  1. I had an endoscopy today and was told I had gas pockets above my band which was causing all kinds of issues for me. I can't find anything online about this. Help!! I might know more about this if my doctor had told ME anything after the procedure. But no of course not, she only talked to my hubby and I love him very much but he really doesn't understand any medical stuff. He also said she didn't even give him time to ask questions and he only talked to her on the phone, she didn't even go out to talk to him after it was done!! Anyway, anyone know anything about this??

    Endoscopy and weird diagnosis

I'd love to do that but I've had no luck getting the staff at this office to do anything! It took 3 weeks for them to even order my tests and then only because I went to the office and told them I needed it done asap because I couldn't eat anything without throwing up.

    Endoscopy and weird diagnosis

I have been throwing up almost everything I eat for a few months, even soft food. No heartburn, no acid reflux at all. I also have spurs on the vertebrae in my neck pushing against my esophagus. She gave me a script for Prilosec and was instructed to see her in 3 weeks. I've had lots of problems with this doctor (I've actually never met her yet....dealing with nurse practitioner). When the anaesthesiologist asked me questions he told me that I had acid reflux and I told him I didn't. He said this doctor had that down as what was wrong with me. I'm really confused.
  5. I had my lapband done in June 2009. Almost 3 years! My problem is that over the last year I've had some major health problems and have gained back 54 pounds!!! I've had 2 surgeries in that time. Both were for cyst removals, one on my breast (major yuck!!) and one on my shoulder. Both took quiet a while to heal and I wasn't able to exercise while healing. I've also had severe back problems during this time. I'm having an MRI done tomorrow and nerve induction tests done next week. They think I have Degenerative Disc Disease and pinched nerves. I have to say that during the surgeries I couldn't cook for myself and my husband did feed me but mostly Soups. It was things that I could have but not what I should've ate all the time but I wasn't in any shape to argue. I can cook now I just have to try to hurry because my back hurts so much. I'm eating what I'm supposed to but it's still hard to lose. I miss my elliptical!! Anyway, since it's so hard for me to do exercise, what suggestions do y'all have? I really want to lose this weight I've regained and it's driving me nuts!!
  6. Does anyone have Peripheral Neuropathy and exercise? Been trying to figure out the best exercises with this. I have extreme back and leg pain after exercising and was curious if anyone had found a good exercise routine for this? My doctors tell me to keep trying and to do yoga but so far we haven't figured out a good thing to do. Any help would be appreciated!

    Exercise with Peripheral Neuropathy?

Thanks for the suggestion about aquatic exercises. I'm going to try to sweet talk the hubby into buying me a pool. Our county closed down all the public pools due to budget cuts so I'd have to get one. Maybe an above ground one wouldn't be too bad, I'll check into that. I take Neurotin 300 mg. I'm supposed to take 5 a day but I just can't do that. They make me so sleepy, I'm really susceptible to anything that makes you sleepy. I have Lortab but try not to take them at all. I usually take 2 Neurotin at bedtime but occasionally I have to take an extra one during the day. Thanks again!

    Exercise with Peripheral Neuropathy?

I was wondering about the pool myself. We don't have a pool and the county has closed down the pools where I live due to budget cuts Maybe I can get my hubby to buy me a pool! I take Neurotin every night. I'm supposed to take 1600 mg a day but I don't do that..heck I have to be awake sometime! lol I take 2 neurotin at night and try not to ever take anymore than that although sometimes I do have to take 1 during the day for my back pain. I'm wondering about changing to Lyrica to see if that helps. I'll have to ask my doctor. Thanks for the pool suggestion, I'll work on my hubby

    Exercise with Peripheral Neuropathy?

Thanks! I've been walking but after I walk 2 or 3 days I have a lot of pain and can't walk for 4 or 5 days. I have another appointment soon so I'll just keep trying. Thanks again!

    party meatballs

Just use the frozen turkey meatballs (or homemade if I have time) and use sugar free grape or apple jelly and sugarfree bbq sauce. They are awesome and much lower in carbs. I make homemade turkey meatballs with package of ground turkey, 2 eggs, 1 onion, chopped, 1 green pepper, chopped, splash of milk, panko bread crumbs, black pepper, salt & garlic (about tsp of each), form into balls and bake in the oven at 350 for about 20 minutes. They are awesome and I just freeze the leftovers.
  11. I have this problem now too but thankfully not as bad as it used to be. I take 2 gummie fiber chews, 4 stool softeners and miralax every day. This works for me and it took me months to get to the point of anything that worked. The miralax works good for me with only about 1/2 glass of water/juice to put it in. Sometimes I will still have to do Milk of Mag but that is rare....thank goodness! I got really bad at first and had to have an enema once. It was terrible and so painful! Haven't done that in awhile thankfully! I think everyone has to figure out what works for them and it is different for everyone. Hope all this info helps you and good luck!

    FIBER

I have been using the FiberChoice gummies. They are really good and taste great too. I also have to take 4 stool softeners each day plus Miralax every other day. It seems like alot but it works for me so its okay. Every once in awhile I do have to take Milk of Mag too but not too often thank goodness! I hate that stuff. I think each of us has to find what works for them. Good luck!

    I (heart) Protein :D

Turkey bacon and turkey sausage are both okay to eat. They both have low carb and tast great! I eat turkey bacon, turkey sausage. I even found the Johnsonville Turkey & Cheddar brats. They are awesome! I mostly eat chicken and turkey now. I buy the ground turkey and turkey patties at the store. I just love turkey and chicken!

