  1. thanks everyone for your responses. I was really nervous about eating the pizza last night, plus I was second guessing my slow success.. I have taken today today slowly. I do think this fill has made a slight difference. Hopefully I can pick up the weight loss pace... I hate being at a plateau.
  2. Ok.. I just got my 2nd fill today. I felt hardly any restriction after the first fill. I really hope to feel restriction this time around. My doctor said to do liquids for the first 2 days and mushie for 2 days after wards liquids.... I have been out of town and came home today... my daughter had one of those school musicals tonight... after my dh took us out for pizza. I ate the smallest piece on the pan and 1/2 a bread stick,,,, What I am wondering is will the band get the accurate restriction even though I ate,,, what could the side effects be? Does everyones doctor require the above diet after fills? I have a 14 cc band and 7 cc filled I believe,,,,

    Really Great Day

I cant wait to exsperience shopping your style!!! BTW thanks for including that recipe,,, I think I will make it for dinner this week
  4. Ok so here is my situation... I have a infection. I am 17days post op. When I went to my 1 wk apt I saw my doc partner. My incision was oozing a little at the time green and his partner who saw me said its normal and incsions can ooze for months after surgery. I told him I did not feel comfortable and maybe I should be on antibiotics,,and he told me not to worry about it. Since then its gotten much worst, I think its getting better and then its not. It is now still oozing green crap (non-smelly) and it looks like the stitches ( I was glued) I did not have (no stitches) opened up at the top. ITs about the size of a pinto bean. ITs about the width of a bean and I was telling my unsupportive (he thinks its fine) DH that i will have a crater scar when its healed. I did make another Doc apt last Wed but by then I had a scab and it seemed to be healing.. thurs the scab burst with Green puss... Thurs I called my friend who is a nurse said that Antio-biotics is a good idea and if I had any in my cabinet to take Keflex. I have done this since Thursday night and didn't see a huge difference Friday. Its now Sat and it looked ok, a scar was formed, it was wet in the middle... while dressing I lightly put a cloth over the incision so my clothing wouldn't run it and the scab got removed,,,, what do I do.,,, I feel like I cant win and I dont want my doctor to chastise me for wasting his time, or yell at me for coming sooner..., I feel as if Im not going to win no matter what I do,,, shouldnt I be improving being on antibiotics? thanks for your time,,,,
  5. Hey according to our "old president" certain intimate contact is not "Sexual relations",,,,,,,,, :w00t: had to say that....
  6. I really hope that my post about my infection did not get you totally down, I am shocked that i even got one. I think I am a strange individual case. My doctor didn't stitch my incision together (top layer) but glued it wich I wonder is part of the problem? My doctor had us on a liquid diet for 2 wks post-op and 2 wks mushie food diet wich is 28 days. Sounds like yours is a little more lenient. As for the main subject I think the other gals are right,,, do it when you are comfortable. I don't think there's anything wrong with making them wait. When it happens then they will appreciate it more
  7. I wanted to update everyone on this situation,, I have been through a lot since Sat morning when I posted. My main incision was healed in the middle, scabbed on the bottom, then abssesed on top. Sat evening the bottom one was full of this green puss,, I was really concerned. Plus I had been exsperiencing leg cramps and severe head-ache. Sat night I researched post-op infection of incision and read that cramping can be a sign of a blood clot... Its interesting you guys talked about bad doctors/ poor bedside manner. I called my doc answering service and with my luck the doc on call was again my doctors partner. He called me back and was a total prick. He told me to go to the ER or call the doctor Monday,, and luckily he( the partner) was off,,, He made it abundantly clear he did NOT want to talk on the phone, saying "its was the weekend" I ignored that comment completely ..(that's why hes on call) I told him this all could been avoided if he actually took care of the problem on my first week check-up. I asked him what was the worst case scenario.. He then said "that they may need to surgically cut it open and let it drain for a few days" (with me hospitalized) He then made the comment "hopefully the ER doctors will do this if not I will get another phone call" This Doctor is VERY good looking but its obvious the $$ and his looks have gotten to his head.. The ER was very helpful.. and the wait wasn't that long. They did a ton of cultures, urine samples, blood work, & cleansing. They said if I had waited a matter of days it would have needed to be surgically re-opened,, my blood work was o.k.(had a few concerns) but needed to be followed and re-done in 2-3 days. If the incision was not already split open they would have cut the stitches to let the top drain. I had the top layer of skin glued.. I now have a follow up apt Thurs. I told the nurse about my exsperience with the partner. She said she was helpless in this.. I feel a little baffled because of the $18,000 my doctor scored off the surgery I have a 3 month global period. I kind of feel stuck atm. I hope he actually listens to my concerns at my apt. And yah I am hungry and prob wont get my first fill next week
  8. I was banded on Tues July 28th. Everything seemed to go perfectly smoothly. Waking up in recovery was a very painful experience, and my tummy still hurts. I am hoping the pain will subside soon. My big question is this: I have huge bruises all over my stomach were my incisions are. there at least a 4 inch radius of a circle, if not bigger. On my side by my hip I have a HUGE 6 inch long by 3-4 inch wide bruise. This is just a random weird spot for bruising I would think... unless the doc during surgery threw a breif case at me. Is bruising this much normal.., when my DH saw the bruise on my hip he flipped. Has anyone else had this experience?

