  1. You are healing well but don't take the ease of eating and drinking to over indulging. Be sure to measure your food and eat slowly. Pay attention to how long you stay full for. If its a while...your sleeve is working fine Remember...just because you CAN eat more, doesn't mean you SHOULD. You're doing great!
  2. I was sent home with pain pills and took my regular pills (capsules). Three months is MORE than enough time. Talk to your doctor. Congrats on an awesome weight loss!
  3. (((HUGS)))) Gas pain is horrific! If you don't have a heating pad, put some rice in a sock and microwave it. It holds the heat well. Keep moving around, I know it hurts but its the only way. Good Luck
  4. No vomit, no nausea. The 2 worst things to me were: 1--the barium swallow study after surgery, drinking clear brown, evil, disgusting liquid 2--the drain. My doc required it to be kept in for 10 days. The BEST: feeling great, looking great, getting healthy, walking into a store and buying clothes so quickly and easily, tons of compliments from friends, family, and co-workers. Being a cheap date...3 meals out of one meal out. The TEMPORARY pain and inconvenience were so worth it! I could go on forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. That is hardly a fail! Just a learning experience!!!! With the very few calories you are consuming, a little mousse won't make a difference. Now you know your triggers and you can avoid putting yourself in that situation in the future. I can NOT have oreos in the house. I have downed 3 or 4 (yes after surgery). My kids don't miss them and I sure don't either!!! Tomorrow is a fresh new day! Celebrate yourself and all you have accomplished
  6. Have them check your gall bladder. I have read many posts about pain in that area being the gall bladder. Symptoms of a leak are: Fever, rapid heartbeat, sever stomach pain, vomitinmg According to my surgeon, after 14 days you have a less than 1% chance of a leak. I had a VERY BAD experience NOT going to the hospital where my bariatric surgeon is based. I know you are in pain, but you have to make the trip. It's amazing how LITTLE regular ER doctors know about bariatrics!!! Good Luck and it will get better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. People do carry weight differently. I saw posts of someone who is 20lbs more than me wearing a size 6 and I wear a size 10!!!! Everyone's body is different. I COULDN'T STAND when people said I didn't look "big enough" to have surgery. Even a NURSE in the bariatric hospital said it to me. Keep your eyes on the prize and remember this is about getting healthy. Looking HOT is a great side effect! GOOD LUCK!
  8. What a difference...but I must say you have a beautiful face regardless
  9. HOW self-centered...going on about herself like that. You showed lots of class and handled yourself well. I would have not have handled it as well as you. BTW---I have lost 86 pounds in less than 7 months... so to hell with her!!!
  10. My doctor uses a size 40. I eat about 3/4 cup of food and have lost 86 pounds in less than 7 months. I don't have reflux and don't need to take anything.
  11. Breakfast-- 3/4 of Kashi cereal (honey almond flax) Snack:- cheese stick lunch: lunchmeal roll up. (3 or 4 slices of lunchmeat rolled with 1 slice cheese) Snack- 1/4 cup of dry roasted edamame Dinner- whatever family is eating (tonite was steak and corn)
  12. I don't eat regular pizza. When I order pizza I order a personal pizza and ask them to make it on a wheat wrap. You can also find TONS of recipes on www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com. She even calls it "pizza porn" LOL Good Luck.
  13. It's really up to you. I have a zero gravity chair that I used in the living room and I slept propped up in my bed. I was really uncomfortable for the first few days only. Plus, I didn't try to sit to long because the more you walk, the better you feel. Good Luck on this awesome journey. Nina
  14. I have been diagnosed with anxiety and I take anti-depressants...I had surgery and I have never been happier or healthier. find a new surgeon!
  15. My husband met me when I was 145 and loved me at 252. He never made me feel bad, pressured me, and was super supportive of everything I did to lose weight (including 2 surgeires). Our relationship has never been better since losing weight. It's not that he is more attracted to my thinner body...It's that I AM!! I feel attractive and good about myself (dare I say...sexy). It was a real problem that I weighed more than him (on my part). I love that I am about 30 pounds less than him now and I feel that if I did sit on his lap, I wouldn't squash him! LOL Relationship strong before and after surgery!
  16. I have the MIrena IUD and have had it during my lapband surgeries and my sleeve. Had no issues with weight gain. Dr told me since the hormones are released in the reproductive tract, it works differently. A previous post explained it well. I have 3 different doctors put the lapband in/take it out and do the sleeve. None of the 3 even mentioned removing the Mirena. That's over the top (in my opinion). I barely get my period and have zero cramps. I highly recommend it!
  17. Don't put your choices in the hand of others. Take time to pack your own lunch, that way you know exactly how much oil, salt, etc in is the food you are eating. If this makes a difference, you know it's the way the food is prepared. Every month I don't lose for days, or weeks then I lose a pound a day for a bunch of days. Once I got very close to goal, had to step up the workouts...Last 20 ARE the hardest.
  18. Congrats Anne.. You are not going to believe how much better your life will be. No more horrible band side effects. I am so happy with my decision to get the sleeve. I am 6 1/2 months out and 11 pounds from my goal weight. Just wait....it gets better EVERY day!
  19. It would bother me so much that I couldn't eat more, especially when eating out. I then learned to order more wisely at restaurants. I now am happy that I can get 2 or 3 meals out of one restaurant meal. I also had problems at home with watching my husband and kids eat so much more, then it just went away..... Just like everything in life...you just have to get used to it.. Good Luck.
  20. YOU CAN DO IT! Don't sabotage yourself! Throw out all the trigger foods and start journaling. That will help put your caloric intake into perspective. Maybe you should do that five day pouch test. It's a good way to clear your system of all the cravings from sweets/carbs. Google it and you will find specific directions. When I get the sweet cravings back, I always do a couple days absolutely no carbs. It's hard but it helps. When u want a sweet, chew some gum. It really helps. Good Luck Nina
  21. I remember reading about your complications. So HAPPY that you are feeling better and looking great!!!! Congrats!
  22. Isn't it a great feeling not to get stressed out every time someone wants to take a picture?????? So liberating. You do look awesome. Keep up the great work!
  23. What a transformation! Congratulations! You look beautiful!
  24. SO sorry to hear you are in again!! Keep a bottle of water in your hands at all times, when you don't have one..have a popscicle!! My doc said sleeve patients can dehydrate easily!
  25. I had the lap band and had a full slip. I had to have emergency surgery because it clamped off the bottom of my stomach and I couldn't even swallow my saliva.. It was an awful and upsetting experience. So much so that I "swore off" surgery. A year later, I gained the 50 pounds back, was miserable and found my amazing doctor from a friend who was revised from band to sleeve (same surgery). I can tell you this IT IS SO WORTH IT! I can't say as the previous post, that the surgery was a piece of cake....I found the recovery much more involved than with the band. First couple days were very rough.. But I would do it again in a heartbeat. I eat and live normally with no pain or vomiting! I just follow the rules and eat less LOVE MY SLEEVE!
