  1. I totaly agree! I was banded Aug. 14, 2009. Start weight 275 current weight 135 and have maintained for 1 yr. The band is a tool not the whole anchilada! You have to think about eveything you put in your mouth! Water is soooooooo important! Portions and calories do matter. If you eat your protien first veg. second you won't need to eat starches even whole wheat ones because you will be full and you will stay fuller longer. I have 2 relatives who had the surgey and have so far not been very successful because they have not got the mind set that they need to have. Your brain is 99% and the band is 1% of the total picture. Enough said. Good Luck Everyone!

  2. Don't get in a hurry! I had surgery Aug. 19, 2009. Start weight 275 current weight 135. Have gone from size 22 that was super tight to sizes 4/6. Try on everything. Your body is beginning to reshape and what you can fit into is soooooo different from what you're used to. I wasted so much money in the beginning, buying because it felt so good to be able to fit into REAL clothes. Take your time . I refuse to wear things that are to big. Buying new clothes will be a joy but have restraint. Good luck and God Bless.

  3. I can relate to getting food stuck. Do not eat your food to fast. Take a few minutes in between bites. Take very small bites and CHEW CHEW CHEW. I made the mistake of swallowing a bite of food just to answer a co-worker and oh my God I thought I was going to die it wouldn't go down or come up. I was stck for over an hour. Then I was swollen for several days so that may be what you are experiencing. Take some liquid Tylenol that will help.