    A little bit embarssaing

ROFL ROFL ROFL what a subject!!! I can honestly say that the first week post-op I was Def NOT in the mood. I was bruised, sore, and I felt cut up!!! Now I am 10 post op and of coarse once you do """" then you will get back in the groove again. Whats weird is when your significant other see's a big weight loss. Its kind of nice to hear "wow honey your butt is getting smaller"
  10. How very interesting,,, I bet there is some weird mystery sticky thing they put on us all,,, but since were under no one remembers.. I am now 10 days post op and I still have the glimmer of the bruise. I showed my doc at my 1 wk apt and he said some people look more banged up then others. That was his only comment. I do think its like cooking something, they put all sorts of things in us and stir us up. At least the Gas part is mostly over,

    Who measures food?

When I was on my post-op diet I was a real stickler for measuring food. My liquids I would use a 1/2 cup =4 oz. I wanted to know ezacly what something weighed, plus how many calories was in what. When I first went into post-op me and my DH went out and bought a bunch of little tiny rubber-maid 4 oz containers to put my broth, and jello into. The problem that I have found now that I am 1 wk post op is I don't fill full after eating 4 oz. It takes me 8 oz before I feel full. I cant wait to get my first fill... I hate eating that amount but at the same time I know with just eating broth how many calories am I really absorbing? When I am able I plan on faithfully measuring out my portions and calorie counting, plus working out to get my best weight loss. I hope my extra skin is not too much of a issue. Good luck

    No restriction

Remember the fact we were banded is a big deal!!! I am still on the liquid diet, then will be on the mushie one in another week. I look at it like its a challenge. To blow it would only being making yourself a failure. I don't believe I have anything in my port but I want my body to adjust like there is. Anytime I eat I use a 4-6oz cup to put food into. I will eat this (soup or jello) If I am still hungry wich I am atm I think its important to wait a hour before attempting again,, The 2nd attempt should be a protein shake (unless you had this first) Getting the Protien in your body, it will think that its fuller. One big benefit to eating like this is we will cont. to loose weight and for me getting on a scale and seeing a few lbs off is a big accomplishment. Good luck hope this worked
  13. WOO HOO!!! I am so excited for you!! I bet it was so nice to buy what you wanted to buy and not "what fit" I have my brothers wedding to attend in the end of Sept and hope to have the same motivating experience. I hope I will have a big dramatic drop like yours!!! It will be nice to see peoples reactions. I cant wait until a reg airline seat is a little big!!! Rofl save your tags to your cloths you may need to return them. JK GOOD LUCK!!!!!
  14. I was banded on July 28th and over all everything seems to have gone well (besides my mystery bruises) My ownly problem is I am still in a lot of pain. At the hospital they gave me some thing you suck in your breath so you keep your lungs clear. I am still waking up hurting REALLY bad and have been on liquid Vicodin. The problem is I am always feeling like a throb in my chest. I think it is related to the band. I also feel like I have like a stitch in the side of my chest. When I breath in I feel like I have ran a mile, and a little breathless.. Is this normal? I will see my doc on Monday so I am hoping if it still hurts I can put it off until then. I am not running a fever its just uncomfortable... has anyone had the same expserience?
  15. Ok so I went to a pre-op class a few weeks ago. In the class they told of a gal who did not follow the pre-op diet and when the doctor opened her up her liver was way to large to cont the procedure. I have been on the pre-op diet for nearly 2 wks. I have followed it nearly to the T. I have a diffused fatty liver and I have a fear my liver will still be to big to finish the procedure. Is this a problem and what are the chances of this happening:sad:?
  16. you guys are so helpful!! Your the greatest. We'll I was banded Tuesday 28th and nothing was said about my liver. You are right along with our extra weight I do believe that the liver would have more of a chance to become "Fatty" I was diagnosed with the diffused fatty liver while in the ER with Kidney Stones.. the perfect fit good-looking doctor talked to me for 10mins about it telling me if I didn't do anything to resolve the issue I would be dead in less then 10 yrs. I also believe our bariatric doc put us on a high protein shake diet for this reason. I was such nerves when I wrote this thread. I get in a tendency to over analyze everything. I guess if you follow the diet the best you can, you cant do better then that. Thanks again and I hope this thread helps peoples peace of minds:laugh:
  17. I just got banded this week and I felt the same way yesterday.. at the same time I think its very important to be CAREFUL!! I had a 4oz protein shake and waited a hour then had 4 oz of broth. I thought I was Starving. After eating the broth I felt "full" which is weird because it was all liquids,,, I felt miserable all night, which misery is no fun, I'd rather have the hungry feeling. One thing you can always try which helps me is get sugar free popsicles, my favorite are the fudgesicles. They seem to be hitting the spot between meals. Being hungry isn't always a bad feeling, remember it goes hand in hand with loosing weight. Also remember the more protein (shakes) you take in the more full your tummy will feel.:crying:

    Who knows about your surgery?

Honestly I will be banded in 2 days. I feel the same way about keeping it private. For me its a as to need to know basis. My brother who is a doctor doesn't even know. I am embarrassed that I have gained this amount of weight. post-op I don't want to be under the micro-scope as well. My few personal friends who know I am being banded know I have already lost nearly 10lbs and are already saying,, maybe you shouldn't have the procedure done.. In every circle there are always gossips. People can be cruel and honestly I have learned something. Things aren't always everyone else's business.
