Getting Sleeved tomorrow - getting a little scared
Relax-- you will do great! Someone told me if I wasn't worried about getting my appendix out I shouldn't be worried about the sleeve. Just think about the "up side" of being healthy! Best of luck for a smooth speedy recovery!

I may name my new stomach...lol
I am in the mushie stage of the post op diet. Last night I was eating refried beans and had a couple of bites too many. OMG my stomach talked to me! There was this really loud growl --lol--unlike anything I had ever heard before!!! I interpreted it as my stomach saying .... Put that darn fork DOWN!!...lol. I think I am going to have to name my new friend.... any ideas?

Are you shocked by how much others eat?
We went to the beach this past weekend. I splurged and got some she crab soup from a favorite restaurant. Oh it was good but just a little too rich. I had some and froze the rest for another day. I used to be able to finish the soup and then eat the main course!

when do others notice?
My hubby says he can tell but when he says something I think to myself---"You are just being nice"

Are you shocked by how much others eat?
lol I completely understand. The other day I went out to lunch with 2 girlfriends. I just got a side dish of refried beans. They got these big mexican lunches. I probably only had 8 bites and got a to go bag. There plates were clean ! Oh I used to eat just as much... maybe more!

when do others notice?
I am only 2 weeks post op and am very pleased that I have lost 30 lbs since i started the pre op diet. But I look in the mirror and can't tell I have lost any weight at all!! Do others have that problem? At what point can you and others really tell you are loosing weight. Right now people say "you look great" but they aren't sure if I changed my hair style or what the change is........

Are you shocked by how much others eat?
I am only 2 weeks post op so my eating amount is very small ,but geez I never noticed how much food my hubby eats!! He has dinner and then a little bit later a snack, and then maybe a dessert before he goes to bed. I have to bite my tongue not to say...."Oh my gosh are you eating AGAIN?"...lol :001_tt1:

stoongal - did you post all the details?
I wouldn't exactly describe it as being "tickled from the inside" - it was a very strange feeling- it didn't hurt but I was glad when he FINALLY stopped removing it!!

Id love to hear more from the recently sleeved group!
Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since Surgery and I feel absolutely wonderful. Essentially no pain or discomfort with surgery at all. I was walking the neighborhood the day after I got home from the hospital and have been at the gym once a day since 5 days post op. I have had a little trouble with head hunger but all in all life is good. I could have gone back to work probably after a week, maybe week and a half but I am taking 3 weeks off. I am enjoying just focussing on myself.

Cure for Head Hunger
What are some learned tricks of the trade for head hunger? I do really well all day until the family sits down for dinner. Then the head hunger goes crazy!! All day long I am fine but come dinner time I would love to cheat and dig into a piece of chicken ( not there yet) Please help I don't want to just avoid dinner time all together- that is one of the few times everyone is all together.( I have two teenage children who stay on the move!)

Skipping Meals / Drinking & Eating
I was told no fluids 30 min before or 30 min after food- for the same reasons you listed above- mainly it pushes food out of your stomach too fast
-
able to sleep on my side
I guess I am just a determined side sleeper- I was doing it in the hospital right after my surgery. It would take me a few minutes to get there but I did it...lol

What do you want to do that you couldn't do before the sleeve?
I would like to scuba dive again too

Good decision
Thank you for sharing your story. I was nervous before surgery but now post op I know this is the best thing I could have ever done for myself.
