  1. Hey how are the early April Bandster Bunnies doing? Have not heard from some of you in so long - Mammasugar, Ravyn, Montynic, Waynooo, Melliebelle, Twinslerely, Happytrucker - are you all still out there and doing ok? Would love to hear from you!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Guys,

I am doing great. I am working on my Thesis for my master’s degree; so between that work, hubby and the baby, I cannot seem to log on as much. I am also relocating to Alabama from VA and getting a house built as well. I promise that I need about 48 hours in my day. I have not abandoned by Bandster Bunnies. You guys are a part of my life forever.

UPDATE: I went for me second post-op on 4/30. E'thing went great and I get my first fill on 5/11 . I am not sure if I really need it bcos I am yet to experience a bout of hunger sensation. However, I am not sure if it is because my portion sizes maybe slightly larger. The other thing was I had only lost .5Ibs since surgery as of 4/30. Well for some reason, this week I have lost about 3.5Ibs and I am excited. I started working out on the elliptical doing about 2.5 miles every day. I think the exercise makes a huge difference.

Guys, since we are all done with surgery, I was thinking about starting a thread for us in the Post -Op thread. That way we can still access each other and feed of the experience of the veterans. Or wld u rather continues with this thread. What do u guys think?

Love u all and I am so glad that we all made it safely thru the procedure. God is good.

  2. I am three weeks post-op. I have been doing fine with the exception of terrible gas pain in the afternoon. Every afternoon, I feel extremely terrible and all I do is take Gas X and pass gas all evening. I am not sure what is going on but it is not fun. I had lost a total of 25lbs since the pre-op diet. However, the past 2 weeks, the scale has stopped moving in the right direction. I have gained 3lbs since surgery. I am not sure why, because I eat small portions and my calorie intake per day is between 800 and 1000 a day. I have eliminated all simple carbs and very little complex carbs.

I am not discouraged just a tad bit disappointed that my scale is not going down. I still belive that I made the right choice and when I see my doctor next Friday, I will express my concern.

  3. Hi Guys, I have been missing in action for a little over a week. I had some personal issues that I had to resolve. By the Grace of God it is all good.

  4. Hi Family, let me apologise for not being able to post over the weekend. I am doing relatively fine. I flew last week to surprise the family. The plane ride was uneventful with the exception of this rolling pain in the chest/esophagus area that seems to stop me in my tracks.

Hubby and baby girl were so happy to see me. My family says they can tell I lost weight. I did have a pre-op appoint on 04/08. My incisions looked great. I told nurse that if I drank one more shake I will jump off the roof (lol). I had lost 18lbs on the doctors scale since March 8th. However, I have lost 25 on my personal scale. I have been using my personal scale to update ticker factory. I explained my chest pain to the nurse and she believes that it is the hitial hernia repair. Advised that I take pain meds and sudafed to reduce allergy and sinus drainage.

I experienced intermittent pain the whole weekend in the chest area. I am not sure what triggers the pain, but whenever I lean my head back I get relief. This pain sorts of roll down my chest. Also, whenever, I swallow I sort of feel the food going down in a slow and almost painful way. I am ready to heal and get back to norma.

    CHALLENGES:

:mad:I hate sipping my drinks, I just want to drink

:mad:I miss a cold glass of coke on ice

:mad:I hate that it takes me so much time to eat and makes my food cold (love hot food)

    :mad:CHEWING gets boring.

:thumbup:I AM LOVING THE WAY MY CLOTHES ARE LOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Worth the challenges:thumbup:

  5. this mornin, I woke up feeling very naseaous, I also started my TOM (time of month) overnight. I am not sure if there is any relation to my nausea. I am still on liquids and at this moment I cannot phatom having another Protein drink. I have been sipping on calorie free lemonade to cut down on the naseauted feeling.

I s/w nurse advised that I was feeling like crap. I told her that I cannot do the pro shakes today. She convinced me to try other brands. I was not able to get my shakes in today. Whenever, I tried I wld gag and I did not want to risk vomitting. My doctor prescribed me some nausea medication. Just liquids and a chocolate malt energy drink called MILO (very popular in Mexico and Africa). God willing, 2morrow I will go and buy some Protein Shots.

I have pushed my post op for 2 morrow. Catching a flight to see my family afterwards. I am suprising them, was supposed to get there on Saturday, but I just can't wait.

What happened to my ability to BURP! All I want to do is burp. Also, I have been able to fart (TMI) quite a few times today. ThanK God I am alone.

