  1. I felt really great. I was up and about an hour after surgery. I felt totally fine, just a little sore from the gas. That went away in a few days. I did walk alot which totally helped. I took my pain medicine for a few days to help with the gas pain and it did. I would just be mellow and walk! It was a breeze!!
  2. Please tell me what I'm experiencing is "Bandster Hell?" I got my band two weeks ago and I feel great, like nothing ever changed. I can eat anything and don't feel that full after I eat. I lost 10lbs on the liquid diet for the first week after surgery now I've gained back 4!! Is this normal? Will it be like this after I get my first fill? I get my first fill on 9/27 thank god!! I appreciate your input!
  3. Good Luck and please keep is posted! I'm suprised the ER doc didn't take out any of your fill!
  4. My band isn't going to be filled for 4 weeks. You need to heal at this point. I'm sometime uncomfortable and have pains in my chest but everyday they get less and less. I feel better with everyday that goes by. Give yourself some time and don't make any rash decisions. It will get better!
  5. That would be really hard for me to go out to dinner. I'm on mushies now and it's soooo much better. Good luck with dinner, you're a stronger person then me!!
  6. I was banded on July 22, and I'm sooooooo hungry! How do you get past this first week of Clear liquids? I'm fine during the day, I get my Protein and drink lots of Water. The evenings are the worst! I got to bed at 9pm just to not think about food! I'm not in any pain and haven't taken any pain meds in a few days. I would say I'm 98% but I'm STARVING!! I'm going for my post op appt tomorrow and I'm going to ask if I can please start on soft food. Anybody else feel like this? (Not to mention, I'm a real bi*ch when I'm hungry and I have to apologize to my family every morning!)
  7. I'm one week post op and I went to Dr. Korman in Marina Del Rey, CA and he's great!! His staff is really knowledgeable and he's a very talented surgeon. I work in the medical industry in LA and I did a lot of asking around before I decided on a surgeon. I'm a cash pay, so I don't know if he has any special fees. Good Luck!
  8. I know it's painfull, but stick with it and take your pain medicine! DO NOT CHEW GUM!!!!!!!!! If you swallow it, it WILL get stuck! You don't want anything to get stuck right now while you're healing. The most important thing right now is to get your liquids in and heal. Good luck to you! In a few days you'll feel much better!

    Got banded this morning

Congrats! Good Luck! Today is the first day of the rest of your life!
  10. My gosh it's nice to see I'm not the only one!! Good luck everyone, WE CAN DO THIS! It's all in our heads!!
  11. I gained 5 pounds after surgery. Don't get dissapointed, it's totally normal. You retain water and swell during surgery. You'll soon start to see the results. You need to heal now and not worry about the scale, it'll come. I was a little freaked too but I know there is no way I can't lose, I'm only drinking my calories!! Good Luck!!
  12. Congrats and Good Luck!!
  13. Thanks Amanda! You're probably right, I'll look back and laugh!
  14. Thanks for all your input. I'm glad I'm not the only one! It makes me feel good to know other people are dealing with this too! I'm definitely getting enough Protein, I've been drinking a nectar chocolate protein drink a few times a day and I'm also drinking those New whey protein test tube things that have 42g! All these fluids DON'T fill me up. I really wish they did. I'm even making my protein drink with fat free milk. Like I mentioned before, I'm seeing my surgeon tomorrow and going to ask about starting the mushie food. If I can't my bedtime might have to be a little earlier! I'm in this for the long ride and nothing is going to stop me from getting to my goal! It's just a tough road to get there.

    a few questions.

I felt great a few hours after surgery. I was up and walking around and even went out for a walk that afternoon. It's really up to you and your surgeon. Also, I doubt you'll be able to have diet snapple. I'm six days post op and I've been on clear liquids for the whole time. This means Water, broth, sugerfree Jello, milk, and Protein powder mixed with water or milk. That's it. I wouldn't wear a sports bra. You'll probably want something a little loser.
  16. Thanks everyone! I had surgery 6 days ago and the pain has for the most part gone away. Sometimes I get shooting pains in my chest and I'm not sure what that is from, I'm thinking it's left over gas? I fell 100% better! And I got a new weightloss ticker now too!!
  17. What can I do for the horrible pain I'm having in my chest, neck, and side? Standing and walking is the only thing I found that kind of works. Laying down is the worst and I have to get some sleep. Any ideas would be appreciated!!
  18. Well, it's been four days since surgery and the pains have become way less painful!! i've been walking a lot and taking gas x strips and it seems to be working. I'm sooo excited! Thanks again for all your advice. It's nice to have somewhere to go where everyone else has/is experiencing the same thing I am!!
  19. I was banded on Wednesday and I'm on a clear liquid diet until next Wednesday. I'm sooooooo starving, I don't know what to do! Any ideas are welcomed!!
  20. Thanks for the advice Monkey. I know that I would only hurt myself if I cheated, I would never do that. My cousin just invited me to a bbq this weekend and I know I can't handle the temptation so I declined. I just made a protein shake with milk, I hope that takes some of the hunger pains away. I think I might try and go to bed early, that seems to be the only thing that takes my mind off of it.
  21. Congrats on the job. I would ask your surgeon if he can meet you on a Saturday or Sunday morning in his office for the full. I bet he would!
  22. If you've cheated on diets all your life then why have surgery if you're just going to cheat on it too? There is a reason why we're put on these post op diets!! You shouldn't have had the surgery if you weren't going to take it serious and change your lifestyle. If your lifestyle is cheating and you're not changing it, then why go under the knife? Lap Band isn't a quick fix, it's a tool!
  23. Can you go to a county hospital where they have to treat you? You can also walk into any ER and they have to see you, they are NOT allowed to turn anybody away.
  24. felkatz-I bought a bunch of different types of protein shakes at first so I could see what I like and don't like. I've been mixing them with water becuase I'm lactose intolerent. I just made a Nectar Brand, Chocolate flavored one this morning with Lactaid. It's really good and I can see it's filling me up. I think the trick is the milk. I wasn't full when I was making them with water. I get hungry in the afternoon! That's when I go for jello! I can't wait till I can have soft food next week!!
  25. The most important things you need to have are Water and protein! Even if you're not hungry sip water all day and you should have at least 60-80g of Protein a day. My nut and doc made this very clear! I would check on the pudding thing also. My diet for the first 10 days is water, Protein drinks, broth, milk, sugerfree Jello, and that's it! Evie- I was banded on Wed as well and I gained 3lbs since then. I asked my doctor and he said that is all the swelling that my belly is doing. I can tell my belly is swolen still. I'm hoping to see the weight fall off soon!
