    Vision Changes Post WLS

Did your prescription change for the worse? I noticed that right after my surgery my eyesight was definitely worse for a couple of weeks but it has returned to "normal" since then. My doctor had not heard of that happening before.
  2. Haha VSGAnn2014, that's awesome! Your response just gave me a big smile!
  3. Is it safe to take an Omeprazole the day before surgery? I sure wish it wasn't Sunday so I can call the doctors office and ask.

    Not feeling well at all

@@HopeandAgony - I do not have my gallbladder either. I talked to my sister-in-law, who is a Nurse Manager and who had the gastric bypass about 13 years ago. She said to go ahead and take the Omeprazole that I have prescribed to me for heartburn. Just since last night I haven't felt as nauseated so I am really happy about that. A few days ago I saw my surgeon and told him that I was taking the Omeprazole as needed so I'm pretty sure that it is okay that I take them up through tomorrow. Just nothing after midnight on Sunday night. One and a half days to go. I have to keep my eyes on the prize! Good luck to you!!

    Not feeling well at all

@InnerSurferGirl - I am at least consuming all of the Water that I need. I will stay in touch with my NUT. I probably should have called her already. @@MissMac - Thank you for responding. All of your responses have made me feel better. I really appreciate it and really needed it hear it!

    Not feeling well at all

Thank you all for your responses. They do help. @@cbruce125 - I couldn't agree with you more! @@BLERDgirl - fruit or fruit juices are a no no for me but thanks for the idea. @InnerSurferGirl - I have the same pre-op diet as HopeandAgony. 2 Protein shakes, 4 ozs protein (food) and 1/2 cup veggies. My doctor said consuming 500-800 calories is the goal. You are allowed to have 2 sugar free jellos, 2 sugar free ice pops and 2 servings of chicken/beef broth each day, in between meals. My problem is that I feel so nauseated all of the time that I have to force myself to get in the 2 shakes, 4 oz protein and sometimes I can't even get the veggies down. I know I only have two days left so I will deal with it but my original question was do these feelings go away? I just don't want to live like this for the next year.

    Not feeling well at all

Thanks Solmar. I don't even feel hungry. Everything taste nasty anyway. I just hate feeling so weak all of the time. I'm trying to hang in there but I find that I am questioning my decision to even do this because I don't want to feel like this forever! Good luck to you though! Sophie, how far post-op are you? Do you still feel weak?
  8. I am on day 10 of my pre-op diet and it is kicking my butt. I feel so weak and nauseated most of the time. I'm consuming around 500-700 calories per day. My surgery is scheduled for Monday. My question is, for those of you that are post-op, how long do you feel this way? Or, did you feel this way when you were doing your pre-op diet. I don't know how much longer I can do this.

    pre-op diet

@@eccentricprof, WOW. I haven't heard of anyone else not having to do the pre-op diet but then again, I haven't asked anyone either. It is so interesting to me how different each doctor's "rules" are. I see that treblecutie can have some of her shakes with fat free milk where we (I was in a "class" with 27 other people) were told absolutely no milk products. It makes you wonder why there are so many different approaches to the same surgery.

    pre-op diet

I got my Protein mix from the doctors office. Cookies and cream. Surprisingly, not too bad. I'm supposed to have two of those to replace two meals and then 4 oz of protein and a 1/2 cup of non starchy veggies. Plus I can have two sugar free jellos, two sugar free popsicles and two servings of chicken of beef broth per day. What is your pre-op diet like? I'm just curious if they are all basically the same.

    pre-op diet

@treblecutie....I'm hoping that our bodies will get used to the small amount of calories within the next couple of days. When is your surgery date? Mine is the 9th.
  12. I am on my second day of the pre-op diet. From the "doctors orders" I did consume 63 grams of Protein yesterday but it only came up to 566 calories. Does that seem right? Of course, it seems low to me. I woke up today feeling weak and with a headache. Is this how you feel for the whole two weeks before surgery? Does your body get used to the few amount of calories? Just curious what I am looking at for the next two weeks. Any thoughts?

    Question from a pre-op

Thanks Dub, and everyone, for taking the time to write all of this. I am feeling more prepared everyday. Can't wait!!

    November Sleevers

I'm trying to start a list too. I've never heard of "injury chicken flavored protein". What exactly is that, fabnsab? I was thinking about getting some 2 oz & 4 oz containers. I think that will be helpful. I have heard some people buy little forks, knives and spoons. I wonder if that is necessary or if it really helps? If anyone has any tips, I'd love to hear them?
