1. How many of you are still using PPI"s (Rx for GERD) I can't seem to get off them. Even had to up to 2 a day!
2. mini-me congrats on your adoption! I am so glad I logged back on here. I have the creep back. Too many carbs! logging on to sparks people. Got up to use treadmill, it broke! thought I had it fixed. Could walk but it is too dark out. ( had a few murders around here-very rare so I am still cautious) Could have used weights but I started dinking around on the computer. Updated sparks and logging in my day. Plan what to eat and eat what I plan. I am so glad for this sleeve. will check in. How are you? I know you got to goal. I need to get back under 127, that is where I feel best.
3. I am starting to slowwly gain. lowest was 126 now up around 135 I am so scared I will get fat again. Have one pair of jeans that fit (I didn't keep any fat clothes!) Started loggin in my food. Just can't seem to exercise enough I pushed myself too hard and hurt my knee. Night time is the hardest. Carb out. So I am logging in here to get some support. Going to bed. Miss this support.
4. So timely for me!! I have managed to gain 10 lbs back. And I just can't seem to get rid of it. Once again you are an inspiration to me! Back to the basics! will log in more often and remember I got most of my stomach out for a reason!!!! NO 20 lbs for me!!!! Dee
5. HELP. I am at goal holding steady for about 6 month. I am having a hard time getting my Protein in. I really can't stomach any :puke: (I am pretty sure I have tried them all!!!-today i am going to buy some instant Breakfast as a last ditch effort) protein drinks/powder. Same with Protein Bars. I have hit a wall. Sugestions? :help: Dee
6. I would want it fixed. I developed one after surg. Via a trip to ED thought something was stuck it continues causing me problems:crying:, can't eat enough and have acid reflux. I am going to have mine repaired. Dr. Aceves said he would fix it. (not sure if there is a cost involved?) I see my PCP and will ask her.
7. DR. Jossart, Do you have time to answer my question/concern? Thank you, Dee
8. I am @ goal (I was a low BMI) lost a total of 35 lbs with the sleeve 165-130 (a little under). My highest was 200+ before I got the lap band (hated it!!) I have given away all my various clothes sizes 16 tight to size 8. Now a comfy 6. I fell great!!!. Haven't exercised at all (I had foot surgery-again) maybe soon when I get clearance from my surgeon. I have lifted weights a few times. Been wearing sleeveless tops, was always very self conscience about my fat arms. For the very FIRST time I really feel like this is my body not just a stop down on the way back up. I have been on every diet on the planet. Got to 130 a few times but alas never stayed long. I did develop a hiatal hernia post op. Sent me to the ER ( I NEVER go there!) Dr. Aceves says he will fix it but it seems to be doing OK they called it a sliding hiatal hernia, maybe it slid back down?! Taking my vits etc and getting protein, Gonna try to get off the PPI @ 6 months. I changed from Nexium to Prilosec, didn't think the Nexium was working so good, felt like I had heartburn (don't really know because I never had it before?) Whatever it was it is gone now with the Prilosec. Sounds like everyone else is doing great. Hard to believe it has been over 4 month since we were sleeved. Nice to check in with fellow Marchers! Dee
9. I just wanted to share it has been 4 1/2 months since I had my band removed and I am at my goal. The band was a nightmare for me the multiple fills (which I had to pay for since I had my band done in Mx) food getting stuck, being afraid to eat, puking, sliming and knowing I had a foreign body in me with the port showing like a tumor! Strong advice: if you are getting a revision I would advise you choose a surgeon who has experience in revisions-it is not the same as a new sleeve, there is scar tissue involved making the surgery more challenging-this is not "routine surgery". I followed Dr Aceves post-surgery diet but modified it with the Cornell post-sleeve diet. My hunger is very much under control, I don't log in or count any calories. I am a professional dieter I KNOW what is in what! I eat enough protein (I still drink protein drinks but I did that before I got the band) I