Congrats to all those banded 2day. God be with those being handled 2morrow.

  6. April 27th here...really nervous!! Never had surgery before or never been put to sleep!!!! I had a friend come up to me yesterday trying to talk me out of it because she said she knew ppl that had died from this surgery! I about DIED!! Scarred me so bad I went home and researched the percentages of deaths with LAP-BAND®!! I am still going through with it because I have Jesus in my heart and on my side!!

Hi Love, u have the answer to the question. Jesus is the ultimate doctor and healer. People get killed eday by driving down the street. Keep ur faith, commit the surgery team in God's hands and keep going. Fear and faith can not reside in the same space. By HIS stripes u r healed. God Bless

  7. Hi Guys, I got banded on 04/02 (last Friday). I have done pretty well so far with the exception of the normal gas pain and discomfort.

However, this mornin, I woke up feeling very naseaous, I also started my TOM (time of month) overnight. I am not sure if there is any relation to my nausea. I am still on liquids and at this moment I cannot phatom having another Protein drink. I have been sipping on calorie free lemonade to cut down on the naseauted feeling.

I have called my doctor and left a message. Any advise from the vetrans will help.

  8. Congrats to all those banded 2 day. Welcome to the other side.

    UPDATE:

Today is a much better day. Of course the gas is still trapped but I managed to flush some out. I walked two miles today:thumbup:.1 mile this mornin and another this evening at a pace of 2.2 mph on the treadmill. I have very little pain at the incision area only when I cough.

Went to grocery store to pick up a few items. I was so happy that the section that usuall excit me was not even an issue. I have my post-op appt on Friday and I fly on Saturday to go see my hubby and baby girl. I miss them so much.

Good Luck to all the Bunnies crossing over 2morrow. God bless

  9. Hi Guys, just thought I wld check in today. I have been doing fine with the exception of uncomfortable gas, intermittent pain in my chest/shoulder area. I am still on full liquid diet. Having problems getting in all my shakes. I actually missed my afternoon shake and I cld tell the difference this evening. I was almost sort of hungry. Well, I am at the moment working on my shake now.

The gas has been very stubborn today. I can't seem to get it out. Managed to drive to the store and bought some GAS X chewables and that seems to be working. I have had a few precious Farts this evening. I have a whole new respect for farting after this experince. I callled my doctor about the pain in my chest/shoulder area and he recommeded walking and Ibrofen. I walked a bit this mornin and evening. I stopped taking the Percocet today. Need a clear head to recover. Swtiching to over the counter.

I miss my hubby and daugther so much. I don't get to see them till Saturday. Had a few down moments today, but I managed to get over it quickly. I am getting cabin fever. Contemplating going back to work a few hours a day for the rest of the week.

Sorry abt the rambling. Luv u guys and good luck for all those being banded 2morrow.

Congrats to all those banded 2day.

  10. First of all I want to thank the God that I serve, for a successful surgery. I also want to thank each and everyone of you for the well wishes.

I am still sort of oozzy from all the meds, but I wanted to let e'one to know that I am doing chezzy. I will post details 2morrow when I am all alert and probably sound sane. The pain is almost non-existence, just a little discomfort. Still at the hospital, will spenf the night here.

I have had nothing to eat all day, just four cups of ice and 4 oz of sippping Water over an hour and a half. I am not hungry just a constant dry throat.

Will post a more detailed surgery experience once I am sober. Guys we can do this. Lets do this.

  11. Congratulations to our first April Bandster Bunny. I glad you are doing great.

Well 2morrow is my day. I know that by the Grace of God e'thing will be great. I went to Wal-Mart and picked up a few last mintue items. Hubby and baby girl are out of town at my sister's till I get stronger. My sorority sister flew in from Atlanta to be with me till Tuesday. I am so happy that she is here with me.

My time is 1 pm. So once I am able to post something I will. Love u guys and take care.

  12. Hi Guys, I have been away for a few days but I am glad to be back. My sister had a baby shower this weekend and I am glad to report that I was able to say no to her beautiful and moist looking starwberry cake. I think that my mind is ready for the band. I use to never say no to cake.

Anyway, the pre-op has been a challenge. I could lie to myself and say I did not cheat, but that would be lying. However, when I strayed off course, it was still within the parameters of the my doctors pre-op diet (just a little xtra). I have lost about 8Ibs.

I am praying that all of us go thru this without any difficulties or complications. U guys are great and can't wait.

