  1. Yesterday was beautiful, bright and sunny with a nice breeze. We, hubby, myself, my nephew Josh and his girlfriend Kristen all headed out to the opening weekend of the Crawfish Festival.

Now, I had a fill a few days ago so I am on liquids and couldn't partake in the yummies that everyone else did. However, I did suck on a piece of grilled Chicken. Yumm!

We really enjoyed the festivities - we even talked Kristen into riding a mechanical bull - she did really well. We all got a bit sunburned - of course me more than all else - must be some of my German blood coming out.

I was sure hoping I would lose quite a bit on liquids - but once again, my body just holds onto those damn liquids. Oh well. I am on soft foods now, so hopefully I will lose more this week. I am still loving my BodyBugg and actually enjoying counting calories and watching my progress.

  2. Okay, I had a fill yesterday, so I was on liquids all day yesterday, today and for the next 2 days. I am so hungry I can't think straight. It has to be my head - I have had like 800 calories with Slim Fasts, strained soups, milk, etc. So, I know I am not starving.

I was reading some of the forums and could hear a commercial on the TV and thought wow, that sounds so good . . . fresh Tuna, whitefish, herbs - it was a damn Cat Food Commercial. Ugh! My head isn't functioning right.

Of course tomorrow is the first day of the Crawfish Festival, so we are all going out for the day - talk about a food fest and I won't be taking part in any of it. Maybe I could lick the spices off! Sigh, just a few more days - it has never been this hard. Damn my head!

  3. My fear is needles - so the idea of 2 shots instead of one, isn't an option! I am a Needle Chicken! My Dr. ONLY hires people that he has banded - so we will see, it will be months down the road, but I really think it would be inspiring to work there!

  4. Well, I went in today and had my 3rd fill. I was at 2 and he put in .6 or maybe .4, I can't really remember. It didn't hurt as bad - he didn't have to press down as hard to reach my port. He says he can tell I am losing weight! WooHOO!

His office is expanding, and coming to The Woodlands (which is right by me). I am so excited. Apparently, they are hiring additional Dr.s too. He is so busy. I sent in my resume for his new office near me. It won't be up and running for about 4 months. I, of course, only want to work part-time, I want to keep my part time work at home job too.

So, on with the liquids. I hate liquids. Oh well, just a few more days.

  5. Well, I did it, I drove over an hour each way so that I could attend one of the support groups at my Dr.s office. It wasn't bad. Dr. Spiegel was there answering questions - but all of the questions were things that you can learn here on lapbandtalk. I was one of the newer people with the band and I really felt like I could answer all of their questions.

I think I will try his support group at University General - they have guest speakers and cool topics. I really want to learn something new.

  6. I only made the 200% by a couple of lbs and TOTALLY pigged out before hand - don't forget, if you get close, you can add weights under your pants.

LOL, about the underwear - I can tell it is all fitting so much looser.

The scale I just got is a Salter Nutritional Scale - it actually has the capability of telling you serving size and nutrients of LOTS of items. It comes with a book and lots of codes, so you punch in the code for apple, put it on the scale and it will tell you how many calories, fiber, etc. . . I didn't need all that, but couldn't find a simple digital scale and my regular scale was awesome, but I couldn't tell how many grams (exactly) so I upgraded.

  7. Things are going great, I got my BodyBugg Last week and lost 2 lbs! It really helps me to be able to see what is happening with my body. I have my second and last coaching session tomorrow - hopefully I will learn all that I need to for my new Bugg.

I have another fill this Thursday and I am really looking forward to that. I really think I am getting close to real restriction. As of this morning, I have lost 18lbs and couldn't be happier. I just really can't believe it. I am eating healthier than I have ever eaten.

Oh, I went and got a digital scale - I found it at Ross or TJ MAXX (can't remember), and I only paid $19.00 for it. I would suggest everyone get a good scale. After my first coaching session, my Coach said that I need to weigh everything, because most labels are wrong - to be truthful, I didn't believe her, but I weighed a couple things anyway.

BOY HOWDY was she right. 1 slice of bread weighed twice what it was supposed to! That really sucks! Most of my 100 calorie packs weigh UNDER what they are supposed to - I won't buy them anymore. I feel totally ripped off. I am going to buy the bigger bags and weigh them out myself.

