  1. I know that even when we have good restriction we can still eat around the band, but it really does sound like you need a fill. When was your last one?
  2. Have you considered some sort of bulimia? I would be very upset if they wouldn't let me see the Dr. like that. All I've ever seen is the Dr. .... no nurses or PAs
  3. Just adding in my 2 cents worth ........ It is sad a lapband surgeon would act that way .... very sad ..... As for my own experience, I have not counted calories from day one. My band has been adjusted properly, so counting calories is really not required for success with the band. I lost 100 pounds in the first year and I have maintained a normal BMI for at least 1 1/2 years. My surgeon NEVER asked me about how many calories I eat and has NEVER asked me about the foods I eat on any given day . No food journaling for me. My results speak for themselves .....
  4. My list is long. I've been very sensitive to things from day one. I'm ok with it because my weight came off fast and with no "work". I maintain my normal weight with zero work as well. Here's the no no list that comes to mind right now: Dense meat (steak, roast, pork ....) Bread Pasta Rice eggs Carbonated drinks pizza (because of the bread issue) hamburgers (because of the bread issue) anything breaded or fried I'm sure my list is longer, but those are the items that come to mind
  5. No need to go spend the money on an ipod! I just wish I could pick the station! I Love Christmas! I Play Christmas music and like all parts of the holiday! One of my fav songs this week is "Mary did you know" by Kenny Rogers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0V05-hEJZM Cheri, check out the link .....I think you will like this one too. Oh! I posted the video! Don't ask how I did it
  6. I have quite a long list of foods I can no longer tolerate. I am doing fine without those foods. I think many of those foods are what made me obese anyway. (bread, pasta,.....)
  7. He's retired ............ the BEST surgeon, but now retired .......
  8. I had mine done in Denver for $9,995. There is another surgeon in Denver doing it now for under $9,000. (both top notch surgeons from what I understand)
  9. Vitafusion brand fiber gummies have saved me! (Target) The dose is 2 per day, but I just eat one and it works great!
  10. I guess I don't understand why someone who is trying to lose weight would try to eat back the calories they just burned.
  11. Most bandsters find the ER the wrong place to go. I would take it easy for the rest of the weekend....liquids, protein shakes and so on. See if you can get in to your lapband office Monday and get a very tiny unfill. You will be surprised at how well you will do with just having .1 or .2cc removed.
  12. I tell everyone. If someone asks about how I lost all the weight I feel it is dishonest to say I eat less and exercise more .....or anything that is not the truth ..... I got lapband. It works! It was EASY! Why would I take the hard way? It would be a shame to get someone's hopes up about the old fashoned dieting that does not work. I have not had any bad feedback at all. I was banded in July 2009 and have told many people since then. People will know you have had some sort of WLS if you eat around them and you have dropped a large amount of weight.
  13. I'm also a member of the "it's all about restriction" club. I had this device wrapped around my stomach for a reason and It has been adjusted properly for results with little effort on my part. For me there is a fine line between the green zone and being too tight. I would never say being too tight is the right way. I don't count calories. It's a waste of time in my book. If I gain a pound I evaluate what I've been eating ....... ate some junk food, that explains it. If I want to drop a few more pounds I stick to healthier foods and increase activity. Simple calories in vs. calories used. I don't measure or weigh anything either (except myself).
  14. Too funny! I wish it were that easy. Thanks for the morning laugh!
  15. I'm glad you found a different surgeon. You really don't need one that makes you feel bad. The 21st will be here very fast! Best wishes on your journey!
  16. I eat salads quite a bit. I agree it depends on what is in the salads. I had taco salad last night, made at home with spring mix type lettuce, onion, red bell pepper, light red kidney beans, ground beef, cheese, a few fritos for crunch. The light red beans are softer than the dark red. Today I had a shrimp and spinach salad at applebees for lunch. I can't eat all the salad or all the shrimp. I tend to have trouble with tomatoes and cucumbers. It's trial and error to figure out what works for me. I never use iceburg lettuce. Sometimes I take spring mix type salad to work for lunch and add things like cheese and sunflower seeds. With salads I just make sure I chew every bite well.
  17. Giggles, I can only tell you what I would do. If I were having reflux and BP problems I would first make sure I was chewing properly, not making bad food choices and not eating too late in the day. If the problem was still there I would go get a very tiny unfill, like .1 or .2cc. As far as the holiday issue, I've learned to focus on things other than the food and the large amounts of food consumed during the holidays. I now focus on friends and family and enjoying their company and the spirit of the season. If you have lost enough weight to wear smaller sizes, go buy a fab christmas outfit!
  18. You have done so well. Now that calls for a reward! What will your 200 pound milestone reward be?
  19. I LOVE it!!! Thanks for sharing! what a great feeling!
  20. I stopped drinking soda (or pop where I'm from) many years ago and switched to iced tea with sweet n low. I don't like the pre-made teas because they taste spoiled to me. I use lipton tea bags. I fill a 2qt picher 3/4 of the way with hot water, let 3-4 tea bags steep for a couple hours, then add 5 sweet n lows and ice..... yum. I have tried a few things with carbonation over the past 2 years and find that they cause me quite a bit of discomfort.
  21. I was only there a few hours. It worked great for me.
  22. Thanks for the details! I cringe when I hear the crazy liquid pre-op diets people have to do. Dr. K. had me do Atkins and it worked great as a pre-op diet. The 22nd will get here fast and you will be on your way to skinnyville!
  23. I don't know if I would want to deal with a jerk for my surgery and all the follow up. My pre-op diet was 2 weeks of Atkins and I lost 8 pounds. If you did Atkins for 3 weeks 10 could be done.
  24. The ER is not the place for help with lapband. It is a place for emergencies. That being said ..... Where are you located? have you contacted all the bariactric surgeons ? The reason I ask is because my lapband doc retired in October and there were quite a few surgeons in the area wanting to take on all his patients. Income is income and there were at least 4 other surgeons wanting all the retired guy's patients to come to them.
  25. I didn't have insurance when I got banded, so I don't think there will be a problem with me not having insurance if I have a problem. I will just have to finance it and make payments like I did the first time. My min. monthly payment was around $100. I'm not sure I understand. Are you expecting a surgeon and a hospital or surg. center to do surgery for free? Just because you believe a Dr. is rich doesn't mean he or she should do your surgery for free. Here in the US if you have a true life threatening emergency you can go to most E.R.s and they have to treat you. Many people never pay the ER bill and that is how they get medical treatment free. The rest of the people who do pay end up paying for those unpaid bills in some way or another. That is one reason hospitals are so expensive. I'm not sure what kind of work you do, but I would think you expect to get paid. The surgeon also expects to get paid for his work. Many surgeons donate time to the needy as a mission, but I'm not sure lapband would fall in the guidelines of those missions.
