    given up

First of all, you haven't really given up or you wouldn't be reaching out for help Second, I am in a similiar situation. When I eat solids, it hurts. Sometimes I can go a few weeks eating anything, then it starts hurting and I can barely get down soup. I tried telling my doctor but he just wanted to remove fluid everytime I talked to him. As soon as he removed a tiny bit there was NO restriction and I gained weight. I am really not sure what to suggest as I am just as desperate. I find myself living on ice cream during those painful times, which doesn't help the weight loss. I just want you to know you are not alone. I think some people judge because they have had it a little smoother, however, we were all fat to begin with or none of us would have been banded, and we all know what it feels like to be judged, so I am surprised even the successful banders are so mean. Good luck
  5. Hello. I was banded in July 2009. I have only lost about 10 pounds  I finally started losing weight this summer but that's only because I had severe pain whenever I ate anything solid. I also started getting reflux so the doctor took all the fluid out for 6 weeks. I gained it all back. I am now filled back to about 4cc. I was able to eat about anything with the exception of breads, rice, and pasta. Now I am feeling the pain again when I eat. But if they take a little fluid out when I don't feel pain, I have no restriction. I know they tell you its not suppose to hurt, but honestly, for those who have been successful when losing, what does it feel like when you eat?

    A little bit embarssaing

Wow, you were just banded. Give your body a chance to heal. I definitly did not have any at that point (in fact I still haven't lol). My libido is back but I still get sore when I bend at the waist so I am not ready yet. Give yourself at least a month.

    Hurting

I was banded on 7/13 and I still get that burning once in a while. My doesn't come when I sleep, but it happens alot when I bend down to pick something up or sit down in a chair. I haven't asked my doc about it yet, but I am not too concerned at this point.

    Eating ALL THE TIME

Thank You so much for answering me. It feels much better to know that I am not alone in this. I have been beating myself up for so many years that I can't help but do it again. I feel like everyone else is doing better than me and I am the only one who can't manage food after surgery. I definitly don't binge anymore, but I could do better. The office told me that most people are "begging" for their first fill when the time comes. I guess I am going to fit into that group.
  9. 3 1/2 weeks out from surgery and I can eat like I used to. I don't chew slow, I drink with meals and I know I eat too much. I am not doing it on purpose, it is old habits coming back...I am not scheduled for a first fill for two more weeks and my weight loss has stopped. I am so afraid of gaining it back. Also, my incisions are healed but my port is sore. Is that normal?
  10. I want some ideas for simple, but good mushies. Is shredded cheese one?

    I feel a little guilty....

I knew that feeling long before I was banded. I never worry about the hubby but I do worry about my son not getting well balanced meals. My solution : kid kuisines. You get them in the frozen dinner area of the store. Kids love them, they have decent serving sizes, they are balanced with a veggie (usually corn), the chicken is all white meat (not processed) and they are quick and easy to make. My son eats one for dinner at least twice a week. They even come with a little desert like pudding or a brownie. Try one sometime :tongue2:

    miserable help

I was really hungry the second I woke up from anesthesia. I remember telling my nurse I wanted a steak. 2 weeks out I am still pretty hungry and hating the protein shakes. I also regret getting my band most of the time. I was in horrible pain the until 2 days ago and now I am hungry and I get upset that I can't eat what I want, even though I feel better. This is probably not a very helpful reply, but I just wanted you to know you are not alone.:tongue2:
  13. I was banded almost two weeks ago Tuesday. I had a lot of problems with chest pain caused by gas and diarrhea and I think I drove the Dr.'s office nuts with calls. Now those problems seem to be getting better, but I have now noticed there is an increase in redness and tenderness in my port incision. It does not hurt alot, maybe a 2 on a scale of 1-10, but it is still a bit of an increase. It is also red under the incision. The area does not look inflamed or irritated and I don't have a fever so I am wondering if I should call the office or just wait for my appointment on Tuesday. Has anyone else had an increase in redness that just went away?

    I'm new

Hi Crystal, Be ready to be hot all the time in GA (and I don't mean pretty) How has your recovery been? My has been pretty uncomfortable so far. I am looking foward to starting finely chopped foods Tuesday. I am so sick of protein drinks.
