    need some motivation

We all experience this, and worrying about it never seems to help. So put away the scales for a week, and enjoy life! I'm almost two months since surgery and have already had several stalls...that's what I do and it seems to make life more enjoyable. As long as you are eating what the program suggests, the weight will come off eventually.
  4. Janette, I am relieved to hear that you are feeling better and are now home with your family. What a scary time you must have had. I can't imagine how you must have felt. Along with so many of our fellow forum members, I'm sending healing prayers and thoughts your way, and hoping you will be able to regain your energy and hopeful spirits really soon.
  5. I can easily forget to eat, but there is not much time to get in all the protein and fluids, between work tasks, etc...so I have to constantly be mindful to be sipping or stopping for a meal. Once I'm at goal I won't feel bad about forgetting though.
  6. You'll be sleeved before you know it! Nice family pics...is that your daughter's wedding? The pre surgery diet may get tough early on but then it gets easier as you lose the hunger feelings....I did anyway. Hang in there...look at your pics when you feel tempted..that helped me. You will be so glad you did this!

    I am in the hosptial

What a bummer! But it is true that adding this to the VSG expense will be better for your tax refund than if you had it next year. Lemonade from lemons! My gallbladder been out for about 10 years and it was not any more painful surgery than the sleeve, hopefully you will have the same feeling after the surgery. I presume it will be done by lap and not open. Pancreatitis is no fun and it is good that you are getting the proper treatment...am sure you are already feeling better since you are resting the GI tract... Let us know how much weight you lost once you get home...after your body dumps all the extra IV Fluid they are pumping into you. Keep your chin up! We are all rootin' for you!
  8. And those of you who are going to Dr Aceves are going to love him and Dr Campos! You won't believe how much better the care is in Mexico compared to the USA.

    Fitness Goals

Check out these exercises: Plantar Fasciitis Stretching Exercises When I had it, I was told to do the towel stretch BEFORE getting out of bed in the morning, and as often as possible during the day...stop if it hurts, just pull to the point where it almost hurts. Gradually you will be able to stretch it more. I did it on the couch while watching TV too. Do what ever your doctor recommeded.
  11. I liked swanson's chicken broth best, and some of the celestial seasoning teas, like Tiffany said. Warm clear liquids were so soothing, small sips, burp between each sip. Cold liquids hurt my esophagus and just made me feel more chilled. I also wore lots of layers and loaded on the blankets because I could not get warm. That's all normal. It will pass. Walking helps a lot too, even just walking around inside the house. I paced the hall, back and forth, when the weather did not permit me to walk outside. That keeps gas moving, raises your temperature a bit, and also helps lower the risk of blood clots. It is very important. Before too long these early discomforts will be a fading memory and the pounds will be dropping off! Hang in there!
  12. This is all normal. As the weight starts coming off your metabolism drops and many of us feel colder. Wear layers. Many of us become intolerant of sweets. Dilute your clear fluids with water until they taste better. I have slight nausea and intolerance for some smells too. This is normal. It will help keep you from over eating so count it as a plus. When I have a bad day I just take it easy...pamper yourself in some non-food ways. Tomorrow will likely be better!
  13. Don't "throw out the baby with the bathwater". Just rededicate yourself to the program. Start over NOW. You can do this. Rid your refrigerator and pantry of all items that are not on your diet now. Maybe that will help. You're not alone in this kind of problem. Once you see the weight coming off it will help motivate you to change some eating patterns and keep it off. For now, use every tool you can to help you stay with the program.

Self Pay VSG and income tax return

I didn't receive any receipt from Dr Aceves for what I paid, but sent an email to Nina and she promptly emailed one to me. Be sure to keep your receipt in case you are audited.
  15. Alex,

When I clicked on the link for the bariatric group in San Antonio that you recently posted, there is an erotic picture on the page. Not what I'm looking for.

  16. My highest weight was 288. When I saw that I could see 300 approaching, and that is when I decided it was time to do something. I started researching WLS. At 280 I started the pre surgery diet. Today I am at 238 and feeling wonderful. 50 pounds down from my highest. It's a landmark and I am really excited. Am about 1/3 to goal, at 7 weeks post surgery! YIPPEE>

    Fantastic, Tiff! Your sleeve ROCKS!

    Dr. Aceves and Meds?

90 nexium capsules (not mups) here in the US costs 300 buckaroos. They don't sell the mups version here in the USA.

    I ate oatmeal!

I just bought some of that today. It is FABULOUS! I add a little to greek yogurt..mmmmmmm.
  20. How Cool! Good luck with your surgery!
  21. And be sure to get up and walk around a lot on the flights home...so you don't get a blood clot. Drink lots of sips of water to stay hydrated!

    highest weight

Next time you go to the doctor, be sure you are not rushing around shopping or doing things before your appointment, go early, and do some meditating/relaxation exercises while in the waiting room. Have your appointment in the early morning because your pressure should be lowest then. Ask the nurse to let you sit quietly and rest for 5 minutes in the blood pressure area before they take your pressure. Close your eyes and take slow breaths like stoongal said, and relax during those 5 minutes. Be sure you are not drinking any alcohol at all in your diet, because that raises BP. As already pointed out, so does salt. I hope things get better for you.

    I've been Sleeved!!

Yay! Welcome to the loser's bench. Gas x helps. Burp between each sip to get the air out. I agree that Dr Aceves and Dr Campos are awesome!
  24. Great advice, Tracy. I recommend stopping all herbal products a week before surgery because the side effects of some of them are not even known, and they could cause drug interactions, bleeding, or other problems. People think they are all "safe" because they are "natural". But they are just like drugs, with side effects and potential to interact with prescription medications.

    Stressed out... !

Yep, you are doing fine. You will have starts and stops, but the inches continue to drop away even when the pounds are not. Your body needs adjustment times in between chunks of weight loss. Relax, and weigh once a week when you are in a stall, so you don't get stressed.
