  1. Tracy, Glad to hear you are better. Be sure to sip burp sip burp sip burp and walk walk walk to keep from getting blood clots! Keep in touch!
  2. I had one too. Nothing to freak over.
  3. Thanks Dr Jossart...that's about what I suspected. After a pretty intense pre-op diet for 3 weeks, and losing 17 lbs, my pre-op labs the day of surgery showed an LDH of 237, and a cholesterol of 206 (it's always been about 160). Uric acid was 7.20 and BUN was 20, so I was a bit dehydrated but had been NPO for over 12 hours so that was not surprising. Monday I'll get results of my 3 month post op labs and hope to see some more "normal" numbers since I'm hydrated better. But I suppose we can't expect things to really normalize totally until about a year or more out when we are eating a more balanced diet.
  4. I would not rely on a psychologist to assess which surgery is safest...go with medical research done on the different procedures. I read about lots of band patients having serious complications but I have not seen the research and statistics on that. Ask your surgeon what his/her complication rate is for various surgeries, and how many he/she has performed. Research supports that after performing 300 of any certain surgery, their complication rate goes way down.
  5. Yes, it stands for methicillin resistant staph aureus. There are other staph infections that are not mrsa. They are easier to treat.
  6. Full liquids the first week...sounds like your surgeon has a good plan for you...be sure to follow it so you don't get a leak in your new sleeve...the first several months it is very important to follow the advice very carefully. You'll be happy you did! Welcome to the forum and good luck on Monday.
  7. Tiff, that is such an incredible photo that shows your joy with the "new you" (and your hubby's joy too!) I love hearing your stories of success...they are inspiring. Keep 'em coming!
  8. Good for you! The time will be here before you know it!
  9. Was it staph though? It would be interesting to hear if all those infected had the same "bug".
  10. I've read enough from posters on both forums about infections at Emmanuel clinic that I believe it is true. I would not be able to afford tens of thousands of dollars of hospital bills for treatment if a bad infection occurred. Not to mention loss of work days, pain and suffering, or even possible death. Successful surgery with no complications is my number one priority.
  11. greek yogurt is good as a mushy. Once you start regular food, fish, meat, poultry, salmon, sardines, tuna, cheese, beans, eggs (some folks don't tolerate eggs so start with soft boiled if you try them)
  12. Hi. I am a nurse for over 30 years and I'd like to know what you think "does not add up". It all sounds plausible to me but I'm open to any proof, either way.

Daisy, when/if you get medicare, what will that cost?
  14. From what you say, you are not following the rules. juice is very high in carbohydrates. Mashed potatoes and crackers are pure carbohydrates. Once you start following the diet and eliminate the carbs, eat the required Proteins and sugar-free fluids, you will lose weight. Gotta make the commitment if you want it to work.
  15. Are you eating proteins and avoiding carbohydrates?
  16. I agree with bobby. Put the scales away. Wait two weeks then weigh.
  17. It does not sound fake to me. How do you know it is a fake?
  18. Try chicken fingers dipped in guacamole! OLE! YUM YUM!
  19. I get nauseated when I don't drink enough fluids. You might try increasing Fluid intake.
  20. Tiff, you are half the woman you used to be...except for your heart...it is twice as BIG. Love ya!
  21. Sarita, Welcome to the loser's bench! Hope you continue to do well...let us know how you are feeling.
  22. Just touching base to ask how your mother in law is doing...?
  23. This thread was at the top of the "new posts" ten minutes ago. Now it has disappeared...where did it go and why? I did a search and found it but can't tell where it was moved to. HMMMMM.
  24. I love avacado too, and just bought some guacamole at Sam's...it freezes well so the "three package" box was a great buy. I think the healthy fats will be good for my skin and hair (which is falling out now that I'm at almost three months). Thank God for my thick hair...hopefully I'll have enough left to be presentable by the time it finishes shedding. Even if I lost it all though, it would be worth it to me. The weight is still falling off too! Almost halfway to goal now!!! YIPPEE.:lol0:
  25. I agree with Tracy 200% :lol0: If you advance your diet too soon you can have serious, even life-threatening complications. Follow your surgeon's instructions exactly. Small sip, burp, small sip, burp, etc...that helps reduce the gas pains. If you don't let the burp come up, the next sip will HURT. Walk Walk Walk. Try your best to get in all the recommended fluids so you don't get dehydrated...that's the most important thing the first week or two. You may not reach the goal at first, just try your best. Don't expect to be eating a normal amount of food...you CANNOT fit it in your stomach and will hurt yourself if you try. Yes you may feel weak for a couple of weeks, but just think of this ....you are losing a lot of weight so it is worth it! Be safe, stay positive, post your questions on this forum and we all will do our best to help you!
