  1. Thank you so much everyone! Today was really bad, I am not sure what I did, but my chest hurt for hours. It has finally calmed down some, but now a nausiated feeling is setting in. Don't think I can eat or drink anything else today. I have been using Prilosec OTC. My doctor wrote a script for Nexium, but not yet approved by insurance company. Think I will go buy 1/2 the prescription tommorow. If it helps it is a small price to pay. I get concerned that I am not getting enough fluids, calories, Protein, carbs. I would hate to get is worse condition. I was doing so well for a couple weeks, I didn't understand what some were talkiing about with the sick feelings, etc. Now I know, and I apologise for my arrogance in thinking I was beyond paying the real price for begining a new life. I accept it is something I must go through and many thanks to all of you for being so open and sharing.
  2. I am almost 4 weeks out. Even when I sip on Water, etc., eat my two ounces very slowly, my stomach growls & aches. I would love to take a good drink of water, not kill a whole glass but a good decent swallow. I dread every sip and bite as I know my tummy is going to let me know it just doesn't like it. I know this is temporary and will get better. :crying: But... How far out before a VSG patient can take a bite of food rather than a nibble. How about a good swallow of liquid instead of just sips? Thanks in advance... :wink0:
  3. I would not. Everyone has the right to live as they wish. Unless he is totally out of touch he knows about bariatric surgery. If I were to have a conversation with him and weight came up, I would then tell him my story. I do have sympathy for people who are very overweight, no insurance, and do not have the means to pay for it themselves. I would donate to an organzation that helped others in a bariatric way.
  4. Lately; once I try something, I just don't want any more of it. I am throwing out so much food. I think the food processor thing is making me ill. Just to look at that stuff makes my tummy turn. I started soft foods this week, but once I eat something my tummy always acts like it doesn't like it, and I am only eating one to two ounces. It makes it so I can't stand to eat any of it later or make more of it. I forgot to eat this morning,, (thats a first), so I picked up some chicken salad to try. But just a little scared of it. Don't want to put my stomach in cramps again. My doctor wrote me a prescription for Nexium, but seems my insurance company wants to talk with him first before they will pay their share. It is $220.00, I am going to give them a couple days and then just go pay for it myself,, Hopefully the medical deductions will still be good at the end of the year.
  5. Thanks VV. I do have a question. what is qd?
  6. Wow Coopersmama,, walk or take a bike?!,, you are on fire girl!!.. That is great. Any men in those Zumba classes. I have been looking into taking ballroom and salsa dance lessons, but Zumba might be better. Get the excercise without having to be so formal.
  7. Hey, I will admit even though I have lost 55lbs since the start of my preop diet, I have thought many times I wish I had not done this. I just have to remember in the long run, at the end of the day, I will be able to eat a normal serving again of most anything. I did have a few bad days, and have to say my doctor, Dr. Alvarez quickly responded to all my concerns and got me back to good condition right away. I think I had taken in to much to early and caused some inflammation in my sleeve. He still let me start mushies yesterday and I have been fine, but only eating about 1-2 ozs at a time. Ask me again in a few weeks and I am sure I will be very happy with having the surgery done. I am a little concerned about the loose skin. I don't want any more surgeries.
  8. Shontel, I have been doing the B-12 shots for around a year now, but I just drop in on the doctors office and they take me back give me the shot and its done. It does help with well being. But, I they recently found my testosterone low and I have to give myself these shots every other week, with the same needle you are talking about. It is huge. The testosterone is thick and oily, and has to be in the muscle, so no choice to move to a smaller needle. I prefer it in the hip please. I have trouble pushing the needle all the way in so I get someone else to give me the shot. It is suppose to go in to the hilt is what I read,, Looks like it would hit a bone, so make sure to hit the correct area. Best of luck with that. I have never been sore from either shot.
  9. Thinoneday,, how have you advanced so fast,, you are only 3 days ahead of me? What size bougie did your surgeon use? Yeah,, I had to use some Maloxx my stomach just didn't like it. I guess I will try a different mushie tommorow. If still a problem I will stick with fluids for another week. thanks
  10. I am 21 days out and starting mushies. Fixed a scrambled egg with cheese. Very good. I ate it slow but got full after only about 1/2 of it, gave the rest to my trusty dog Otis. Now I feel like I need to burp but can't. Waited about a 1/2 hour took a small drink of water and almost got nausiated. Anyone else experience this. I hope this doesn't last to long, tired of feeling a little sick the past few days.
  11. Thanks Stacy!
  12. I just ate 8oz of LaMadeleines Tomato Basil soup,, I am full but don't feel sick at all, I feel like going for a walk though. Bougie 32 at 19days out.

  14. Yep makes sense, and I was thinking the same thing. A 32 bougie was used for me. I think the difference in size of a 32 vs 36 is not much. Maybe a few beans... lol.. I don't have any trouble drinking a thick 8 oz shake in less than 20 minutes.
  15. Yummy that sounds good.. Still on full liquid diet here, start mushies Monday,,, Maybe I can run some through the food processor. Any suggestions on something liquid I can add to it so as to make it mushie? Besides Tequilla.
  16. looks like your day is coming Thinoneday!. .Congrats on your bravery and a job well done.
  17. Luck, thanks for posting. That sounds real good.
  18. Barbara,, that is great, pretty exciting eh.. Thanks for the post of good news.
  19. Thank you Tiffykins..Your so right. I have to admit I am worried and feel bad about doing it.. It just seems everything is going so well I could do a little cheat. But you are right. Now I have concerns that will last for at least two more weeks. So anyone else out there that is thinking about it,, dont' do it. I noticed where others talked about having foods they shouldn't yet, and I also noticed the difference in recommended diets. The diet my doctor put me is a very safe one, and I should respect it, rather than tempting fate.
  20. Wow ladies,,, that all sounds sooooo good,, I once ate a large Pizza Hut pizza and a complete Baskin Robbins cake.. Man that was a great night.. LOL>. Now about 3 spoons of a thick liquid,, and I am stuffed..
  21. Wow,, I was sleeved Feb 1 as well. I am down 43 lbs, 22 of that was preop diet. I have been at same weight for 3 days now,,, yeah I weigh every day. I walk at least 1/2hour per day. I am anxious to start weight lifting but will wait until March 1, with light weights. Tommorow I am going back to strict diet.. Kinda wandered off this past week a little.
  22. Anyone know the consequences if a person were to eat a small amount of solid foods like a bite off a soft cookie, real small piece of baloney,, like less than a normal bite, while on the full liquids diet, more than 12 days out from surgery? Would it mean definate trouble in the future, or would the trouble happen right away? I am having the opposite problem girls. I seem to be blessed and doing so well, I feel I can eat anything already. But now I am concerned that this may be something that kicks me a week or two out.
  23. Rearranged my closet yesterday,, moved the 46s out and the 42s in.. Was a fun day..
  24. Bambi,, you are a miracle.. lol.. I don't think you need to worry about it. You are just one of the lucky ones. If you are eating only 1/2 cup, I dont' think you have to worry about gaining weight.. I read where our sleeve will hold 8-12 ozs eventually, then we would be eating almost like a normal person...
  25. At 30carbs or less your body is probably in ketosis which also takes away the desire for food. I think VSG patients should be more advised on what is going on with the carbs and ketosis and the role it plays. I was happy to go into ketosis but not everyone's body handles it well, it seems. Maybe if you have lack of energy or getting sick try a little increase in the carbs to about 60. I think it would be interesting if people would post their carb intake along with the protein and calories. I have attached this short article on it, but do your due diligence and google it, learn what is going on, so if you get a side effect you may know how to handle it better before it becomes a problem.