didn't/don't obsess about the scale didn't weight myself every day, weekly at best. Gauged how I was doing by how my clothes fit. Had a "collection size 16 to size 6". I got to goal a few years ago using sparkspeople, but like usual (got to goal w/weight watchers, TOPS, Atkins...) I gained the weight back. That is why I got the band to put an end to the obsession w/food. The band didn't do that for me but the sleeve so far has done that for me. Finally wearing my size 6 comfortably. People have noticed how "skinny" I am. I eat for nutrition, there is little room for much else! I have given my sizes 16 to 8 away, I have never done that before. Size 8 was the hardest to let go of. I would not have done the revision without this board. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you:001_wub: Dee
10. Dr. Jossart,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I had a VSG 3/16/10, revision from band. I have since developed a hiatal hernia (discovered after a trip to the ED) Can it be repaired? I know the normal procedure a Nissen Fundoplication would be hard to do with what little stomach I have left. My main concern is developing Barrett's esophagus. I also am concerned with taking PPI's for an extended time frame. Is there a repair procedure? Thank you for your time, Dee
11. The "real" shoes are MBT's they have been around for quite a while(they cost $200-250) Sketchers doesn't have the same technology but it is most likely pretty close? (I tried the Sketchers and they come no where close to my MBT's) Dee
12. I have developed a hiatal hernia, thought I had some food stuck was pretty scared. Went to the Ed after the most awful tests was Dx w/a hiatal hernia. I did not have this prior to my revision. Has this happened to anyone else? I am going to send an e-mail to Dr. Aceves. Going to see my PCP when I can get an apppointment. Just what I need another surgery!:thumbup1: Dee
13. I have lost a total of 30 lbs since the sleeve. I was a low BMI when I was banded. (highest weight was 200 banded @ 175) My original time to goal was 4th of July. I have not logged in my food (might not work for everyone) I got the band because I was sick of dieting. I really have the sense that I am DONE with diets. I can see how maybe (I NEVER thought I would say this!!) I might lose too much weight. I am not hungry so I have to remember to eat. I have been diligent in taking my prilosec. Per Dr. Aceves I should only need it for 6 months. Hope you are doing well with your new sleeve. Wasn't Dr. Aceves and staff wonderful! I had a hard time after surgery (profound nausea) and they were caring and compassionate. Keep us posted. love your screen name I can soooo relate!!! Dee
14. I haven't posted in a while but lurk almost every day. My hunger is gone! It took a while. I bought new M&M pretzels yesterday had a few then didn't want any more so I threw them away.(So unlike me!) I can pretty much eat what I want. (Haven't had salad, crunchy fruits and veggies yet-following the Cornell post-op diet)I have even been eating fish (I would have told you before the sleeve I hate fish!) I got the panko cod and breaded halibut from costco. I eat the "guts". It totally fills me up. This board has really helped me ALOT! I am almost to goal 5 more lbs. I feel great. That band was so bad for me. I was unable to eat real food. Can take petite Calcium citrate pills (The chew kind-I think I tried them all- were awful!!).Keeping up with Biotin and zinc (crossing my fingers my hair doesn't fall out-will keep you posted) After my gummi vits are gone going to go back to my Centrum silvers. Was also taking fish oil (one a day from costco-but not ready to swallow such a big pill-anyone else take them?) Making a follow-up with my PCP soon to get my vit D checked again (I had a deficiency and took two rounds of high dose Rx) Wavering on the upper GI. I will see what my PCP says. Thank you all who post on this board. I would not have done the revision without it! Dee
15. Soo glad I read this..been really struggling with wanting to overeat (old habits die hard!) yesterday I managed to eat way too much. I just wanted more and more....Need to refocus..the fact is I am an overeater....After reading I could develop a leak 4 months out YIKES....Thank you Tiff for posting this!! I have thrown up twice once after eating tuna fish (sooooo gross...) Back to basics Protein first (been carb eating comfort) Love this sleeve, without this forum I would be lost! Dee
