  1. Hi TnT and welcome to the forums!
  2. Diva, thanks for sharing your story. There are several others on here who had the band and converted to the sleeve. Best wishes to you and I look forward to hearing more from you.
  3. DeeDee...that's fantastic! You did it! Congratulations to you and your hard work

Good Job! It takes great dicipline and will power to start doing those healthy things way in advance, but I have no doubt, you won't regret it. Keep up the great work!

DeeDee..your closet looks great. Now you can buy some "new" clothes to help fill it up. Hope the sun shines for you soon. I know the snow can get old very quickly.
  6. Egg Drop soup is the ONLY thing that hasn't agreed with my tummy so far. I made the recipe from the recipe thread here last night for dinner (I'm in mushie stage) and I only ate 2 oz and had a tummy ache most of the night. That's so disappointing to me as I love Egg Drop soup. I'll definitely try it again later because from what I've read, sometimes your tummy changes and you can tolerate things you didn't in the beginning.
  7. congratulations on breaking the stall and hitting onederland!!!
  8. Printed a copy out. Thanks Tiff!
  9. Congratulations Jane! What an accomplishment!
  10. Congratulations!! Sending prayers your way for a successful surgery. (ditto on the go Saints)
  11. Mark, sorry to hear about your insurance not covering WLS. It can be devastating to hear that kinda news. Don't give up, just keep working on it and a solution will come.
  12. I did have the surgery Jan 19th. All went very smoothly for the most part. I was really impressed and happy with Dr. Aceves and his staff. Hubby and I were surprised at how accommodating they are. I have had to contact Dr. Aceves office several times for questions etc. and they always reply with in a few hours, on the other hand, I can call my local doc and wait hours and sometime days to get an answer or response back. Doesn't make any sense to me. I did have one complication from surgery and that is a blood clot in my left arm as a result of the IV from surgery. I noticed a lump on my arm after being home several days and ended up in the ER room twice as a result. The good news is that my arm is much improved. At the beginning it would swell and hurt quite a bit. Now only my hand hurts. So I'm pretty sure it's on the mend. It was scary though as my family doc explained that it can break up and move to your brain/lungs or heart and kill you. Not exactly what I wanted to hear. I've done really well with liquids and have sucessfully gone through phase I & II of my post op diet. This saturday I can start eating mushies. I'm so looking forward to that. I really haven't been hungry much at all, so it's more that I'd like to be chewing. A few times (just for a second) I've had that "What have I done" question pop into my head, but it leaves very quickly. I know this is the best thing I could have done for myself. I only wish this would have been available 20 years ago. I think my life, like so many others would have been so different. Oh well, we are who we are because of what we've been through. I don't want to end up like all my other family members (DEAD). My mother died of Lups in her 50s. My dad died of cancer in his 60's. My brother died of complications from diabetis in his 40's. Obviously these things run in families. Hopefully this surgery will help me to be healthy and live a longer life. More later when time permits. :001_tt2:
  13. I was told not to swallow any pills until 3 months out. All pills should be ground up until then. Hope you get to feeling better.
  14. That's funny!! *wondering if that's something that she'd actually do:wink0:* lol
  15. When I was on pre-op I do remember dreaming about eating something because I woke up chewing. lol:huh0:
  16. :blushing::lol0::crying: That is just so funny. I bet you never spilt anything off your plate either huh? *snickering*
  17. Holy cow!!! Congratulations! That's fantastic.
  18. This is my first weird food dream since being sleeved. Last night in my dream I forgot I was sleeved and was in a rush to go somewhere so I just grabbed two hotdogs (How weird cause I rarely ate them:scared0:) and a diet pepsi and shoved them in my mouth. About 20 mins later I thought " OH MY GOD" I can't eat those, I'm on full liquids!!! Then I thought, my sleeve must not be working right, cause I feel totally fine! lol'ing:lol0: I woke up in a sweat!!! whew....glad it was just a dream.
  19. I made this soup and it is great!!! Thanks Stoongal
  20. Congrats Youknowit!!! Sending prayers your way for a speedy recovery!
  21. Kelly, welcome to the forum! I think many of us started out thinking the band was the way to go until doing all the research. It sure did open my eyes up once I read all the complications and I'm so thankful for forums like this so that we can learn from others experiences. Good luck on your first consult.
  22. Phatmanwalking, in all honesty, most days were good, but every now and then I'll feel a little tired of not so good in between. Update on the arm. Yesterday was my first day back to work so I used my arm quite a bit. It did swell some (not nearly as bad as before) and it hurt some as well. Starting today, the doc has me taking aspirin twice daily. And I have to up my Nexium to 2 times a day to protect my tummy from the aspirin. So we will see how that works. I do beleive that it is getting better, just very slowly. I was also told to start gently massaging it during the day. I'm still praying and hoping it goes away soon. Thanks for asking. Hope you are doing well. :confused1:
  23. excited, I had good days and bad days during the first two weeks. I'd have 3 or 4 great days in a row, and then one bad one. I think it's normal. Just keep getting that protein and fluids in. Glad to hear you are doing ok.
