I never had any troubles could eat what I wanted while I was there only after trip back home band tighten and I lost 40 extra lbs. over a couple of months. I loved it Drs did not.
I took round trip to UK more than a year a ago come home and Band was so tight Dr recommended and an complete unfill PLEASE do not do it. It you get too tight just take a small amount out at a time until you lose some weight NEVER to a complete unfill biggest mistake of my Band life still searching for what I had before.

Samantha C ,
I always kept a tight band too just never get a complete unfill because you will never get that same feeling again. I miss my tight band had to have an unfill because took a long airline trip and band tightened up even more tight I lost too much weight and they talked me into a complete unfill just to let my body have a rest and gain some weight BIG MISTAKE, only take some out NEVER take all out I guess unless you have a slip or you will never find that good old feeling again. I am refilling now and they are taking forever to do it nothing feels the same. If I ever get back to the same spot they will have to strap me down to remove any fill

Had my band unfill because I took a 12 hour flight roundtrip to UK from US and the 24 hours in the air tightened my band so tight I could barely get Fluid down tried to wait it out but weight just dropped off and I must say I loved it but my Drs and husband were not impressed. My husband pushed for an unfill . . . . a complete unfill until I could gain the 30 lbs I had lost since the trip (2 months). I had never been unfilled since I had the Band in 2009. Went for the complete unfill against my will and gained 30 lbs really fast with band being that tight it was like being on a strict diet and then stopping . . . weight just pours on. Now I am refilling but it is not the same. Never and I say never get a complete unfill unless no other answer to fix the problem. Take out half, take out 3/4 don't take out all. I always believed and still believe the less you mess with your band the less chances you have to to have problems

I have had the band since 2009. I have taken Seroquel and Topamax for many years. Now have been changed from all meds to just one Seroquel XR too afraid will start to put on weight with Seroquel going in 24 hours instead of just at night. Just wondering if anyone else going through this weight again scare with their meds.

Go see the surgeon who did the surgery and talk to them maybe just need a fill and refresher course to get you going! Also a lot of good book on the subject look on Amazon. I have a bunch of good ones. Good luck.

Banded since 2009. A big gulp of warm coke with some lemon juice will go down but will come right back up with whatever is stuck so be in bathroom. May take a time or two always works for me.

When you go in for a fill or unfill does you Dr. always do it or a nurse? I have always had my Dr do it this next appointment a nurse will be doing it? Thanks.

I have had my band since 2009 also and I plan on having it for a long time. Sometimes it gets too tight on it's own and I have to go have an unfill. I also have been one who since I have had it vomit alot no matter how I try to eat, small and slow bites but I have never slipped thank God. Just try to follow all the rules and you should be fine.
-
I never had that problem but the band has a mind of it's own so you never know, so I say anything that changes blame it on the band. You ever need to talk just message me.

I have had my band since 2009 and I have had friends who like to stay tight and some who like to stay really loose. I have chosen to keep my Band tight which requires you to adjust your lifestyle to that. Smaller bites and chewing even more. I can eat and drink just fine just prefer to stay tighter than other people. No bite of pizza or Hamburger has passed these lips in 4 years and that has helped me. Maybe not you or someone else but it has helped me.

Sometimes you have to eat like you have restriction even if you do not have it.

Feeling alone so many friends have move on to sleeve or bypass. I have not had any trouble so never moved on. Some of them have had better success and some have not with second operation. Have not been here in a year or so I so wanted to see who is still here.

I am a little past 4 years post opt. and even when I was new to the site we were 'newbies' back then, don't let it bother you, it's just a term not meant to make any one feel bad, I was proud to be a "newbie." Just read what you want and pass up what you don't want to read, we all get our favorites and the ones we just pass up Good luck to you!!

July 13th was 4 years for me. I have not been here in a long time and I miss it. Will be fun to see people I have not seen in a long time. Have been doing good keeping the weight off. On some meds that cause some weight gain so trying to battle that but need the med so seem to be managing it. How is everyone? Everyone in my support group has moved on the other operations and I am the only Band but it is working for me so I am keeping it.

