  3. I went to the seminar today and had my heart set on the sleeve. The surgeons in this area offer all 4 surgeries... DS, RNY, sleeve gastrectomy and band, but it seemed like they gave more info on the DS and RNY. I'm confused as to why it seems like they push those two options. I did not want to go that route. Anyone with PCOS?

Hi ladies. I'm still pre op, but I have PCOS. I feel for those of you who are having fertility issues. I have 3 kids, but I had a very hard time getting pregnant with my second one. It is depressing when you can't get pregnant. I've been there and actually was losing weight when I became pregnant with my second and third babies. I also have a very large belly. I hate hate hate it! I have the facial hair too and it is embarrassing!! I think I am done having kids, but I'm Hopi g the surgery will alleviate some of the other symptoms. Sleeve vs. other WLS

I'm pretty dead set on the sleeve. I don't see a reason to reroute intestions and deal with all the malabsorption issues if it is not needed. If I was starting at 500-600 lbs then yea definitely I could see the benefit. He also mentioned that the DS is a two part procedure for the super obese (BMI 63+) and the sleeve is the first part of the surgery. They get their BMI lower so the complication risk goes down, then they have another surgery to convert to the DS. He said that over 50% were so successful with just the sleeve portion that they never came back for the second operation. That is pretty encouraging knowing that someone with a BMI 20+ above mine can be so successful with "just" the sleeve. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Seminar tonight

Well my husband had to work late, so he couldn't make it and he has to be at work at 4 am so by the time the seminar was over and I picked up my kids he was already asleep. He did text me during the seminar tho and ask how it was going... So at least he's trying to be supportive. I can't wait to talk to him about it. I'm so excited, but yet so scared at the same time to take this step. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Seminar tonight

He is going with me. It's not that he isn't supportive I think it's more because he's scared. He's scared of the unknown and scared something will go wrong. I really hope tonight puts him at ease. Sent from my iPhone using VST

  14. It's getting real.. I'm so nervous. I am still undecided on surgery but as each day passes I want it more and more. I just filled out my questionnaire for the seminar which is in 14 days... Made things feel a little more real Sent from my iPhone using VST
  15. I've been reading and reading.. Trying to get as much info as I can. I am still pre op I'm hoping for a surgery date in june or July. I've read where some patients and surgeons say you CAN'T have certain things ever again... Like soda, alcohol, coffee, candy etc. then some say it is fine just in small amounts. I am willing to give all of these things up, I'm just trying to get a straight forward answer. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Confused. Can we or cant we..?

I do not eat these things now because I am following my own "low calorie" diet and also trying to do high Protein. If I drink something other than Water it is diet green tea or diet coke which I'm aware I may have to cut out post op. if I have a sugary treat it is a very rare occasion. I was hoping to find out if there were things on the NEVER AGAIN list or if that is more for RNY or band patients. Sent from my iPhone using VST
