  1. I'm finally getting more carbs in by adding healthy Snacks to my days routine. Dr Aceves says no Snacks between meals but I couldn't get my calories in without them. We are only allowed 2 oz at each meal 3 x's a day.

The last week I've been getting in about 35 carbs a day. I've been averaging losing 1/2 a pound per day since surgery.

Coppers, try cutting down on your carbs and see if that makes a difference.

    Good Luck.

  2. Ash, I've been cooking differently since my surgery. There are so many wonderful sites that have low fat/ low calorie meals. Try doing a search for those recipes and try them out. So far my hubby has loved everything, and he really doesn't even notice that they are low cal low fat. Web MD has some great recipes. Hope that helps and good luck.

  3. What other Ask Dr. Aceves questions did you have? Are there any you wished you would have asked him? Glad he sutures over the staple lines makes me feel better. Getting close...

Stuck, before I had my surgery I would just jot down questions I wanted to ask my Doc, but to be honest with you, I didn't ask very many once there because he was so detailed in our dicussion the day before surgery that he pretty much asnwered every one of my questions before I could ask them.

There are several good threads on this forum with lists of questions to ask your doc if you are interested in those. I'll see if I can find one and post the link.

  4. Big sigh....I haver surgery in TWO days...I almost can't believe it. I have been reading and preparing myself mentally and emotionally to start this journey. I am so excited to finally get a new lease on life BUT I am also so scared. The one thing that I hate, that controls my life, I am scared to give up....what is wrong with me??? The unknown is always such a scary thing, but what I will gain in the end is worth any and all sacrifices to get my health back for ME and MY KIDS. I just hope I have the strength and courage everyday to get through this. I have learned so much from so many people on this site...and with all the knowledge I have gained I can only hope I am a little prepared to face this! Thanks to everyone for starting this journey with me!

I'm so excited for you. You will do fine. You are strong enough and your positive outlook will help you get through the first couple of weeks which can be a little stressful and uncomfortable. Hang in there and keep up the positive attitude. It does make a difference. :)
