  1. hi there....last 5 or 6 times I've been back to costco, I can't find the protein shots. they must have discontinued them. I don't know what BJs is. good luck!
  2. Can I ask at what point you reach good restriction.....how many fills did it take?
  3. Lately, when I show my friends how big my clothes are, falling off me, or when they notice me in better-fitting clothes, I see absolute pride and cheer-leading in their eyes...they are so genuinely happy for me, and it makes me feel very, very good. Not just weight loss, but many of life's challenges and ups and downs can weed out the fair weather friends. I encourage you to spend your time with the people who truly support you and care about you, and don't let their own personal agenda interfere with your success.
  4. Hi, I'm almost 5 weeks post op, and whenever i bend over from a standing position, like to tie my shoes or pick something up, I get a "squishy, scrunching, rubbing feeling" sor of deep in my lower abdoment, sort of to the left. The first time I noticed it was about one week post op, and I feel it each time I bend. Anybody ever feel anything like this? Banded 7/23/09 280 pre op / 273 at surgery / 255 now
  5. they are in the vitamin section at costco, near the protein shakes fruit punch or orange, 2.6 oz, 25 grams. sickeninly sweet, kind of like cough sypruo, but you can get them down fast and forget about it!
  6. I was banded July 23 and really thought I'd bounce back and feel great. I was seriously "agitated" for about 4 days, and I think it was just the anethesia working its way out of my system. Gas really hurt my shoulder and above my rib cage. I walked, walked and walked. Because of the agitation, I couldn't sit still for long. Like others, I'd start to say, wow I feel pretty good, then a few hours later be a basket case. I also loathed the liquid protein, or even thinking about it. By a week out when I started to add soup, things were getting much better. Also changing from shakes to the costco 25 g protein shots was a big help.
  7. Komen -- are you talking about Ben Komen? I'm such a fan....was inspired by his appearance and talk at a Tom Ferry Coaching event a year or two ago. Good for you, and good luck!!!
  8. try the protein shots from costco -- definitely syrupy and sweet (which I don't like) but can tolerate for just 2.6 oz and 25 grams of protein. Usually pinch my nose when I go for the first gulp-- with a glass of water in the other hand -- but they go down fast and I can handle them better than a 30 gram chocolate shake. The orange flavor is better than the fruit punch.

    What are you eating?

I was banded July 24. After a week and a half of liquid protein, couldn't stand it, and moved to soup and mushies - mostly cottage cheese and scrambled eggs. At about 2-1/2 weeks, started regular food. Small bites and chew well, and everything goes down just fine, no problems at all. I go for the protein first, always get enough in with food, and stay under 1,000 calories. I lost 20 lbs in the liquid protein stage, then gained back 4 in the mushy, apx 800 cal/day stage. Now I've lost that 4 and am sticking to my 1,000 - knowing my body is just figuring it all out, and will start dropping soon.
  10. Hi All, I'm being banded tomorrow morning - 7/23/09 - and just curious what amount of calories you all take in once you're eating again...what's the best calories count to get the best weight loss? And....do you manage to hit your protein gram requirements? Thanks!

Calories and Protein -- how do you do it?

I'm being banded on Thursday....will do liquid for 3 weeks, mushies for 1 week, the introduce regular food. Once on regular food, how many calories do y'all generally get in...in order to keep losing at a good clip? Also, is it easy to get your protein in? Dietician said I need 98 grams. Thanks for your input!
