I can't be Dr. Umbach's only patient. I haven't been banded yet but hope to be in less than a month. If there are any other patients that use this dr. please let me know. Just wondering the usual stuff. I'm getting very anxious and nervous about having the LB. I can't wait for it to be over.

I too am in Las Vegas. I chose Dr. Umbach who is in Henderson. He's close to my house so it's a little more convenient. I have not been approved for the Lap Band yet. I have Tricare Standard as well. I'm about 87 pounds overweight and have high cholesterol and documented fatty liver (wondering if that might help with approval). I'm just waiting for my medical records from the base before my dr. can submit my info. Hopefully within the next week or so. I'm just nervous about not getting approved. Any insights?

OK, so I have Tricare Standard (West) and am almost done with the whole process to submit the claim. I'm kinda nervous that it will not be approved. I'm about 87 pounds overweight and I have high cholesterol and a fatty liver (yes I have that documented). Everything else is fine. I think my BMI is just at 40. I'm so nervous I will not be approved. Any insight???

I am in the same boat. Out of the 5 cholesterol blood tests I failed all 5. I'm not quite 100 lbs. overweight. It's more like 83 pounds overweight. I'm really nervous about Tricare not approving it because of that. My BMI is just about 40. I also have Tricare Standard. Oh, I've also tested having a fatty liver so I'm hoping that helps my approval.
