My DH keeps laughing at me that I even care about the scars. Given that most my mid section is totally covered with a million stretch marks, whats a couple little scars thrown in there. I guess I wished they were lower so if I get a TT they would be even lower or gone all together.

I love fitday. It helps me keep everything in line, in particular this first post op week I was trying to keep my eye on eating enough calories. Most days I'm close to 400, but yesterday I wasn't even at 300. Have fun with it. BTW, any other fitday users out there? I only use the free online version, but was curious if anyone bought the downloadable version and how they are different. Thanks!

Can't "stomach" protein drinks any longer

My recommendation is unflavored Protein you mix in whatever you want. I have used beneprotein and unjury. Both are very good, pretty much the same. These are fat free, carb free protein sources. I mix them with crystal light and cant tell the difference. I also put them in SF pudding, mix them with juice, etc. Good luck.

I'm so excited for mushies I don't even know where to start. I have been having Soup (broth only) 2x/ day....and I am sooo sick of soup. I'm hitting the grocery store tonight. I'm thinking mushy scrambled egg might taste real good for Breakfast tomorrow.

My port is also just below my ribs, but on the right side. My lump last Wed/ Thurs was like 1/2 a grapefruit sticking up. now it's long horozontally, about the size of a fat pickle from the deli. Hmmm... why do you think I keep comparing everything to food??? LOL

I just got back from my post-op appt. They took off the steri-stips and my scars look really good. I go back in 7 weeks for my first fill (if needed). He cleared me to go back on BC pills next week, and said I can go ahead and start mushies now. I do still have a funny lump above my port incision. It does continue to shrink, and he was not concerned. He did tell me to wait 2 weeks before using mederma on my scars.

It is probaby due to swelling. Some people do seem to have good restriction without fills. You might be one of those lucky people!

The unflavored is truly unflavored. I mix with crystal light and can't tell the difference. I bought a bunch of individual packets on www.unjury.com to try. The chocolate is good. I have tried it with milk, and also once added banana to it (yum). The vanilla is good with milk and frozen strawberries. Kind of too strong of a vanilla flavor for me to drink straight, but the strawberries blended nicely. The strawberry sorbet was good mixed with water and ice. I want to try it with milk but havent yet. My new love that I tried this morning is syntrax nectar lattes. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I love mocha flavored things. I mixed my sample pack with milk and some crushed ice and it was delicious. I think anyone who loves frappuccinos would love this.

I bought mine at GNC. They have 6 or more flavors, and usually have some in a refrigerator case in addition to on the shelf. They are about 3.50 -$4.00/bottle. I also have been using a lot of the unjury products, available only online or in McLean, VA. They have a strawberry Sorbet that mixes with Water that was delicious. I use their unflavored (or beneprotein unflavored) to mix with juice and fruit. This has been great for me to alternate with milk based drinks.

:yield: :yield: :yield: Well, thats what I get for going to bed early last night :notagree . We are all new bandsters, or soon to be new. We all choose our surgeons for our own reasons and are trusting our bodies (and lives) to them and have faith in their programs. I find it interesting how different the programs all are. I only had to do 2 days of liquid diet, and was able to be on full liquids the first day home from the hospital. I start mushies 1 week post op :hungry: . I don't think anyone is saying another surgeon is wrong...just different. I read on another thread that someone in Europe didn't have any liquid phase following their banding. I'm going to follow my surgeon's program, because that is what I signed up for. Fortunately for him, I have this board, so I'm not calling him every 5 minutes with questions. But when I mentioned on this board that I had a grapefruit sized lump above my port incision, and nobody else had anything like that, I knew I needed to call the Dr. I laughed so hard at all the drama on the main board last month. I couldn't believe how crazy they were getting. I don't want to see things escalate here. We just have to remember we are following our own programs. Bettina, I truly have appreciated all your input. It has reminded me to double check labels to verify carb counts, etc. I was convinced on another thread the Carnation Instant Breakfast was a great option. When I loaded it into fit day I had a huge realization that this should NOT be my main source of Protein supplements (WAY too high in carbs). Now thats not to say I may not have it occasionally as a change, but you got me thinking about my choices. Thank you for that. When you said we can't have OJ or fruit, it made me go back through my stuff from my dietician and realized that is just a difference in our programs, and those things are OK for me. Not wrong that you put it out there, just different from my program. I think everyone has their own opinions that we must remember are just that...opinions . Isopure, in my opinion, is the nastiest stuff ever put on this planet , in addition to being one of the most expensive protein sources I have found. But others love it, so I try to keep that opinion to myself (most of the time), because someone looking for a new choice should decide that for themselves. Maybe were all just getting cranky because were sugar deprived Group Hug

To Band ... or not to Band.

Your surgeon should also provide you with statistics at your initial appointment. He should discuss all the risks and in what % of patients they occur. Do also try to research the risks of obesity. That will help you get a balanced picture. Good luck in your decision.

I have the Unjury packets. I just want the little tube packets that are easier to carry around and pour into water bottles. The packets will work in the meantime though. Thanks!

OMG!!! I found my protein heaven. I mixed 12oz of crystal light strawberry kiwi flavor (my favorite) with 3 scoops beneprotein for a 75 cal, 18 gm protein drink that tastes EXACTLY like my original crystal light. When my DH gets home I'm gonna make him do a taste test to see if he can tell the difference. You know...they should make beneprotein in the little single serve powder tubes like crystal light comes in, and that would be the easiest thing to travel with. I just might have to write them a letter and suggest that. Doing my protein happy dance!:banana BTW...have you checked out all the different dancing bananas??? In particular banane56. LOL
