  1. Ivy! we were banded on the same day! Ive pretty much had the same things going on as you.

The gas pains in my shoulders were terrible but I walked a lot and my mom rubbed my shoulders and that helped a lot. When do you get to go on mushies? Im looking forward to that!

I saw you guys were going to puree steak....I dont know why but Im freaked about by the thought of pureed meat..... is it really not that bad and I need to get over it?

Hi McCall!! Yeaah we are BANDED!! The pureed meat thing I won't do for a while. I am allowed to go to full liquids but I am nervous. Have you started on full liquids yet? We have to keep in touch. 'm going to send a friend request.

  2. Man, today is 4 days post-op and I feel so bloated. I don't really have gas pain but feel really full and I feel like my stomach is puffy. I am moving around a lot and feel pretty good. Tomorrow I start full liquids, and I really need it because I am weak from the clear liquids stage. Take care all.

I'm glad to hear you are doing well. I remeber your profile because I was banded on 9/2. I start full liquids oday also. If you come across any "yummy" Soups PLEASE let me know. Trying to get in my head that "this is not a diet i's a way of life", so I am trying to find things that taste good. TTYL! Keep in Touch.

  3. I wanted to report that I am down 11 pounds in 5 days - 8 lbs on my clear liquid pre-op diet and 3 lbs since surgery 3 days ago. Totally excited!

Also - brand new and soon to be bandsters - before I forget, I have a few tips for you.

First, I just broke out my heating pad last night and it is awesome! Feels SO good on my tummy and helps with the gas pains. I think it would be good for the back, too, if you get your pains there. Good investment for the newly banded!

Second, in my search to find some smaller bowls and utensils, I learned that Crate and Barrel has the most adorable little bowls for our new tiny portions. Go to Crate and Barrel and search for "mini latte bowl." They are .95 cents each, and the perfect size for a serving of pudding or yogurt or whatever. 3.5" diameter - small! Bonus - kids love them, and perfect size for a small scoop of ice cream.

Along those same lines, CB2 has cute little forks and spoons for encouraging those small bites we need to take. They are called "mini stainless steel cocktail spoons" and are $5.95 for a set of 6. About the same size as a baby spoon or fork, but way cooler.

Totally different subject - you have heard it said before, but for me it is true - the Gas -X strips really help. Don't leave home without 'em.

Finally, a food tip for when you get to the liquid puree or mushy stage. Low-fat ricotta with Tomato or pizza sauce on top, heated up in the microwave, is delish. I had this for dinner tonight.

Hope this helps, good luck everyone!:sneaky:

Hi Coloradomom...I was banded on the 2nd. I have been using my heating pad was afraid to put it on my stomach just using it on my back. Does it really work? Also, are you having any pain around any of your incisions? Hope you are doing fine. We must keep in touch.

  4. Hey everyone! I'm scheduled for Sept 8th and I'm getting nervous! My 7 day pre-op diet starts on Sept 1st and I've been in the binge/eat everything i see mentality! Most of the threads I read, everyone is losing weight before their pre-op diets and I'm pretty sure mine is piling on, ugh feel like a slacker already! I'm also self pay so I haven't had to lose any for insurance purposes etc. I'm ready for my pre op to start so I'll be forced to stop eating! I'm so ready to get my band and get this weight off!

Just thought I'd introduce myself and looking forward to talking with you all!

Hi I'm scheduled for September 2nd. I am also self pay and it is so funny because it is like you were reading my mind. I wasn't forced to loose the weight for insurance purposes so I was eating everything in sight. I started my pre-op diet and it was a struggle firt but it is getting a little easier. Good luck! My pre-op appointment is Monday. I'll keep in touch!:)

  5. I am so tired of people trying to "steal my thunder" I hate it when people are negative about me getting the Lapband. Just today someone said, " people should just diet and excersize" UGH!!!! Of course this came from a skinny person whom has never had a weight problem!

Stay motivated and don't let negativity cloud your mind. I had a friend who basically said the same thing. To make long story short she said she didn't want me to get as thin as she is! People will be jealous but you know what your goal is! :)
