So what do we call ourselves when we reach the 200's?
MoxieDO posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
[i originally posted this elsewhere]:w00t: Hey, anyone make up a word for when we reach the 200's??? Like Twoterville or something (sorry, studying has dampened my creativity, it will be back shortly). I think it deserves a special name when you've been sitting in the 3's for a few years. (I had a brief show in the 290's last year, obviously that didnt last ). Ideas? -
umm, I flew 1 1/2 wk ago and was just fine. Although I didnt really eat immediately afterwards because i was tired and went to sleep. I drank water during to flight, so maybe I was well hydrated?

A gastric band is one of the most dangerous and painful operations you can have.
MoxieDO replied to elcee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
ROFL! This is absolutely crap! I think this kind of misinformation contributes to the overall disease of obesity. People struggle for years and "work their a$$ off" w/o great success. Like some one said before, i want to see if she is a size 10 in 2 yrs. Most people will never loose more than 10-20lbs by diet/exercise...which as we all know doesn't help those of us who are morbidly or super morbidly obese. ugh...I'll stop now. I have real work to do since I don't have a DVD deal. -
how long did it take you to start seeing dramatic weight loss
MoxieDO replied to punkster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've lost about 40 lbs and have only seen a minor difference. It might be because at my heaviest I was in size denial and over filled my clothes? Other ppl really have not commented on it though :/ I guess time will tell. How is everyone else doing? -
OMG!!! Congrats!!! That is really all I can say, truly amazing!
-
I had a 2 week liquid/mush diet requirement. I lost 20lbs easily before surgery. It's a tough way to go, but I paid cash for mine so I kept focused. Have you looked up post op diet etc etc? You should be preparing already. Best of luck.

Hey girl! Whoa, sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time. There was a period of time when I was under A LOT of stress (test, moving, new city) that I would get a burning, gnawing midepigastric pain with nausea, but it passed once I wasnt stressed anymore. I still have problems PBing and vomiting w/ the first bite of my food, but it goes away and I can eat again. I havent really mastered the art of slow eating yet. The only thing I have to ask...have u been tested for food allergies? Is there something new to your diet or increased in your diet since the surgery? Also, you can also have a form of IBS if you cycle btwn days of constipation and days of diarrhea. I would cont adding stool softners regularly, but understand that they take some time to work. Also w/ these headaches and N/V episodes have you had your blood sugar checked? It is another possiblity. Just as an aside, is depo your choice BC because that will cause most women to gain weight...I think you are doing fine w/ weightloss and if you have been taking it for a long time w/o problems, then its prob ok.

Girl, I always used to go out clubbing and bar hoping with friends...who are all size 0 and under it seems (no, this is not an over estimate)...in Dallas!(which is a very superficial city) A lot of times I used to feel huge next to them, but you get over it. Feel confident and dance your a$$ off and no one will care. Don't let size intimidate you. Have fun!

Every1's watchin what i eat & i hate it!
MoxieDO replied to MsFab1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hahaha, tried that. I've gone as far as to say "lifestyle change, not a diet" *le sigh* I think people have been sooo bombarded w/ different "diet ideaologies" that we've all forgotten what it is to just live and eat civially. -

MoxieDO replied to MsFab1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is why I have kept my surgery secret from most of the people I know! This is my study month, so luckily I've been a hermit from the people that know and have avoided eating activities w/ those that don't. However I do get calls asking "what did you eat today" or "how was eating today" or "what do you look like now"--Me: "um, I don't know, the same. My jeans are bigger?" It's very annoying, I can't imagine what it will be like having to do that in person. IT'S NOT A MAGIC CURE...I WILL NOT TRANSFORM INTO A SIZE 10 IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS! ahhh, feels better to write it out  -
hahaha, opps, see what happens when I dont read page 2.

I think mac and cheese is fine...I think I had it 2 wks post op. Make sure you overcook the pasta by boiling it extra long so that it is really soft and not so sticky. I would forget about the microwave kind.

This Freakin band is working
MoxieDO replied to fatgirlinNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was the way I was. I dropped weight the first two weeks after surgery, but then I stalled for about 3-4 weeks when I didnt have any restriction. Since my first fill, I have been dropping weight steadily. Hang in there! Loving my band! -

Help Thirsty all the time
MoxieDO replied to lapgal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just sip on water or water based drink all day. I doesnt make me full, because when I'm hungry I know it! But you're right, it has to be a SIP! A guzzle or a chug will get you in a bad place fast. I occasionally slip back into a chugging habit, but once I feel it, I know I have to stop for a while. It takes practice. Now if you can't keep anything down, that's a band problem that requires your doc. -
I'm addicted to Starbucks. No one can stop me!!!! (except my wallet) Now, I mostly do tea and iced coffee, but every once in a while (um, week) a frap will sneak up on me. If I dont finish it, I will add protein to it and have it later.

Celebrex is a different form of NSAID that acts on a specific COX pathway which makes it generally safer for the stomach. I have only dealt w/ Celebrex briefly, but aren't those pills big? Nevertheless, I would consult your lap band doc (more so than your PCP) about Celebrex and band use. The real relief for OA of your knees is going to be weightloss good luck!
