    Friday Bandits!!

Best of luck to all of you!!! Congratulations!!! :sneaky:
  4. Well, it's day 3 here for me on the pre-op diet. So far, everything seems like it's going well. I'm a little hungry in the afternoons but it's nothing that I won't be able to overcome. The only problem that I'm having is that as the day drags on, my brain seems to slow as well (lol).

  9. LL - just hang in there it will get better!! I too started my pre-op diet today. So far, I'm doing well but by the afternoon who knows. The first three days are the hardest, believe me, when I say it will get better. I was on Optifast for 9 months a few years ago and was allowed 5 shakes a day and after the 3rd day it was smooth sailing. I try to keep drinking my Water and that seems to keep me full. My diet consists of three shakes a day and a 400 calorie meal (lean meat, vegetables and a fruit). My nutritionist said that I could split the 400 calorie meal into 2 small meals and that's what I plan on doing. I'm here to support you and if you feel the need to chat, please send me a private message. Kim

  12. I have Blue Shield and from what I understand, I only have to pay my regular copayments. $15 - office visits $20 - psych eval $0 - outpatient surgery So far I've spent $80 out of pocket.

    Pre-op Diet?

My doctor requires a two-week liquid diet consisting of three protein shakes and a 400 calorie meal (lean meats, vegetables, fruit and additional protein like nuts). They want me to stay at 1000 calories per day.
  17. Congratulations and best of luck to you tomorrow!!! Keep us posted on your recovery and progress.
  18. Hi sandiegokate: Does the unflavored Isopure change the taste of the Crystal Lite drinks and how well does it dissolve? Would I need to blend it in my Magic Bullet or can I shake it and be able to drink it without clumps? Also, does it affect the smell of the drinks? Any information would be helpful since I have two weeks to do my tasting and research before my pre-op diet begins.

    August Bios

So now I don't feel so bad about the Roadside Lemonade. I thought that I was odd since everyone seems to rave about that flavor.

    August Bios

Well so far I've tried the Nectar Roadside Lemonade and Crystal Sky. They both reminded me of the Optifast vanilla shakes and it brought back bad memories so I had trouble drinking both. To me the lemonade was terrible and the crystal sky was tolerable. I'm thinking about purchasing the unflavored Isopure and adding it to my Crystal Lite drinks. If anyone has tried this, please let me know. Plus, I think that if I get the unflavored, I can add it to different Soups and get my protein in that way.

    August Bios

My name is Kim. I'm 44 years old, 5'1" tall and weigh 200 lbs. My surgery is scheduled for August 17th and I start my pre-op diet on August 3rd (pray for me). On August 12th I have to attend a mandatory pre-op class to get more information on what I should expect and also to give the vampires more blood. I'm so excited about this surgery. I've tried to lose weight for the past 10 years only to gain back what I've lost and then some. As for the pre-op liquid diet, I've looked into different Protein drinks and have just received a few samples of nectar protein and I will let you know which flavors I like. And if you have any suggestions on Protein Drinks, please let me know. Let's all keep in touch and post updates as we go through this transition in our lives.
  22. I'm also being banded on August 17th. Let's all keep in touch and keep each other posted. Three amigos!!!!
  23. August 17th here.:tongue_smilie: I start the pre-op diet on August 3rd:crying:. Let's all keep in touch and help each other get through the next few weeks and months to come. Kim

    Uggh

I also have a BMI of 37 and the only co-morbidity that I had was a slightly elevated blood pressure that was controlled with Water pills (hydrochlorothyazide). They did blood work on me and it showed that I was pre-diabetic and also had low amounts of the good cholesterol. When I initially went to see my personal physician (1st visit with her since it was new insurance) I also complained about knee pain. This information was sent to the insurance for approval for a referral to the surgeon and it was approved. Once I saw the surgeon, I met with their nutritionist (same office visit) and was told to get a pre-op physical with and ekg, bloodwork, chest x-ray, mammogram and a psych eval. Once everything was complete and the surgeons office had copies of the paperwork, a referral was sent to the insurance for approval for the lap band surgery. It only took 2 days for the approval and my surgery is scheduled for next month. So all I can say is see your doctor and give it a try.
  25. I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kim and I will be banded on August 17th. I can't believe that it only took 2 days for the approval since my BMI is 37 and the only co-morbidity is that I'm pre-diabetic, slight hypertension and acid reflux. I was sure that I would have to fight the insurance company and had to do a double take when I got the call today. If anyone has some tips for the liquid pre-op diet, please let me know.
