  1. The Isopure I bought is clear pale purple grape flavor but on the bottom of the bottle it has (TMI for some>>>) a little mucousy looking stuff floating around. Is that just Protein, or is something wrong with it? It says to shake the bottle so I figured it is some settling out of protein. I strained a bottle of it to take out the stringy stuff, added a pack of stevia to cut the sour grape taste, and tasted some today and so far I feel fine. It is grape flavor and does not taste too bad. Anyone else use this stuff and know what I am talking about?
  2. I am pre-surg, started a modified diet just cutting carbs a lot, well before my 7 day presurg diet requirement. Already had 1 stall. I'm ok with it. Practicing for when I get sleeved! I can really tell that my liver is shrinking. I can wear shirts that I have not worn in 2 years! Goodbye fatty liver!

    Not yet. Soon though.

    a little bummed out

I'm with you on that one. I only told my two best friends, and neither of them live in the city where I live. So far, no one else knows and I'm keeping it that way until after I am done with the surgery and the weight is melting off. Then I can say to the naysayers...see? I made a good decision! Really, I don't care what they think anyway. It's my life.
  5. Thanks for the info y'all.
  6. Welcome to the forum! Keep us updated on how things are going for you!
  7. Lisa... Let's see...you have lost 111 lbs. That is a whole person!!! Take your right hand and put it on your left shoulder. Raise it up. Put it down. Repeat. That's a long distance pat of the back from me! How about focusing on two really short term goals...like some kind of exercise that you can do for 5 minutes twice a day for ONE WEEK. And a very small nutrition goal, something that you think would help you work toward a goal of 2 lb weight loss in one week. Just SHORT term goals. kEEP A DAILY LOG OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS. Focusing short term instead of long term helps me when I feel overwhelmed by the 130 lbs that I have to lose. At the end of the week, let us know how you did! We are your friends and will encourage you to keep on moving forward, one little bit at a time. YOU ARE AWESOME...YOU GO GIRL!!!!!
  8. Home made pureed chicken Soup and yogurt sound good to me. Maybe some pureed squash. How about pureed shrimp chowder? That has a nice ring to it. 3oz of shrimp contain 18 gms Protein, 0 carbs, 84 calories, 1 gm fat. HMMM will have to work on a recipe! I'm going to be more anxious about transitioning to solids, and will probably stay on the mushies a week longer than required just to be sure...once I get to that point, will see how brave I feel. Not even sleeved yet, but will be soon!
  9. How long ago was your band removed? Has it been at least a year? I think I have read on this forum that Dr Aceves sometimes will remove the gallbladder, perform the sleeve, and also do a hiatal hernia repair...am I right? But he keeps his patients for four days...that makes me feel really safe...I would be very anxious about travelling on a plane a day after sleeve surgery....very scary thought to me. Even if I lived in the same town, leaving the hospital after a day sounds scary to me. So much can go wrong. Maybe I'm just chicken!
  10. i bought Isopure for after my surgery, and all they had was grape. It does not taste too bad...hope my tastes don't turn on my after the surgery!
  11. I agree Susan, Tiff just gets cuter all the time. Makes me wonder what I will look like when I lose 130 lbs. I remember thinking I was fat as a highschooler...although I only weighed 145 lbs at 5 ft 7 1/2. That was actually an ideal body weight for my height. It may take me a while to get adjusted to looking "normal", and REALLY believing it. Soon to be sleeved......
  12. Tiff, You look great! Did your hubby get home yet? I know he will be so surprised and excited to see the new you! Cajun

    Regrets?

Please don't sweat gaining a pound! It's probably just water weight. When I eat canned salmon, I gain several lbs overnight! It happened today! If I lay off the salt, it goes away fast. Try weighing less often...maybe once a week. Forward HO!
  14. OOPS...HIT ENTER TOO SOON... A GENTLE water pic or syringe for irrigation might help. Then as the previous post said, dry, dry, dry. Antibiotic/antifungal applications not a bad idea too, follow MD orders.
  15. Here's my guess: Belly buttons are notorious for hiding little pieces of lint from clothes. When we lose a lot of weight and the skin folds inside the belly button collapse they can hold these small pieces of lint and dead skin cells inside. If there is infection, it might be up inside where you are not getting to it with routine cleansing. Might want to ask the doctor about irrigating it out really well, with some betadine solution or what ever he/she suggests. A GENTLE

    August Sleevers

WhiteRice, Yes, God is bigger than the universe. (that means he is BIGGER than YOU and ME! (grin) One day that kid will meet him and feel the pain of his own remarks. You are wonderful and strong, and I'll bet if you ever do stop and say hello to the kid, no matter what he says to you, you'll be able to just feel sorry for him and his immature attitude. I think what he said to you could also be used as a teachable moment for your own kids...am sure it hurt them too to hear his remark because they love you so much. They can learn how to love everyone no matter what their size, color, age, religion, social status, mental capacity, etc (even dorks like that kid), just like God loves everyone. You're doing great, keep up the forward motion!!!

    Greek Yougart Eaters, a question?

Re Walmart.....Sometimes when I ask the person in charge of that department to stock something, they do it. Since other Walmarts carry it, they can easily get something a customer wants. I add a packet of stevia to my okios plain yogurt, for just a hint of sweetness...no aftertaste. I don't tolerate other non sugar sweeteners. I also add fresh blueberries, for some lo-carb fruit with high nutrient value! Love it! It's my treat of the day!

    Home and improving

Ruthi, I'm with you. I'll be having mine done by Dr Aceves for several reasons...no leaks from what I hear, full service hospital, 4 day hospital stay, number of years experience, number of VSG's performed, free transportation to and from airport, and the price is right. A 1% leak rate would not have swayed me even if he had one either. That's below the researched average and after doing so many, someone is bound to have a leak. Since he does revisions, which are the hardest and probably most prone to leaks, I would be surprised if he does not have one to report eventually. So far, I'm hearing zero.
  21. I agree, Tiff. I don't need a citation/footnote for every opinion I read here, and I appreciate everyone's opinion. I realize they are personal experiences/opinions and may not always be"facts" as other people see things. It's helpful to hear it all and make up my own mind. If I have a question about the source of a statement, I usually PM the person. Works for me.
  22. WASa, Does Dr Aceves train other surgeons in Mexicali? I am concerned about possibly having a surgeon in training with him doing my surgery while he supervises. Just don't want anyone but him doing it. I work in a teaching hospital and what I see gives me the heebie jeebies!

    No "complications" forum?

Tiffy, Yes, it can be mixed with Water. You may be lactose intolerant, which makes you not tolerate dairy. Problem is, Whey is a milk Protein. It might help you tolerate these and other milk products if you crush up about 5 small lactaid tablets and mix this with a tablespoon of the liquid you are about to drink. Take this before taking the first drink from the Protein shake. Probiotics daily might also help. I wish you well.
