Regarding your weight loss halt... I have been struggling with this for awhile. I was so upset to not see the scale continue on the downward slide. But, at the height of my irritation at the lack of wt loss, I had 3 coworkers tell me that I was "disappearing." I thought a lot about what they said and relaized my pants were feeling bigger. I did not take my measurements before surgery and sure wish I would've. If you are working out, maybe the scale is not going down but your body is changing for the better. Enjoy the vacation.
  2. I saw this on the TV just today. She has two kids. It is just awful that she is doing this to herself and her kids all for attention. Sad.
  3. My doc used glue also. As far as salt water, I wouldn't chance it. I wouldn't want my vacation to be memorable because I got an infection that caused me problems. Whether you swim or not, have a great vacation.

Unfill and now I'm eating too much

I have had the same problem. My doc (and keep in mind they all seem to be different) told me I could get a fill again once I was fully hydrated, even if it was only a week later. Call your doc and double check. Best of luck.
  5. Bella, try again. I was having the same trouble yesterday and was just able to successfully open it.
  6. I am late in posting my weight for the week. I haven't lost anything. BUT when I try and load the page, I suddenly am not able to??? I will try again later today. anyone else have troubles?

    % weeks post Lap Band

I used to dread working out, especially in public. I didn't start working out regularly until 7 months after my surgery. I am nearly 10 months out. I WISH I would've started sooner, but I didn't. I will not meet the original goal I set for myself; I wonder if I would've started exercise sooner if my goal would be attainable. Now I regularly participate in Zumba (which is so energizing) and Pilates (which makes me feel so strong). I also just (last week) staring a running program. And starting this week I joined a hiking club (a hike every 1-2 weeks). Good luck finding exercises which you enjoy. Angie

    Question of the day?

This happens to me if I recently had a fill and am too tight. If I ate too fast. If I didn't chew my food enough. If I ate bread or rice or tortillas.
  10. I have a secret goal weight too. I told one person what it was and got the "oh, that's too low" response, so I don't tell people anymore. Even though I have a number in mind, I have an image of what I want to look like and that is more important to me. I WANT to be FIT!!!!
  11. Karen, thanks for that info, my Dad had a bypass and is curious about his options after gaining his weight back. I will pass this along. angie
  12. OK!! I'm setting my goal at 8 lbs. I have been struggling lately, so let's hope this is the motivation I have been lacking! This is such a great idea!
  13. Hi Stephanie, I have been banded 9 months and I understand what you are saying. I have lost 54 lbs. I was so disappointed with myself; I thought I should be further along than I am. I went in for a fill even though, deep down, I questioned whether I needed one. I got a fill and couldn't keep water down. I went back the next day and had the saline from the previous fill removed. I was talking with the PA who does the fills where I go. I told him that I was unhappy with my progress. He told me that I am doing great and that I am right on target. I know, for myself, my expectations are very high, too high I now realize. I had wanted to lose 90 in one year, that isn't going to happen. I have accepted that I will not meet the goal I had originally set for myself, which is disappointing...but we have both lost quite a bit of weight, a life-changing amount. My weight loss has slowed (I am in the 170s) and the last 10 pounds were REALLY hard to lose. I work out 3 days a week and I eat too much dairy. I am going to increase my workouts and find a substitute for my love of cheese! I wish I had some advise for you...but all I have is a clear understanding. You are doing great. Focus on how much easier life in general is; focus on how great it is to put on clothes you couldn't wear 8 months ago. You will get there, and so will I! Angie
  14. OMG, I had my first experience of being stuck today. My fault...I didn't chew enough and I was VERY hungry so I ate too fast. LESSON LEARNED! When I first started to have symptoms I had no idea what was happening (it was 2 hours after I ate lunch). My upper back started to hurt really, really bad like major muscle cramps; then my abdominal area started to hurt. I started salivating and then heaving. And to make matters worse...I had to puke in a PUBLIC TOILET! I will never be the same, sob sob. I was at a workshop, so I left early. I had to pull over half way home to throw up again. My back hurt so bad I was crying. I hope that doesn't happen again...sigh.:blushing:

    Question about my Port

Loulou, Sometimes it feels like my port has moved too. I don't know if it moves or if it just feels that way. For me it really seems to be in a different spot after exercising. I was banded in late June and sometimes I feel that soreness too. After your doctor's appt, please post again and let us know what is going on.

    stuck & it sucks!

