I have type 1 diabetes, have gained 90 pounds in the past 5 years and had my appointments today in Boston - I am scheduling for the surgery on 9/9/08 and will have my date soon! I would LOVE to hear how things go for you and to see if you have any suggestions on what really worked well or didn't work as you go through the surgery and recovery. I am most concerned with treating lows and/or getting too high...

Liquid, I am so sorry to hear about your broken heart. you are on the right path, you are doing good things for you (starting with the surgery)---Keep GOING! You are worth it! I am sooooo sorry and I understand the feeling of desperation--I think most of us do. YOU are NOT alone. Hang in there and take care of yourself!

Hey ladies, I have been walking and replacing some meals by testing out the protein shakes... and excitedly I have lost 10 lbs. in the past month (super happy):w00t: But as the date approaches (AUG. 26th) and this is all REAL, I am getting scared. Will I ever be/feel the same again. I just made the 40 BMI and wonder, well--maybe I should just loose 30 more lbs. and forego the surgery--but inevitably, I can almost assure you the weight will come back with a vengence as soon as I get too stressed or depressed or ...(Fill in the blank). So I know this is a good thing, but the idea of surgery and recovery are throwing me for a loop. -
My hubby and I are gettting banded next month. We are both teachers. I am concerned about the school year because schedules (especially lunch) are so rushed and hectic. Eating slowly is not easy during the day and I forsee myself eating shakes for Breakfast and lunch just so I won't throw up!! I'd love to connect with other teachers out there--maybe start a group. Hey all--thanks for inviting me to this cool group! My hubby was actually on the boards before me. He is dwrd73! His date is the 25th and the doctors actually just changed mine to the 26th of August:w00t::eek: crazy stuff--we are both teachers from Pennsylvania and start school the next week. I think I will taking a lot of zanax!!

We are getting our operations in the same week. Last week of August the 25th and 28th. Hopefully I won't be laboring too much with gas pain over Labor Day!:ohmy: -
Hey there--new here. My husband has been chatting for a few weeks now, but I am finally finding time. He and I are getting our surgeries in the same week. My approval was taking more time, but they just added some additional operations that week and scheduled me too! Yeah. I love forums, and am so glad there is this support on-line!