  8. Yes, my Dr.s says ice tea is fine. Believe it or not, not drinking with my meal is the hardest for me. I feel so thirsty. I think it is because I KNOW I can't have it, but still, I am really wanting a swig of something when I eat. I think it will get better - uhm, I hope it will get better. :-)

  9. I eat carbs - and probably a normal amount of them. I just eat protein first and then eat whatever else I want after that. I agree, you would probably loose more weight if you cut them out, but, like you, if I could live without them, I wouldn't have had to had surgery! Now, the carbonated drinks. My Dr. says no too, then he tells you, if you have to have one, pour it over ice and let it sit for a few minutes. It isn't good for your pouch, but I guess it isn't going to destroy it either. However, I haven't missed my cokes at all (yet)

  10. He is medically retired. Long story short - he got hurt, they did surgery on his back and made it worse, they did a Spinal Fusion and cut a nerve that caused a permanent rare nerve disease in his foot - and the fusion failed. Then, come to find out he has MS. So they got rid of him pretty fast. I fought for total retirement and won. He is 100% through the Air Force and 90% through the VA. He was too sick to speak for himself at the time.

If you haven't noticed, I am a bit of a fighter - I NEVER take no for an answer. They tried to just refuse to let him re-enlist and told us to go to the VA for benefits. 10 minutes later, after I spoke with IG, we had a medical board scheduled. Once he was out, I spent 2 weeks in San Antonio at the National Review Board getting his status changed to total and permanent. It was worth the fight.

I am an Army Bratt and AirForce Wife :-) All my nephews and such are enlisted as well - seems I always have a loved one overseas somewhere.

  11. I think that would be awesome - talk about a motivator! I do understand wanting him to be here during it too, for help and motivation - but if he can't be - you could buy yourself a really hot "pick him up from port outfit" that is 2 sizes too small and work towards getting into it.

I actually lost TONS of weight during 9-11, my hubby was in Egypt and we had lost all sat phones I only heard from him every few weeks. I lived on base and we were at Delta - it took 2-3 hours to get onto base if you left. I lived off of 2 SlimFasts and 1 LeanCusine every day. I walked my dog at least 3 hours a day. I was so stressed out, but boy did the weight come off. Of course, it came back and brought some friends with it lol, but once you are banded, you won't have to worry about that!

  12. That is my BodyBugg - I have only had it for less than a week, but I am in LOVE! It calculates how many calories you burn by all sorts of sensors. You wear it all the time, then it wirelessly synchs to your pc and tells you all sorts of stuff. Like how many calories per minute you burn, how much more you need to burn to keep loosing 2 lbs a week, etc. I FREAKIN LOVE IT! lol. I wish I could work for the company - I bet I could sale them - I love them that much. Here is the website for them if you want to look into them.

Okay, it gave me an X and said to be moderated when I put the website on here. If you google bodybugg, it will come up.

  13. Thank You! That is just about the nicest comment ever. I love my BodyBugg - I wish I could sale them - I think I could do it, they are so motivating! I REALLY want to keep some boobs lol, I have always had big boobs - and NEVER had a flat tummy. Although, I would settle for just a flat tummy!

  14. You will have to have someone go with you - they made my husband sign all the paperwork and everything. Where are you going to be? If you don't have anyone - family or such, you can get someone from a local lapband support group to go with you. You really just need someone to drive you home. I actually sent my hubby home while I was there - I didn't need any help and I knew he needed some sleep. You will be able to drive the next day, but they won't let you drive FROM the hospital (they would be liable if you had a wreck).

  15. Hey girl. I understand your fears, I too have never had a baby and don't like Dr.s. I am not sure how old you are, I am 32. I have detailed almost every detail in my Blog. Even the fills. Here is my blog - if you want more details on something, let me know and i will see what I can remember. (its been 2 months) and God has a way of making us forget the un-pleasantries.

  16. You wear it under your clothes. Usually my short sleeve shirts cover it, but heck, I am so proud of it, I don't care who sees it!

I got mine off of Cragslist - for 240 - you might have been talking to me - it has been a crazy week, so I can't remember who all I have talked to.

I wear mine all the time. After the first day, you don't even feel it there. I have even slept in mine for the last 2 nights.

I hope you can find one half price, I will keep my eyes open for you!