Equigle, Sounds like we had the same experience. I didn't throw up either, just the pain! I guess I needed a reminder about how I should be eating!
  17. I am presently having the opposite issue. I am stressed and, old habits die hard. I am eating because I am stressed and not because I am hungry. I ate TOO much yesterday and today. Strange how much our bodies change with stress.

    stuck & it sucks!

Thanks for the advice Mickey! I am not sure how I feel about liquid meat tenderizer, though it would probably be better than the pain! I will keep my eye out for the papaya enzyme, it would be nice to have on hand just in case!
  19. At 2 months out I was down 24 pounds, 8 of which were pre-surgery. My doc was super happy with my wt loss and I was too. I am now nearly 3 months out and am down 33 lbs. I have mini goals, to lose 8 lbs per month, but if it doesn't happen I just keep working. I want to lose 60 more and my goal is to lose it within 8 months. Slow but steady wins the race, right? I am proud of you and everyone else who has made this choice to become healthier. I know it is hard to watch the weight come off slowly, but focus on how you look different and how your clothes fit differently (make a big deal of your non-scale victories), you are doing great girl, keep it up! Angie

    stuck & it sucks!

It was traumatizing! I am sorry to hear that this happens regularly to some of you. You are stronger than I am...I was crying and writhing, being a big cry-baby-pee-pee-pants! I am not sure I will ever eat tortillas again...but thanks for the ideas of how to speed up the recovery if it happens again.
  21. Well, the restriction was too much at first...couldn't hardly drink water, so I went in the next day and had some removed. He had put in 2 ccs and when I went back he took out 1.5 ccs. I figured I wouldn't have much restriction, but I do. I have started losing again after 3 weeks of nothing. I have lost 3 lbs since my fill 4 days ago. Since I got stuck yesterday I am going to stick to liquids today and maybe mushies tomorrow so I will prob lose a bit more. Bought myself some super cute pants to celebrate my success; since celebration will no longer include food indulgence I have opted for clothes and shoes! As far as exercising, I had to have minor surgery on my toe, so I haven't been doing much. Had to take some time off pilates because the poses were causing pain. I would encourage you to join a club or group for exercise just because you will surround yourself with people who are also wanting to be healthy, plus you may find an accountability partner. I find it is pretty easy to put off exercising so I am looking for a partner here to keep my motivated and accountable. I have rambled on enough! I hope things are well! Angie
  22. I think the hardest part, and the part which made it hellish (for me anyway) was that the weight came off so quickly at first (especially while on liquids). Then weight loss slows (to a healthier pace) and for me, I was so used to getting on the scale and watching it consistently go down that it was hard to stall out. I didn't gain, I was real careful about my food choices and serving sizes but it took A LOT of will power and I stayed the same weight for about 4 weeks. I think if you are aware that it may come you are already better off. If you get stuck in hell, start a new thread, we are here to help each other! Good luck Angie

    What can't you eat??

I have trouble with bread items (toasted or not) and tortillas, but if I chew them til pulverized it is ok. I have noticed that anything I eat that is finger food is hard; I think it is because I take too big of a bite. When the food is on my fork I am a better judge of how much is going into my mouth. I can eat eggs, but scrambled are difficult.
  24. Hey everybody, I got my second fill this afternoon. I have been gaining and losing the same pound for 3 weeks now! I am hoping to lose it and more now that I will have better restriction. I am so happy with my weight loss though. I am under 200 lbs, wearing clothes that I hid in a box under my bed because they didn't fit, and I found something I lost about 5 years ago...self confidence! I still have more wt to lose, but I am feeling like a new person already. I have joined a club for those who love to paddle (flat-water kayak is my fav) and am taking a pilates class at the college and I don't feel embarassed or out of place. HOORAH!!
  25. "Sugar-free" items make me horribly sick so I asked my doc and nut and they both said no big deal to eat the stuff that is not sugar free.
