KimChi, Hi and welcome to the forum. I was one of the people who also was going to get the band until I found out about all the complications and found out about the sleeve. Best wishes to you along this wonderful/new journey. Look forward to hearing how you are doing along the way.

Kudo's Lee!!! Great job so far.

Cricket, Welcome to the forum and congratulations on getting your sleeve date. Everything you are feeling is normal. It is a huge life changing event, but each day gets easier and becomes the norm. It's all about changing our habits and relationship with food. It definitely works! Best wishes to you.

Stacie, I'm so sorry things aren't going well for you. I don't really know what to say but I know from your words that your are hurting emotionally. I beleive very strongly in the power of prayer, so you can count on me to be praying for your healing and recovery every day. Please keep up posted on how you are doing.

dybarra, I had the exact same feelings you are having. I was really scared to eat anything. Just take it slow and you will be fine. Chew everything very well and eat slowly. It's just a learning process, but I think your fears are very normal.
Good Luck.

I'm finally getting more carbs in by adding healthy Snacks to my days routine. Dr Aceves says no Snacks between meals but I couldn't get my calories in without them. We are only allowed 2 oz at each meal 3 x's a day.
The last week I've been getting in about 35 carbs a day. I've been averaging losing 1/2 a pound per day since surgery.
Coppers, try cutting down on your carbs and see if that makes a difference.
Good Luck.

Ash, I've been cooking differently since my surgery. There are so many wonderful sites that have low fat/ low calorie meals. Try doing a search for those recipes and try them out. So far my hubby has loved everything, and he really doesn't even notice that they are low cal low fat. Web MD has some great recipes. Hope that helps and good luck.

Congrats on your your decision! I was sleeved by Dr. Aceves In January and I cannot speak highly enough about him or his staff. I don't think you will be disappointed. Best wishes to you.

Youknowit, congratulations on your first "eat out" experience. It is scary at first because it's all so new and it's hard to know how to react and respond. You did great. If all else fails, I think we can always do a bowl of Soup or a cup of chili and be fine.

Mine is 36, but over sewed to be closer to a 34. I am able to eat 1/4 a cup or 2 oz per meal. I'm one month out and my weight loss since surgery has been 17.5 lbs.

Avilda & Fitatfifty, welcome to the forums! Congrats on your sleeve decisions as well. I personally think the sleeve is the only way to go, but I am a bit biased too. Best wishes to you both!

What other Ask Dr. Aceves questions did you have? Are there any you wished you would have asked him? Glad he sutures over the staple lines makes me feel better. Getting close...Stuck, before I had my surgery I would just jot down questions I wanted to ask my Doc, but to be honest with you, I didn't ask very many once there because he was so detailed in our dicussion the day before surgery that he pretty much asnwered every one of my questions before I could ask them.
There are several good threads on this forum with lists of questions to ask your doc if you are interested in those. I'll see if I can find one and post the link.

Tiff...did you ever think a year ago that people would be congratulating you for being half the woman you were before?
Congrats!!! You look stunning!

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone. The last few meals, I have measured out what I "should" be eating and then pulled back about a teaspoon or so. By doing this, I haven't had any of the shoulder blade pain that I described before.:lol0: Doing my happy dance! :lol0:
Glad that worked for you Mini! :blushing:

Fantastic Job!!!

My instructions were to never eat more than 2oz at a time. That's pretty much what I've been sticking to. So far I haven't felt hungry after stopping at the 2 oz so it must be the right amount for my tummy.

Welcome bobcat! This site is a great information source and if you can't find your question answered in previous posts, just ask.

Big sigh....I haver surgery in TWO days...I almost can't believe it. I have been reading and preparing myself mentally and emotionally to start this journey. I am so excited to finally get a new lease on life BUT I am also so scared. The one thing that I hate, that controls my life, I am scared to give up....what is wrong with me??? The unknown is always such a scary thing, but what I will gain in the end is worth any and all sacrifices to get my health back for ME and MY KIDS. I just hope I have the strength and courage everyday to get through this. I have learned so much from so many people on this site...and with all the knowledge I have gained I can only hope I am a little prepared to face this! Thanks to everyone for starting this journey with me!I'm so excited for you. You will do fine. You are strong enough and your positive outlook will help you get through the first couple of weeks which can be a little stressful and uncomfortable. Hang in there and keep up the positive attitude. It does make a difference.
