  1. STD varies from company to company and there are also various options you can choose including it starting at day one. This is the most expensive options so many choose to start at day 7- also as far as what gets paid that is up to you as well (if you pay for your STD) most of the time 60-80% of your pay. Now saying that I will only be out for 4 days total and I am using vacation....

    Progress but Hungry...

I started on the 5th as well- as of this am I have lost 4 lbs- it is difficult. I am getting terrible headaches (no stranger to migraines) but am not allowed any pain relievers (can take migraine meds if it gets that bad) --- I am determined to follow the rules- I am shaky and light headed most of the time. BUT I will do this- it is only 2 weeks..... sorry to complain....
  3. I helped u out but she is not in 3rd- she only has 29 votes.... others have thousands.... Good Luck!
  4. My insurance won't pay because i work for a company with less that 50 employees- the same insurance pays for the procedure for larger companies (this is perfectly legal in Maryland) so I am forced to pay out of pocket. Locally it is $17k but I decided to check out of state (not country) I am flying to Detroit, MI on July 15th and having surgery on the 16th- per the doctor I can fly back home the next day. I am choosing to stay local for another 2 days and fly home on Sunday- in total with airfare, hotel (they supply room for 2 nights) and surgery I will pay $11k (this includes my mom's airfare) - you can deduct on your taxes. So if you are ready then jump in feet first.... good luck!

    Skinny Ass Boyfriend

Hi I have a similar experience as you- 1st he tried the "you are beautiful just the way you are" and then he went further and put me down about being a quitter and not trying hard enough to lose it on my own. I basically said to him that I am doing this and you will support me 100% or be out of my life. I stood my ground. He came around and I start liquids today and he is 100% supportive. You will do great...on another note I live in Frederick, MD and am having surgery the day before you- so if you wanna get in contact let me know. Evie
  6. Hey! I had my niece last night- a 4 yr old- she is a handful! How are you doing on your pre-op diet? I leave for New Orleans on Friday for work- my mom is going with me- I will be gone for a week- what day is your surgery again, the 29th right? GOOOOOD LUCK in case I don't catch up with you before then.

  7. Hello sorry I got distracted and then fell asleep- I am good at that- I loooovvveeee my sleep....I will catch up to you on here later....

    July Jewels 2009

Chad to get the tag in your signature you have to copy "code" you find the one you want (there are several version on the site) you right click on it and copy as URL- then go to Edit Signature, and paste that code into the signature box where you want it- then preview signature to make sure it shows up, then save signature.... that should hook you up. If you have problems PM me- I am around most days. Evie
  9. David- I don't know what you are paying but I am going to Michigan for mine because the price was $7k lower in MI than my home state of Maryland- the doctor is EXCELLENT (John Webber, MD) and the hospital they use is a center for excellence and JAHCO Certified for Obesity surgery (both of these items are awesome- I work in the medical field) I am paying $10,500 and that included my procedure, hotel stay, hospital stay (24 hrs) and two extra days of hospital stay- they also take Care Credit which is a medical credit card so I didnt have to max out my personal credit cards. The airfare to MI was cheap $200 and they pick you up at airport and bring you back to the airport. Let me know if you need further information about this!! Evie
  10. just thinking about you! Hope everything went well!

    Hugs and Love

  11. Phattat- good try it out and report back to us if that was enough.... Trust me I look at that amount and laugh but I hope it is true.... Good luck!!
  12. Research your surgeon- they should be preforming both the band and the bypass- if you get one that does just one- RUN. They are not properly trained to give you all the information you need to make an informed decision. You can very much "out eat" your bypass (I have seen it several times), you can drinking a ton of calories with the band and do the same. Surgically speaking the band is low risk next to the bypass- the recovery is less but you do lose on a slower (not necessary lose less weight) rate. That does not really help with sagging skin- that has to do with age, condition of the skin, etc. Your mind needs to be in the game to play. So whatever you decide on you need to be commited to 100% or you will not succeed. The guy who just got his fill and is barfing- you should only be eating 1/2 to 1 full cup at a meal- chew well (20 x's) and cut smaller pieces. I wish you all luck and stop by the chat room to talk to some expert banders! They answer a lot of questions..... There are a lot of guys here- you just gotta find them- a few hang in the chats- one has lost 120lbs in a year and another is down 80, I think.

    Bandster Hell AND Surgeon Hell

I agree with Emjay- I have been running medical practices for over 15 years and the doctor normally doesn't open the mail. I do- so when I get a letter like that (very few in my career, but doctors are human and do have bad days sometimes) I make sure that I speak to the doctor first to get "his side of the story" and then I speak to the patient. Sometimes patients and doctors don't hit it off and they need to seperate. He will miss you even with a busy practice because patients who are unhappy talk more than patients who are happy. See you go back to your primary care and say that doctor stinks and then he may not recommend others to go there..... it is a vicious circle... good luck!!

    Bandster Hell AND Surgeon Hell

If you are not happy with your doctor then find another one who can follow your progress and do your fills- set up an initial consult with the new doc and explain your issues. It is very difficult to get over a doctor treating you that way- and he will gain a very bad reputation if he continues that. Oh and BTW he can't take your band away---- Its YOURS. And you are doing fabulous!!
  18. Helllllllo? anyone out there?

    New Blog

Hi All-- I figured I would start my blog of my journey now... It is June 15th and I have a few more weeks of band free living but am debating about starting a pre- pre diet - I am kinda sick of food right now.... I have been pretty much eating anything I want and have lost 3 damn lbs!! Now how the hell does that happen? I am totally uncomfortable in all of my clothes and can't wait to drop the first 20 lbs so my clothes fit comfortably again. Spent the weekend in Ohio with Lorenzo and we had a wonderful time. He has finally decided that he can support me in my efforts to perm. lose weight. I am glad about that- I don't think I can have negative people around me while going through this process.

  21. OK the question about pre-op diet--- it is to reduce the fat in the liver so that the doctor can move your liver easier... if they move it and it is fatty it can tear. EVEN if you doc doesn't give you a pre-op diet it is in your best interest to reduce to liquids at the very least for the week prior to surgery. Just my opinion (Oh I work for vascular surgeons so I know where info is coming from) I am leary of docs who don't have a pre-op plan...
  22. checkin in to see how your pre-op diet is going? are you following the plan? how hard is it?! had a great weekend in Cleveland- weather was great and we went and had a nice time at the Hard Rock Cafe and there is an underground mall where I did some serious damage! Hope to see you on-line tonight.
