  1. Hi everyone! I have been pursuing lap band for a few months now, with no luck. I'm 22 and have recently visited my orthopedic surgeon where he told me I have the knees of an 82 year old. Aside from severe arthritis, bone spurs, and depleted soft tissue I suffer from recurring patella subluxation. This means that my knee cap pops out of place on a weekly basis. It is an excruciating situation and my Doc says that the ONLY option I have left is weight loss, and fast. I explained to him that I have already pursued it and that my insurance doesn't cover it. He told me to pay out of pocket (I laughed in his face). SO, I'm going to appeal the insurance company. I'm hoping that because of my age and the situation my knees are in (patellas are inoperable because they are "loose cannons") that my insurance company will have mercy on me. I have Humana insurance. If you have any suggestions or experience with writing successful appeals please let me know. I currently have TWO orthopedic surgeons willing to write letters, as well as my family doctor. Thanks for any info you can give!
