  4. Hi Valeygirlvamp - to get started on the journey with Kaiser, your PCP has to refer you to the bariatrics department. Kaisers requrements are that you have a BMI of 40 or above. Be firm with your Doctor and tell him this is what you want and ask for the referral!

  5. Hi. Can you help me out in regards to the procedure of getting started with a Dr. with Kaiser? I tried to speak with my regular Dr. and he told me I didn't have a high enough BMI. I have been obese my whole life, and I am 280 lbs now. I just turned 40, and I really just want to live what's left of my life as healthy and actively as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hi. I am very new. I asked my doctor about the surgery, and he told me that I don't have a high enough BMI. I am 5'5 and I weigh about 280. Isn't that big enough? Can someone help me out on what to do or what procedure, where to start, anything?