16. I am 5 weeks out and just started eating "solid" food. I thought just like you! but now I know that I cannot eat very much of a solid food. For breakfast I made eggs with pieces of low fat sausage I was not able to eat it all only about 1/2 (which would be one egg one sausage link)Lunch I had chicken I got at Trader Joes It is BBQ white meat (not very much sauce-just shredded chicken)I could eat less than 1/4 cup. Last night I had panko cod and was only able to eat 1 1/2 small filets (I got them @ costco) Really trying to eat fish. This was my first "3 meal day" so don't worry!!! I am loving this sleeve!!!!!! When are you able to eat solids? I think once you do you will be pleasantly surprised! let us know... Dee
17. I didn't know we could have our 3 month upper GI and blood work done by Dr. Aceves? How much do they charge. This is the first I have heard of this? How many others have done this? Dee
18. Lynda, Right behind you. You are doing fabulous. Congrats on your success. :party4: Dee

One month today. Down 21 lbs. Hard to believe. Even w/ the lap band I didn't get this close to goal. One month thoughts: It was rough the first two days post-op I am glad I chose to stay in the Hospital vice go to a recovery house. I get too sick after anesthesia. Glad to have the 24/7 care. Money well spent. Clear liquids got old fast, Jello made w/Isopure 40mg bottles saved me w/my protein intake. Full liquids sugar-free pudding made w/injury protein got me thru the full. I found out I didn't like most of the samples I ordered. Ended up ordering a jug-o-Syntha-6 Chocolate peanut butter. (it will be nice when I can blend a banana it.) Injury protien was the only other one I could stand (Even my 30 mg from Costco I don't like so much anymore-been heating them up @ work seems to make them more doable) Bought a "bullet" LOVE IT!!! Taking the blender out each time I make a protein shake is PIA. Blending it in the bullet makes it taste so much better than just shaking it in a bottle. I put the empty cup in the dishwasher. Tried to eat some Egg Foo Young. Was like a rock in my stomach. Felt like it was never going to leave! Didn't feel nauseous just very uncomfortable. (Flashbacks of the lap band nausea then the vomiting so glad I got that thing out of my body!!!!) Now I am scared to move off of soft/mushies. In case you are reading this and wonder is it worth it. He** YES!!!! I would not have been able to do it w/o this board. I know there has been some controversy lately. Don't let that deter you from getting help and encouragement here. Dee
20. One Month Today. I CANNOT believe I lost 21 lbs!! I am close to goal, this is my lowest weight even w/ the lapband. Thought I would lose slower. Other 1 month what food stage are you on? I am still doing mushies I am scared to move one HELP!! Dee
21. Well I changed my name. As I am no longer STUCK I thought I'd change to my nick-name Dee. I am so..... grateful for this sleeve. I really grew to hate the band I resented that I couldn't eat healthy. Now I feel so much better. This board gave me the encouragement to get the sleeve. THANK YOU!!! Dee. (The new me)
22. How much weight have you lost? Why don't you divide my 5 and then divide by the weeks and see what it average out as. Look at the bright side. If you didn't have the sleeve I am sure you are like most of us you would have gained it back and then some. So you ARE doing good. Just "reframe it" ONWARD... Dee
23. Call your MD about your cough. I also had one also after my surgery (mostly at night). It can be a sign of acid reflux. You might need to up your Nexium (or other acid reducer) or start one. I increased my Nexium from 20 mg to 40 mg and the cough is gone. Dee
24. Mini, Con-grats!!!! How exciting. I too went down one size. I hauled them out of the attic. Seems unreal doesn't it??? Hope your are saving $$$ so when you get to goal you can go shopping!!! I know I am! Thank you for giving me hope and encouragement..... (I think I need to change my name as I am not Stuck any more..so glad to get the band out of me) Dee