Destynee1: Keep it up I will join you soon. This last Friday my dog ChaCha died form CHF. I have had her for 14½ years and just can not make myself get up and dance yet. I know I need the workout for my body and my depression but just can't do it yet.
Keep it up I really think it is the best workout better than any DVD in my book. I will join you soon.

I have to admit I am finding this addicting. Of course I do it alone. I have clinical depression and I think this is helping my mindset. Also making my jeans feel so good.
Oh and the music has to be LOUD!!

Okay it is Thursday Dec. 6. I have still been going ever day, at least 30 minutes, sometimes 45 and about 4 times an hour. Pants are feeling loose and it gets easier each time. Good for my mind and body.

I think there are different ways to say things. It just seemed a little mean FLORIDAYS . . . hey look at your weightloss, you DO seem to know how to work with the Band. Congratulations on your weightloss it is GREAT!. And I take back my mean remark now since I reread everything.
Sometimes we need a "nice understanding" post and some with "lots of advice" and of course the "Kick in the Butt". I have needed the "kick in the butt" many times.myself, I have also given the "kick in the butt" reply to others.
I am not enabler, I just felt a connection with her words. Sometimes we need to be welcomed in before we get the kick in the butt. I did not baby her I told true facts. She was angry at a lot of people including herself, no Doctor should talk that way, unless they were sitting at the next table by you at pizza Hut and watched you down a whole pizza. I would not put up with an unprofessional Dr. I would leave. After the past 3 years being banded and on the message board. I have seen a lot of people that were treated that way and thought it was normal.
My Dr saw all his LapBanders and did their fills himself not a nurse or PA. He was ALWAYS respectful and nice and very encouraging. Wish everyone had that. We should all be nice and help each other. With written words it is hard to know the what the same words spoken would sound like.

I always wanted to wear black knee high boots like I did when I was a teenager . . . but now I am too old too. Should have had Band twenty years ago.

Hey get it out. Only hurts you to keep it inside. Long is okay, but parargraphs help lol. Feel free to message me anytime. I will help cheer you on . . . we all need that. Remember they are only Doctors not God. Plus you are paying them to do a service for you.
There are a lot of really great doctors out there and a few not so good, just keep looking and don't be scared to go in. So what if they say you gained . . . well that why we are there right? Otherwise we would be in our bikini on the beach right?

Ok sorry for all the posts, but I made myself read the whole thing. You just need a new Dr to help you with aftercare. You need to go to support groups. Not everyone loses really fast, I did not, mine was slow and I did not have anything wrong with my thyroid until after I was Banded. Not sure why, hey I just take the meds and lost the weight and try to keep it off.
I might go up 5 - 8 lbs and then back down and then up again but I keep it in that range. But I am living and eating the best I can. You sound like you are giving up and gonna go it alone why?? You have an expensive little tool in you that can help if you you let it. Find a new Dr, get your fills slowly, I got mine a ½ cc at a time and it worked for me. Some people can work with bigs fill but I could not.
I say don't give up, the Band really can help, get new Dr, find support group, be honest with yourself, workout and give it time. Sorry you had a bad Dr. but it is not written in blood you have to keep seeing him.

Lyrics to Monarch :
Poison
Into my eyes
Swallow
All of the lies
I'm trying my hardest
Not to be a target
Don't try to save me
I'm going my own way
You must think that I'm a fool
Butterfly in winter out of my cocoon
Now the wind blows so bitterly
I will never know my destiny
I could have gone your way
Something inside wasn't right
I tried to please you
To do just as you asked
I followed you
I swear I tried my best
You must think that I'm a fool
Butterfly in winter out of my cocoon
Now the wind blows so bitterly
I will never know my destiny
Now the world is mine
I'm flying all alone
I can see for miles clearly in the glow
You may think I'm scared but I know I am okay
In this moment I am safe
Sounds like you need to let go of the anger . . .let the past be the past and really start a new start. Good luck!!

Nice long post but hard to read, you should edit it and put in some paragraphs so more people can read it. Hurts the eyes.
Band or no Band I think you should come here for support and support others too. The Band does not work for everyone and everyone doesn't work with their Band. Lose it however you can safely. You can always message me if you need to talk.
