  1. Congratulations!! I am 8 wks pregnant. So far, I have not had much nausea and haven't thrown up. I am scheduled this week for a complete unfill (I have only had 2 fills.) Even though I feel fine now, I have concerns about needing an unfill later on in my pregnancy. I am not sure I would trust my surgeon (or anyone else for that matter) to try to access my port that in the future could be somewhat displaced because of my baby!! I would rather deal with the hunger that put my baby at risk!!
  2. I have gone out to eat several times and have not had a problem. I have offered to show my card, but nobody really wants to see it. One place asked me for it before I offered!! I got cards from my surgeon and from the Lap Band manufacturer. Shannonsonline- When I went to GC I told them about my surgery. They said I could either pay the Senior Citizens price or use a to go container and weigh it. I went through the line with my container and got what I wanted. They just weigh it and you pay per pound!! Super easy and no hassle!!
  3. My husband and I went to Golden Corral one day and he got upset that it was $15 for him and $0.76 for me!!!
  4. My husband and I tried to get pregnant for over a year and even tried Clomid. I had my band placed June 2 and have lost 84lbs. I stopped the pill and am pregnant after only 2 months!! Has anyone else gotten pregnant so quick?? Both my ob and my surgeon are fine with it being so soon after surgery.
  5. What chewable prenatal vitamin did he have?? Is it by prescription or OTC??
  6. My nurse recomends 1 protein drink a day, just to add to the protein you get from food. I found a brand called Nectar. They have a lemonade that is really good, it is not chalky or thick. It's like Crystal Lite. I sometimes add little Cherry Crystal Lite for flavoring!!
  7. I think I am going to email the nurse to find out what he really does!! Thanks for all the help!!
  8. I hope he just doesn't tell us!!
  9. I am trying to get pregnant. My ob said a regular chewable vitamin is fine, just take an extra 400mcg of Folic Acid.
  10. I always feel tighter right before I start my period. But I have also read some pregnant women feel really tight early in pregnancy!! Good luck!!
  11. Just came from my second fill. I found out my dr does not keep track of how much Fluid is in (total)!! Kind of freaked me out!! He said he judges the pressure when he does a fill. Is this a common practice??
  12. I had my surgery the beginning of June. I am reading these replies and my experience is completely the opposite. I could "feel" the band/tightness in my chest immediately after waking up in PACU. I did not expect it at all. A friend and I had surgery the same day, and she experienced the same thing. I had really good restriction right after surgery. When I could eat foods, I could barely eat a frozen meatball and would get full!!
  13. I am a neonatal ICU nurse and went back to work in 10 days. (We had a weight restriction of 15lbs, but in the NICU that is generally not a problem.) All my coworkers knew about my surgery, that helped a lot. I always keep a glass of water ready!!
  14. I am not allowed to take anything that is in gummie form!! It could become stuck, like chewing gum!!
  15. I take an Omega 3 oil, 1 teaspoon a day. It does not taste fishy at all, just tastes like I have drunken oil!! It's by Carlson and I bought it at a natural nutrition store.
  16. My favorite NSV is when I get to adjust my rear view mirror in my car. My butt is smaller, so I don't sit as high!! I recently had to adjust!!
  17. I had my band placed on June 2, 2009. My dr said I could stop the pill anytime I wanted to; he would just unfill my band when I become pregnant. I set a goal of how much weight I wanted to loose first. I am almost at my goal weight and stopped the pill last week!! Hopefully, it won't take too long!!
  18. Ever since I starting soft foods I have (off and on) had an achy feeling or lumpy feeling in my throat. After having a fill under fluoroscopy, he said things looked fine. He said more than likely I was feeling esophogeal spasms or peristalsis.
  19. I wondered the same thing!! I have only had my band through 1 period. I had heartburn several times starting about five days before starting. I wondered if maybe it was from bloating and that would pressure on the band?? Who knew!!
  20. I had my band placed on June 4th. Up until last week, I could only eat a very small amt of food at a time and would be full for hours. I just had my first fill last week. My nurse told me I probably carry my weight in my abd and would be able to eat more the more weight I lost. Hope this helps!! p.s.- my dr. does fills under fluoroscopy and he said everything looked fine!!
  21. I had my band placed on June 2, 2009. Since surgery, I have lost 37lbs, 50lbs total. I am scheduled for my first fill next week, but truly feel I do not need it. Actually, I am a little nervous about getting it. I can only eat 1-2Tbls at a time and most of the time feel full for hours. Is anybody else like this??
  22. I saw on Food Network that Icee's are carbonated!! Who would have thought??