    Lack of nutrition

When I on the pre-op diet and when I first had the surgery I drank the Atkins protein shakes. Thats what I drank during the liquid stage and I just couldn't stomach them after that. Then I found the Oh Yeah! RTD protein shakes. OMG! They are just awesome! I can't have chocolate but I LOVE the vanilla creme and the strawberry is awesome. I'm so excited now because it comes in the big container in a powder. Its new! I ordered one a few days ago and I love it!! I was afraid it wouldn't taste the same but it does! I mix it with skim milk and it is just awesome. Finally a protein shake that I like! Good luck!

    Ice Cream Yet?

I don't believe it is extreme thinking to not eat ice cream. Everyone is different and approaches all this differently. That doesn't mean its wrong or extreme not to eat ice cream. This IS a Lifestyle change and everyones life is different. Having said that I do not eat ice cream but I do eat popsicles. I eat them everyday. It is my one treat that I let myself have. It doesn't have many carbs and I'm okay with it. I'm very religious about what I eat and what I can't. To me its not being narrow minded or wrong its just the way it is. For me, the weight watchers or skinny cow have way too many carbs for me to even consider eating them. Thats just me! I'm not saying everyone should be this way just that everyone has their own way.

    Stalled Bowels

I had problems before surgery and it was worse after. After alot of trial and error my doctor and I have decided what works for me. I take 4 stool softeners each day, Miralax 2 times a day and have now started the chewable fiber too. This works most of the time but sometimes I also have to take Milk of Mag....which really sucks! I hate Milk of Mag! Thank goodness I don't have to take it but once in a blue moon now. I know this sounds like alot of medicine but this has taken over a year to figure out what keeps me regular. It works for me and my doctor agrees with it. The chewable fiber have REALLY helped alot! I like them because they taste good. Benefiber has worked before but I just couldn't handle anything else to drink because of the Miralax too. Hope this helps.....it will get better, you just have to figure out what works for you. Hang in there, I know its not fun I have been there and thought I'd die.
  17. What kind of vitamins does everyone take? I've been feeling tired, dizzy and just blah the last week or so and when I called the surgeons office, they asked if i was taking the bariatric vitamins. I'm not. I tried them and OMG how nasty tasting they were! I ordered them online and paid quiet a bit for them but they were just awful. Now I'm taking the VitaCraves. I also take my calcium pills everyday. Anyway, does everybody take the bariatric vitamins? Thanks for your help!
  18. Has anyone had any problems with an infection in their belly botton? I had my surgery over a year ago. I got up this morning and went to take a shower and got a whiff of this (TMI) awful smell. Well, its my belly botton. My tummy right around it has been kinda sore for a few days but I wasn't sure what was going on. I'm gonna call my bariatric dr. office tomorrow but has anyone had this problem??? Please help! Any ideas on how to doctor it until tomorrow? Thanks!!

    Infection in belly button

I went to the doctor this morning....it was a yeast infection and they gave me Lotrisone for it. It sure burnt me up when I put it on for the first time but it feels alot better now!
  20. Hello, I have a question. I had surgery over a year ago and am having so much trouble finding a bra that fits!!! It is soooo frustrating. Before my surgery I was a D cup....now I'm an A cup....that is my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is anyone else having this problem???
  21. I have eaten snacks since I could eat after my surgery. When you get up at 4am and don't go to bed until 10 or 11 pm you have to have a snack some time during the day. My doctor is okay with it since it hasn't affected my weight loss any. My snack usually is either a protein bar, protein shake or string cheese/happy cow wedge with a slice of turkey. Sometimes I also eat peanut butter. It works for me and helps me make it through the day.
  22. I had my surgery almost 13 months ago. I've had problems with my bm's ever since. Really though I had some problems before. Right now my regime is Miralax every morning. Also, I take 4 stool softeners per day (2 in morning and 2 in evening). I also make sure I get at least 2 bottles of water per day. This works for me most of the time although to be honest, sometimes I still have to resort to Milk of Mag. YUCK!!! I hate Milk of Mag. so much! I get an upset tummy everytime I take it but it does work. My doctor also told me I could take the Miralax 2 times a day if I need to. I might have to try that next. We'll see.
  23. I was banded on 7/10/09 and have no regrets at all! This was the best thing I could've ever done for myself. I've lost so much weight and am more energetic and am starting to feel more outgoing and do things with my husband. I haven't really had any problems with the band and I just love it! I would do it again in a heartbeat! :smile2:

    Actigall/Ursodiol

I took this after having my surgery and I definetely would again. It is used to prevent gallstones. There was no question in my mind of not taking it. It prevents gallstones 98% of the time. I certainly didn't want to have gallbladder surgery after the lap band. I couldn't imagine have that done. This is just my opinion, but the doctor is the one that has the MD behind his name, if I trust him to do this surgery then I trust him to take the medicine when he thinks I should. Of course I read up on the medicine but I also respect and trust his opinion. That's just me! Good luck to you.

    What About Bread????

Those items are not good choices because they are loaded with carbs. I'm always aware of what has carbs and avoid it. The only thing with carbs I allow myself is orange juice (Simply Orange because it's lowest in carbs) and I always have a strawberry milk every evening to take Miralax with. I also eat one regular (not sugarfree) popsicle every evening. I love them and they give me that little bit that I need. The only bread I ever eat is the low carb tortillas. I use them to make sandwich wraps, grilled cheese, garlic bread and breakfast burritos. I love them! I don't even crave bread or sweets anymore.
