  7. Hi Mary - I'm not sure how my fills are done yet. My first fill is mid-September, so I'll post then!
  8. Hi Jodi11. A stone is 14lbs. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow!
  9. Hi Mary. I was banded 3rd August, at the Spire in Cardiff. I paid £7,550, which included a preop assessment, all surgery fees, an overnight hospital stay, three band fills, an ongoing weight clinic with a specialist nurse and three dietician appointments, plus any surgery I need to have within a year to correct any potential problems. I've also been told to call the hospital/dietician/specialist nurse if I have any problems or concerns. Hope this helps!
  10. I was banded on the 3rd August, in Cardiff, in the UK. I've been fine since surgery, and weighed this morning for the first time since surgery. I lost a stone on the preop, and another 12lbs this week.

How often do you weigh in?

Once a week - I like to see an appreciable difference!
  12. In the UK, NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) guidelines say that you need to have a BMI of 40+ or a BMI of 35+ with ailments that are likely to improve with weightloss surgery, (such as diabetes.)
  13. I lost a stone in ten days on my preop, but mine was a (strcit) very low calorie diet, eating small portions, rather than a liquid diet. Remember though, the point isn't so much to lose weight on the preop diet, its to shrink your liver to make surgery safer.
  14. I was on a preop diet for 10 days. It wasn't a liquid diet, just a strict, very low calorie diet, eating small portions, (which was quiet good in terms of preparing me for eating after the band.) I lost a stone over the course of ten days, but the point of the preop diet isn't losing weight so much as shrinking your liver, which needs to be moved during surgery to access the stomach. Apparently, if the liver is very fatty, it can be quite brittle and more easily damaged during surgery.
