  1. I was curious about Dr. Aceves. My friend is wanting to get the sleeve done, and I have seen that so many of you have been done by this doctor and only have good things to say. She wants to get it done in Mexico because she figures it will be alot cheaper, but we would like to know a round about price if anyone knows, and maybe a phone #? We would appreciate any help to get her ball rolling!!

  2. Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you and I wish you all the best on your new journey (weight loss and marriage)! And when you do finally find that perfect dress, we want to see pix!! Happy Holidays!!

  3. How many days has it been now for you? I have to start my pre-op diet on Tuesday...ugh! My doctor said that I could have all of the above plus fat free cottage cheese and raw vegetables! So I am going to be nibling on carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes with salt, and lemons with salt...mmmm! I know it's not much but atleast it's something to crunch on, and my doctor said salt and pepper is fine, along with any other kind of spice you can think of. I hope it hits that hunger spot for you...good luck! Oh yeah V8 juice is ok too, and might be a little filling!

  4. So I went in for my last appointment before my surgery and I got everything ready and set-up, all my blood work done and ekg...but they also gave me a chest x-ray. Even the nurses thought this was odd and had never seen anyone going in for bariatric surgery need a chest x-ray. Naturally this made me a little nervous, has anyone else needed a chest x-ray? I have had no previous health problems (no diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol) in fact the only times I have ever been to the hospital is to get my gall bladder removed and to have my daughter! So if anyone has any ideas or feedback I would love to hear it.:crying:

  5. So I am pre-op, and will be having my surgery on 1/5/10. I was curious as to if I keep a steady workout throughout my weight loss journey will I have a chance at less flab? My thighs have always been huge so I am really worried, and I'm not sure I can afford any plastic surgery, but if I could what would be a round about amount for a Tummy Tuck, breast lift, or thigh lift? Any advice on avoiding extra flab would be greatly appreciated!!

  6. Netherfield,

Wow, you are doing great! Just to think that a year from now I could be 100 pounds lighter is so exciting! I can't wait to be where you are now. There are so many things that I can't wait to do (go to a a Water park, run/crawl around with my daughter, go hiking, go to the lake, wear shorts, etc.) I hope I have a great success story to tell others soon to inspire them like you have me...thank you!

  7. That is so true Carolyn. I didn't think of it that way, but they should know what they are doing regardless, oh well maybe it is just an easier way for them. They did give me a very short limited list of foods that are ok to eat before surgery:

    -fat free cottage cheese

    -any fresh vegetables

    -fat free yogurt

    -fat free milk

    -sugar free Jello or pudding

    -fat free Protein drinks

...and ummmm that's about it! Mmmmmm.......lol!

  8. Sounds great! Those are many of the things I am looking forward to! I used to be very athletic and I love the outdoors. I haven't been as social as I feel I can be, my weight holds me back alot and I am hoping for the confidence to overcome all of my fears and be the person that I have always hidden behind closed doors! And knowone can go wrong with a better sex life...Yaaaaa, I can't wait!!!

  9. Wow, this just seems to bring more questions. Why would all of our dr.'s give such different meal plans and exceptions for the exact same surgery? They said the no fat diet is only pre-op to shrink my liver, I am not sure if this diet will continue after surgery or if they ease up a little. I hope so because 2 weeks pre-op, and 6 weeks post-op of this diet will be rough...but nothing I can't handle!!

  10. I have been in a wonderful relationship for the last 4 years. My weight doesn't bother him at all, I am the one with the problem! We are both a little concerned with how my attitude might change, or if the transition from bigger to smaller might damage our relationship. Has anyone experienced any problems? Maybe positive or negative changes?

  11. I have been told to be on an absolutely no fat diet before my surgery to shrink my liver, but I was wondering if after my surgery I will be able to have a little. The reason I am asking is because I usually drink EAS Protein Shakes, they are cheap, easy to find and I enjoy them but they have 3 grams of fat so I am not allowed to have any on my pre-surgical diet. I definately want to find something that I can tolerate and afford before the time comes. Please help!!

  12. It might be a stupid question, but I'm not sure what it is so I'm not sure if it is or not...I been hearing alot about a drain??? Know one has mentioned this to me, and I'm not really sure what it is? Also, I am driving 5 hours for my surgery and was wondering how long I would be in the hospital and how long the actual surgery takes?

  13. I am new here but would like to get to know all of you and your stories! My surgery date is scheduled for January 5th! I am so excited! If anyone has some feedback of things I should be aware of, or things I need to prepare for, or maybe things I should stock up on...I would love to hear it! I can use all the help and support I can get!! Thank you, and hope to hear from you soon! :)
