  1. I'm in DFW now. How can I join the group without using a facebook account. Most of my friends do not know I have a band and would like to continue to keep it private.
  2. I come on occasionally, haven't been back in a month. At first I was on all the time, but life keeps getting more hectic. I do need to come back more often to keep myself in check.
  3. Banded 7/22/09, lost 68lbs...32 to go!!! Hopefully by May, but that might be asking much :/
  4. I take children's liquid motrin. I actually feel it works better than the over the counter pills. I just dont want a pill stuck in my pouch stomach. Pills that are not fully swallowed can cause erosion and ulcers. I know that happened to a lady in my support group. if u take pills, just make sure to drink lots of water and make it go down well...if u feel it stuck, keep drinking!
  5. sorry, but this is the hardest damn thing i've ever done! It was not easy shelling out thounsands of dollars of my OWN money to pay for this. I was too fat for insurance and unfortunately the gov thinks students dont need help (sorry my rant) It was not easy learning to re-eat...ask anyone who had to step out for 30 min during a meal and try to explain what was happening For some of us, it was not easy giving up the comfort of food. The only easy thing with the band was that i gave me the first experience of feeling "full" I had ever had in my life. It has given me a chance to finally loose the weight. It is nothing more than a tool. For some, the band life came easy and allowed them what they could not do for so long. However, without that ever so hard life change, we will not loose the weight. So for those looking for an easy way out...keep looking. For those who know they need the help and are willing to change, try the band. I have a long battle to fight, but with the band, I am fighting vs before the band when I was already defeated. I agree with what people said before, it is not the easy way out, but it is a way out.
  6. yep, def sounds like reflux. Have ur band looked at by ur doc. Nyquil is not going to help ur cough since it is due to acid pushing up through ur esophagus. You should not it let it go on for long since acid damages the esophagus.
  7. actually i get this often. I have one bite, have a big problem, then once its gone, i can eat a lot. I just had a fill, I dont want another one. weird.
  8. I had a prescription from my doctor and carried on my liquids...but they were all protein shots, not shakes. the TSA guy had also had the lapband, so maybe i got lucky?
  9. P.S. How is the WII fit thing? i kinda want that cause it looks like fun.
  10. I'm with you! I was 347 lbs doing 120 min of cardio at the gym and taking jazzercise. I did it alone. I have a tough exterior, I wouldnt have gotten as far as I have in life without it. Just do your thing and screw everyone else. I'm still heavy, 280lbs, probably heavier than most of you and ppl come to me to ask how to weight lift or for company at the gym. The most important thing is to realize that you have to do what's best for you and not let others take you down. have fun at the gym!
  11. I get this pain all the time! Not asso w/ gas or overeating (thats when my port hurts). I have to raise my arm up to relieve some pain, but nothing gets rid of it. It especially comes when I'm angry or during a long drive. NEVER had it before. Sometimes it hurts so bad I want to cry.
  12. I went before the band....and it was sooooooo good. They also have chicken and lamb if that helps. I actually can get red meat down w/o problems, but i have loads of trouble with dry chicken or battered chicken! enjoy!
  13. OMG! that just happened to me, I thought i was going crazy. I am now a smaller band but went up to a DD!
  14. The people we have seen die from H1N1 have been mostly young people (young kids, 20's-40's). The shot is highly indicated if you are less than 5 years old or pregnant-these are the people we have been seeing getting sick the most. People older than 65 were exposed to the virus the last time it went around and have some immunity. Other reasons to get it have already been mentioned here-immunosupressed, health care worker, lung disease, super morbidly obese (these patients are especially at risk for bad outcomes, we are not entirely sure why yet, but may have to do w/ underlying cardiac problems or unknown pulmonary hypertension...not to mention the extra weight makes it harder to breathe) As always, use your best judgment and wash your hands!
  15. I feel ya! When this is all over, I think I will have big fake knockers put in! :tongue_smilie: I really don't know how to exist w/o big boobs...but thats just me:cool2:
  16. i reach restriction and then it goes away...its getting frustrating. I think i took my early weightloss for granted. now i am only losing maybe a pound a week, which is what is to be expected, but i miss the days of 3-4lbs a week. i can still eat a lot. ive only had 2 fills though. I missed one because i was away. i hope my next one is my sweet spot.
  17. probably means you ate too much or gas...i get that occasionally, mostly when ive drank too much then try to eat.
  18. umm, I flew 1 1/2 wk ago and was just fine. Although I didnt really eat immediately afterwards because i was tired and went to sleep. I drank water during to flight, so maybe I was well hydrated?
  19. ROFL! This is absolutely crap! I think this kind of misinformation contributes to the overall disease of obesity. People struggle for years and "work their a$$ off" w/o great success. Like some one said before, i want to see if she is a size 10 in 2 yrs. Most people will never loose more than 10-20lbs by diet/exercise...which as we all know doesn't help those of us who are morbidly or super morbidly obese. ugh...I'll stop now. I have real work to do since I don't have a DVD deal.
  20. I've lost about 40 lbs and have only seen a minor difference. It might be because at my heaviest I was in size denial and over filled my clothes? Other ppl really have not commented on it though :/ I guess time will tell. How is everyone else doing?
  21. OMG!!! Congrats!!! That is really all I can say, truly amazing!
  22. I had a 2 week liquid/mush diet requirement. I lost 20lbs easily before surgery. It's a tough way to go, but I paid cash for mine so I kept focused. Have you looked up post op diet etc etc? You should be preparing already. Best of luck.
  23. Hey girl! Whoa, sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time. There was a period of time when I was under A LOT of stress (test, moving, new city) that I would get a burning, gnawing midepigastric pain with nausea, but it passed once I wasnt stressed anymore. I still have problems PBing and vomiting w/ the first bite of my food, but it goes away and I can eat again. I havent really mastered the art of slow eating yet. The only thing I have to ask...have u been tested for food allergies? Is there something new to your diet or increased in your diet since the surgery? Also, you can also have a form of IBS if you cycle btwn days of constipation and days of diarrhea. I would cont adding stool softners regularly, but understand that they take some time to work. Also w/ these headaches and N/V episodes have you had your blood sugar checked? It is another possiblity. Just as an aside, is depo your choice BC because that will cause most women to gain weight...I think you are doing fine w/ weightloss and if you have been taking it for a long time w/o problems, then its prob ok.
  24. Girl, I always used to go out clubbing and bar hoping with friends...who are all size 0 and under it seems (no, this is not an over estimate)...in Dallas!(which is a very superficial city) A lot of times I used to feel huge next to them, but you get over it. Feel confident and dance your a$$ off and no one will care. Don't let size intimidate you. Have fun!
  25. Hahaha, tried that. I've gone as far as to say "lifestyle change, not a diet" *le sigh* I think people have been sooo bombarded w/ different "diet ideaologies" that we've all forgotten what it is to just live and eat civially.