Welcome to all New Bandster Bunnies. We are growing.

  14. Hi everyone!

I am being banded on April 14th. I had a final appointment with my doctor last night and today I meet with the dietician to get all of the pre-op diet insturctions.

The 2 week pre-op and 2 week post-op diet makes me very nervous! I have done both Medifast and Optifast and could not tolerate the Protein shakes. The nutritionist said that they use unjury and that it tastes good, she gave me a sample and I have been afraid to try it!

Has anyone else had a similar experience with the Medi/Opti fast, and have also used the Unjury? I am hoping that prayer and a good support system, online, at home and at work will get me through the month of April.

Congratulations on becoming an official April Bandster Bunny! I have never tried the Medi/Opti, however, my doctor also recommended UNJURY. It does taste pretty good. The only problem I have is that you need to mix with milk and I am lactose intolerant. Also, using milk does increase the number of calories in the shake and carb content as well. I did it the first few days and I issues with it, so I stopped and started using shakes from a website called Doctors Weight Loss. The nutrient packet is pretty much the same only u use Water to mix and it taste pretty good. The UNJURY strawberry Sorbet taste really good. U can use either Water or lemonade to mix it.

Congratulations and please join the April Bandster Bunny!!!!!!

  15. So today was day 1 of my sugar buster diet and boy am I super hungry, but day 1 is over and I did really well. I have a really awesome supportive husband that is doing the diet with me, even though he is in awesome shape and doesn't need to diet...True love!!!

I am sure it gets easier. I am glad that you have a supportive hubby. That really makes a difference. So what do they have u feasting on with the sugar bust diet?

  16. I can only speak to my situation. My doctor did the initial information session. After that most of my interactions has been with the Nurse Prac and the insurance coordinator. My final appointment was with my doctor, who then advised me on what to expect on the day of surgery, benefits of pre-op and explained the risk and benefits. He also addressed any concerns that I had and answered all my questions.

From what I understand the practice that I am using has Fill clinics on Fridays and the 5 surgeons rotated. My doctor was very knowledgeable about the whole process from begining to end. Good Luck with surgery!

  17. April 13th is my date, just did my pre op and meeting with the surgeon today. Starting my sugar buster diet and praying that goes well. I started my process in sept of last year, but had a couple of things hinder me from getting it done right away(stomach flu), my original date was feb 9th, but I believe in everything happens for a reason. Super excited to share all my process and read about all yours as well.

 CONGRATULATIONS:thumbup:. I am so excited for u. We are growing by the day. Go April Bandster Bunnies. We are going to do just great. What a blessing to have a second chance at life.

  18. Whatever you did that didn't follow your pre-op diet, you NEED to tell your surgeon right away!! Don't come here and ask our opinions, most of us are not doctors.

It is vitally important your doctor knows EXACTLY what you did and right away. You do not want to get on the operating table and have him surprised by something he was not expecting. Don't worry about a postponement of surgery or be afraid to tell him you cheated, it is a matter of having a successful surgery and result.

The other thing I would suggest doing right away is educating your "friends" about this journey. The last thing you need is people around you encouraging you to eat...birthday or not. What you need is support and encouragement when you make the right choice, not temptation into making the wrong ones. This is hard enough to fight our internal demons without help from external ones!

I really think that your tone is a bit harsh. We are all aware that most of us are not medical professionals. However, we are all either going through similar experiences or already been through it. As a result, it is not necessary to have a judgmental tone with one another. The main objective of this site is to provide peer support and learn from each other

We are all here for support and advice. Maybe, I am reading your post the wrong way and if I am let me apologize. She cheated on pre-op, so have I and thousands of others that have gone before us. It is not how many times you fail that makes you a failure. But how you recover and move on.

@ BriBri90, if you are very worried, please call your doctor and I am sure that he will put your mind to ease or help find a solution to your minor mishap. I am sure that he knows that most of us are in this situation because of will power. If we all had strong will power to say no to our favorite foods, he may not have such a lucrative job. Girl, dust those pastry crumbs of your mouth and keep going. Peace, love and happiness. God Bless

  20. CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not sure how long it took but u r home pretty fast. I am so happy for you.

I am yet to be banded so I can only imagine what u are going thru now. I guess a little walk here and then is supposed to help release some of the gas. Also, I read somewhere that a heating pad does help move the gas along.

Well, get u some rest and keep us updated. Thank God for a successful surgery. Happy B'day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:o
