  1. I was at the mall and looked at SaladWorks and salivated!! I know the feeling. I am 23 days out on mushy foods. Other than a baked potato or sweet potato, I have had no veggies yet. I can't get them in after I eat my protein. One more week until I can start transitioning to solids and I can't wait. This has been the longest month of my life
  2. EGGs kill! LOL I don't know why they tell people to have them. I thought I was going to throw up. I did better with egg salad though. Around day 15 the pain stopped but I still get that bubble (I'm day 22 post op). Good luck.
  3. Oh thanks! I may try that click drink!
  4. I'm a teacher and I took 4 weeks. I'm 3 weeks today and feel totally fine
  5. I'm a teacher and I took 4 weeks off. I feel that was an acceptable time. I felt dine but needed time to adjust to eating again.
  6. I had dialaudid and it did help with the pain but made me loopy. I hated it. Would much rather had liquid Tylenol with coedine.
  7. I was told that you should START with a 1/4 cup then advance to a 1/2 cup. Remember your stomach is still inflamed. Eggs didn't sit well with me either. Now I am 20 days out and tolerating them fine. Don't focus on the quantity of food, focus on re-learning how to eat and paying attention to your new body signals.
  8. Thanks :0 ) I called my nurse and she said it's okay to have decaf and regular caffeine after 4 weeks but I am just going to drink the caffiene free from now on. Im going to pick up some sugar free fat free coffee mate today. What a treat )
  9. Your eating like a skinny girl now LOL Take a tiny bite, put your fork down and talk it will be so much fun Enjoy your first night out as the new you
  10. I had the same feelings and they are normal. Keep visualizing all the things you haven't been able to do with your son that you will be able to do. You are doing this out of love for yourself and your child. The most important thing you can do to help your recovery after the surgery is walk, walk, walk. You will probably have a rollercoaster of emotions the first week, so be sure you have help with your little one. Rememember, these feelings are temporary and you have the rest of your life to be happy and healthy. I will say some prayers for you....please keep us posted. REMEMBER TO THINK POSITIVE AND KEEP FOCUSED ON YOUR LONG TERM GOALS!! YOU WILL DO GREAT!!! I'm 19 days out and feel totally fine
  11. I agree but at this point I can't imagine being about to get that much food down! LOL What a change from before!! I can barely eat 1/4 cup of food!!!
  12. I cried all the way through my psych eval and I still got approved....LOL Don't worry about it!
  13. Hi Everyone, I'm 19 days post op and feeling great. No pain, no reflux, no gas problems. I am not a big coffee drinker, but especially on the weekends, I like to sip coffee and read the newspaper. When did you start to drink coffee??? I do have decaf in the house but I'm afraid of drinking it. Thanks, Nina
  14. I buy protein shots that are only 2.9 oz and have 25 GRAMS of protein in them. They are called Proasis and I buy them at Wegmans supermarket. They are a bit sour so I dilute them in sugar free decaf tea... Great way to get pack some protein in!!
  15. I also used the tapping along with the affirmations and it helps so much. I have also been in therapy for compulsive overeating and I can tell you this...the BIGGEST thing you did to show you love yourself is to have this surgery. Keep saying only positive and loving things about yourself and good luck!
  16. You will have a rollercoaster of emotions. Please keep your thoughts on the long term results. Yes, there will be some tough moments in the beginning, but after a couple weeks, you will be so much better!! I am 19 days out and feel totally fine!!!! Everytime you get nervous, just visualize something that you will be able to do, that your weight prevented you from doing before. That helped me soooo much. Good Luck and Congrats!!! PS--Walk as much as you can after surgery and ice your stomach...It helps so much!
  17. The stabbing pain will go away. The first 3 days are the worst. I am 19 days post op and feel about 95% back to normal. I slept proped up in a chair the first few nights, then propped up in my bed until I had the drain removed. If your doctor uses the drain, the stabbing pain will go away once it's out. You have stiitches on the inside and out and thats the pulling you feel. Ice REALLY REALLY helps. Good Luck!! My goal was to feel 50% better than the day before and so far that has been true!!
  18. You are clearly not a canditate for this surgery. This is a major surgery for the obese. You need to look into non-surgical options such as Weight Watchers. Good Luck
  19. My docor uses some type of glue or mesh than staples over it.
  20. My doctor told me that I could start walking on the treadmill 14 days post op and return to spinning (which I did before surgery) after 4 weeks.
  21. My doctor told me that after 10 days you have a less than 1% chance of a leak and after 14 you have a 0 percent chance. Be sure to ask your surgeon if they reinforce staples with with sutures, glue or mesh. Good Luck.
  22. Thanks!! I have no problem with the liquids. It's anything that has a thicker texture. I keep saying to myself that I have to reintroduce more foods to my new stomach so there may be some discomfort. My sister-in-law who had gastric bypass told me a good trick......she used a candle warmer to keep her plate warm because it takes so long to eat. 1/2 cup of cream of wheat takes about an hour and I can't finish it!! LOL
  23. Hi Everyone, I am day 15 post op. I have been very lucky. No problems up to this point. I started smooth consistence yesterday and it's been a real struggle. As soon as I take one tiny bit, i get a gas bubble in my stomach. So much so that I have to stop and walk around for a little bit. Can you let me know if this is normal and if it happened to you and most importantly......did you take anything and will it pass??? Thanks, Nina
  24. My doctor said Decaf Coffee can start Day 14 post op but sip to see if you tolerate it. Full caffiiene can start day 30.
