  1. I've had my lap band for 7.5 months and have lost 91 lbs. It has literally changed my life for the better. My cholesterol was over 300 and now is normal. I was taking three different blood pressure meds daily and now not needing any meds. Once adequate restriction was obtained, my appetite and amt. that I was eating drastically decreased. I feel soooooooo much better and my energy level has gone way up. I truly feel the lap band saved my life. I hope you have good results with it like I have. Just remember, it is a tool and you have to work with it...

Can I ask at what point you reach good restriction.....how many fills did it take?

  2. Lately, when I show my friends how big my clothes are, falling off me, or when they notice me in better-fitting clothes, I see absolute pride and cheer-leading in their eyes...they are so genuinely happy for me, and it makes me feel very, very good.

Not just weight loss, but many of life's challenges and ups and downs can weed out the fair weather friends.

I encourage you to spend your time with the people who truly support you and care about you, and don't let their own personal agenda interfere with your success.

  3. Hi, I'm almost 5 weeks post op, and whenever i bend over from a standing position, like to tie my shoes or pick something up, I get a "squishy, scrunching, rubbing feeling" sor of deep in my lower abdoment, sort of to the left.

The first time I noticed it was about one week post op, and I feel it each time I bend.

Anybody ever feel anything like this?

  4. I was banded July 23 and really thought I'd bounce back and feel great. I was seriously "agitated" for about 4 days, and I think it was just the anethesia working its way out of my system. Gas really hurt my shoulder and above my rib cage. I walked, walked and walked. Because of the agitation, I couldn't sit still for long. Like others, I'd start to say, wow I feel pretty good, then a few hours later be a basket case. I also loathed the Liquid Protein, or even thinking about it. By a week out when I started to add Soup, things were getting much better. Also changing from shakes to the costco 25 g Protein Shots was a big help.

  5. I was banded July 24. After a week and a half of Liquid Protein, couldn't stand it, and moved to Soup and mushies - mostly cottage cheese and scrambled eggs. At about 2-1/2 weeks, started regular food. Small bites and chew well, and everything goes down just fine, no problems at all. I go for the Protein first, always get enough in with food, and stay under 1,000 calories. I lost 20 lbs in the liquid protein stage, then gained back 4 in the mushy, apx 800 cal/day stage. Now I've lost that 4 and am sticking to my 1,000 - knowing my body is just figuring it all out, and will start dropping soon.
