    Protein HELP!!

    The body can only absorb 20 gm of protein per meal, so have your protein spread out over multiple meals...maybe think about getting those protein shots or tasteless proteins to add to meals
  2. I just started the preop diet and I am feeling really low in energy and hungry. Any advice on how to keep going when you can't slow down? I am a medical student on a busy rotation, which means I stand and run around for more than 10 hours a day.I eat greater than 60 grams of Protein a day. I will be on vacation after surgery, but getting there is turning out to be harder than expected :confused: Surgery July 22.
  3. My preop diet is not so bad. A lot of Soups, shakes, cottage cheese, high Protein stuff, etc. When I have a day off and not doing as much, the diet is tolerable. However when Im working, I just feel so drained. I esentially eat Protein Bars between patients. You're right, maybe it will just take getting use to...the calories are significantly less than what I'm used to. staying strong...
  4. As someone who's traveled down this road, I wish I had done this younger. I think its fine as long as you understand the long commit this will be-this is forever. As a future physician, I've met may other docs who just do not get the battle with obesity, probably because they have never struggled with it themselves. I would make a list of all your diet and weight loss attempts and go over them with your PCP, old one or new one, so that they know you have put in a genuine effort with just diet and exercise.
