    What's wrong with me??

Hi Angie, I think you are eating too many carbs......try more fruits and veggies (just beware of carrots...they are extremely high in sugar. You should be more into the protein anyway because its around the time that you might be experiencing hair loss. (21 lbs is still a good weight loss---better lost than found right??) Best wishes!

    Mad as HE!!!!!!!!

OMG Gracie, you must be my sister!!! I think we have the same mom!! I said the same thing to my mom, cause you know we want to prove our success by showing not by talking about what we are gonna do to get there....i can so relate! In the past my mom has told things to relatives, but on this topic I have been lucky enough that she hasn't. But yup she would say she wouldn't tell and then whammy first thing to come out of her mouth was what i asked to be kept private. Think about how good success is gonna feel!!!

    Process stage one

Okay so first I get the bloodwork done locally (it was faster). Then came the nutritionist, then the psych eval....lol I am a psych major--I interviewed myself several times already.....didn't they know that???....LOL:lalala: on the 30th of May I had all the other fun stuff done...xrays, ultrasounds...drinking that puky stuff so they could xray me again:spit: . Next stop....pulmonary specialist to make sure I do not have sleep apnea :sleep . Omg Nurse-zilla and her faithful followers work in the NJ office!!! What a twit, I try to arrange the test after the doc swore to me that he would speed me thru and get me a bed in the next day or two......yeah they gave me an appt 5 weeks later!!!!!!! Then i called around to get a better deal...same sleep center company just a different location and one I knew for sure was covered by my insurance---and Nurse-zilla had a fit. Hello-----its my right as a patient to make sure I am getting the best medical attention I can!!!!!! :heh: Ugh I was sooo mad...she had the nerve to tell me that getting an appt quicker would not get my surgery quicker...omg did she even hear what she was saying??? My surgeon told me the faster the test, the quicker i get my surgery date!!!! But no, I was nice to Nurse-zilla because I figured she had something I needed----I will bitch slap her later!!!!:devious So after a week of "convincing" her i get my appt....I did the sleep apnea test :notagree on July 2nd. This Tuesday, I get the results from the doc. (If I am lucky -nurse-zilla will be on vacation). Getting so excited now.

    The Decision

Okay so as previously stated, I decided in April (2006) to do something about it (the dreaded pounds). I called my sister and asked her about her surgeon. She told me how to look him up online. I did:paranoid . I found his webinar. I tried to register online but they were having problems so I called him. I decided to at least go see the doc and see what he had to say :paranoid. Oh did I mention that I watched that webinar four times!!!:behindsofa: ?? Yeah I wanted to know exactly what I was getting into . I decided on lapband surgery, it seems safer...just better all around. Plus recovery time is faster which is for me as I cannot miss too much school! And the weight loss is slower which is great for me also because I cannot afford to have surgery to remove excess skin  . I called my husbands insurance to see if the doc and the procedure was covered...OMG it is:clap2: !!!! My first appt was April 24th...:Dancing_biggrin: I was so excited! The doc said I was the perfect candidate...not too too heavy, no co-morbidities, and my age. so excited!! Gotta do the tests...no problem I'd do what ever they wanted to get this done. (the doc was impressed that I watched his webinar 4 times...lol)

    The History

One Day in April (2006) I decided that this weight gain has gone too far. I hated feeling "sick" all the time. I def do not feel my age, and didn't want to look older than my age. My sister had gastric bypass surgery done 4 years ago. I was a huge supporter of this as I do not want to see her die young (she is younger than me).:faint: At the time I was no where near the weight you have to be to have WLS. Last year I went to Europe with my oldest daughter for two weeks...we literally "walked" europe. I came home 17 lbs lighter:D , I vowed the weight would not come back. I lied. :phanvan It not only came back, it brought 30 of it's friends with it......ugh:cry . Oh I didn't mention that I am not a big snack-attacker....I am a full-time student whose husband cooks like a gourmet and I am at his mercy at dinnertime:hungry: . I also have three kids, three dogs, two cats....busy house.

fun thread: help me name my tumor

OMG you are too funny. My sis and I did that to our mom when she got her fibriod removed from her uterus. Ugh, what did we name it i can't remember...gonna have to give sis a call. We were gonna give mom balloons that said "its a girl" on them. Mom thought we were nuts, we were just trying to make her laugh...it worked!
  14. Yikes, feel better soon!
  15. Thanks for the link Stitchy!!!! It was very helpful. I too love to Cross Stitch............total stress reliever!!!

    Fun Thread - Screen Names

Okay my first name is too boring (and common) so I am using my middle name Bettina. (i was born in europe) I usually use something more interesting like Peridotcharmed (birthstone). Ha Ha...... but far more interesting is my stripper name: Puss Zwickle (rhymes with pickle)...ha ha we will all look so good ....we can start a lap band stripper club...plus hubby informed me that pole dancing is good exercise....yeah good luck with that I said!!!!!!

NSV!! I fit in the chair!

OMG Kim....that is awesome. Good thing someone was sitting in your chair!! Otherwise you would not have known about the new fit! (I can't wait till I can enter posts like yours!!)
  18. Okay dumb question time.......what does PB stand for?? My sister called it "dumping" but I always thought that was from you "other" end...lol
  19. Hi Kim, I thought the same thing as you --feeling like a failure for not sticking to dieting or exercise. And then it hit me.......I still will have to do that.....this is just a "diet aid".......on my own...I'd be taking diet pills which in the long run would do more damage than good. (I have suffered the ill effects of diet pills already)...so the bad is my substitute for the diet pill! My husband just dropped 22 lbs like it was nothing. I know how you feel. But we are all different and yay for our husbands but it doesn't work for us...and we deserve to be healthy and live a long and happy life...so if what banding is what we need, so be it!! http://www.or-live.com/AtlantiCare/weightloss/skin/rnh.cfm?language=english this link is my surgeons webinar it is great I watched it four times!!! I haven't been banded yet, but find out tuesday roughly when i am scheduled. Best Wishes!!!

    Ni I'm a newbie

    Ni I'm a newbie

Hi Liz, I too am a newbie to this. I watched the seminar on my laptop...lol...4 times!!! My sis had gastric bypass...which is not my thing, so I am vaguely familiar with how it goes. Banding is more my speed. Not to mention, the weight loss is longer -which is better for me. I too have three kids, daughter will be 19 in Oct, son will be 17 in Aug, and little daughter is 9..they are very supportive. Hubby is a little scared I think...funny he isn't the one going under the knife...lol. i can't wait for this to be over I am so excited! I go to the doc on tuesday to get my sleep apnea results, if no apnea, I can schedule the surgery right away, if I do have apnea, i have to get fitted and wear the cpac for 2 weeks prior to surgery. Other than that, I have had all my tests done and my general practicioner has given her blessing. I have been working on it since May and finally its near the time to schedule the surgery. I can't wait to feel good again and get back to the old me!!
