. I am on the small side (tight passway), so if it does get worse from scar tissue, I'd probably need to get it dilated. But don't want to do that unless absolutely necessary. I've been keeping up with my walking and the weight is slowly coming off (some weeks faster than others). Hope everyone else is doing great.

    6 months post op :)

Wow that is awesome! You look amazing. Any tips?
  14. Yum a tamale! That sounds delicious. I just had my first avocado. Super yum!
  15. zom, congrats on 80lbs! That is wonderful!!! what do you dump on? I have yet to experience that and am nervous for it to happen.
  16. That is amazing Erin! Congrats! Won't be long now. :-)
  17. Nice Erin! What are you doing different? My doc wants to do an upper GI on me next week to check the pouch and make sure it hasn't narrowed (like from scar tissue).
  18. Mr&MrsB, have you tried all diff kinds of protein shakes? They are not all alike! GREAT nsv Zom! What a wonderful feeling. I'm continuing to struggle to get in more softer foods. I'm tired of throwing it all back up. I'm still getting stuck on vitamins/meds too (and I do take chewable where I can). Going for my 6 week post op tomorrow and will be discussing it all then. I'm down 35lbs in 6 weeks, so happy about that.
  19. Welcome Julie! Dreaming, it's normal to be feeling those emotions, especially in the beginning. Like Erin, I still have days where I question it. I was in tears last weekend over it all. But then had a good week. I appear to be at another stall. Urgh. I'm not loving this part of the journey. I've been exercising 30 minutes or more a day and eating right. Why on earth would I not be losing weight. In fact I went up! Boggles the mind. Something to discuss next week at my 6 week post op. I'm going to Disneyland on Monday and really hope I'm going to be able to find things to eat. I'm still not able to tolerate a lot of foods. Yesterday I threw up around 4 and was stuck till 9pm when I could finally get some water in.
  20. Erin, you are doing so great! 3 pounds a week is totally doable and what my doctor said I could expect on average. Summer will be here before you know it and you'll be a new you! As far as the food and throwing up. Are you going super snail slow? If you are trying to eat dinner with your family and keeping up the speed, that could be the problem. I find I have to go so darn slow, it's hard at times!
  21. Erin, so glad you had a nice weekend! I’m jealous about the Harry Potter ride and the alcohol! LOL I do fully understand where you are at and living and not being hindered by our surgeries and fully agree with you. I can’t wait to get there myself, but waiting to feel comfortable with being fully healed. Almost there! I’m dying to have salad, and will be asking my doc about it next week at my 6 week apt. Although wanting it and being able to handle it are two separate things!
  22. Welcome to all the newcomers! So glad to have you here. Tomorrow will be 5 weeks post op for me. I have to get my blood drawn this week and then will have my 6 weeks post op the following with my doc. Excited to see where I stand at 6 weeks. I haven't been weighing too much as AF is here. I'm still sticking to protein shakes, yogurts, beans, eggs, etc. Stuff of that consistency. I've tried a few other things but it's hit and miss. At 6 weeks I get to introduce meats, like chicken and turkey. I'm exited to try them! At least ground. My husband is making a veggie quiche tonight and that should be good! Curious for those of you further a long, how many calories a day are you getting? What about protein? Are you doing consistent exercise?
  23. I'm having a hard time taking my vitamins/medications lately. They seem to get stuck. Then I can't eat or drink anything for awhile. It's so hard as it is already with timing fluids, eating/drinking, and the meds. If I have to wait 30 minutes to drink after each one, I'll never get anything in! Anyone else have problems with this?
  24. I can definitely see it! Especially in your tummy! You're doing great!
