  1. The band is not for everybody... that's for sure. A friend at works sister had the band and with it some very serious complications that almost killed her. You have to go into the whole process knowing all of the risks and even the fact that it does not work for everybody. My cousins wife has had it for over 10 years now... she had one fill after she got it and then never went back. She has learned to eat pass the band and has since gained weight.

I was banded back in June of 2009. I am down 104 lbs. The weight is coming off slowly and steadily. THIS WAS THE BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE!!

  2. DON'T YOU EVER !!! say ONLY !! You have done an awesome job !!! Keep up the great work this is just the begining.

LOL  I know that I should NEVER say only... My bad!! I am averaging over 4 1/2 lbs a month!! I think that is great!! Thanks for the words of encouragement!! We need to have each other's back!! LOL

  3. Had my surgery 6/30/09 and finally made it to 45 lbs lost. I have 54 lbs left to go! It is coming off a lot slower than I had hoped.:(

I had my surgery on 6/18/09 and I have 47 lbs. I am happy with the time that it is taking to come off. I did expect it to come off faster, but it is giving me a chance to actually work-out and work off the flab.

  4. I see so many of you losing over 60lb and I've done 45. what are your secrets? is this including pre-op diets? I know I should be happy, but when I see other losing so much more, I feel like I'm not doing something right!! Please tell me what you do. Thank you!!!

I have only lost 30 since my surgery on 6/18/09. My doctor says I am right where I should be. I just had another fill on Saturday... and I can really feel this one. He says the weight should start coming off quicker now. Although, I do not want to lose it too fast.

  5. Hello everyone just wanted to check in I had my third fill yesterday, I am down 32lbs, and looking forward to "onderland". Dr. T said I should really feel this "fill" work some wonders and its only been a little over 12 hours and I must that I feel a big difference from the last two fills so hope I can get to "onderland" with this fill. Surgery was 6/5/09.

Can anyone tell me how to get one of those little weight tracker things at the bottom of my post that shows my progress ??

I go for my 3rd fill tomorrow!! I hope I will have more restriction!! Will keep y'all posted.

Keam... If you just click on my tracker.. I beleive that will take you to the site to make your own.

  6. Thank you all for the suggestion about Water etc in the mornings. Ive been drinking my cup of black coffee warm, then I drink about 1 qt of water and that seems to do the trick. It s been about 3 days now it s much better. After the water I have the EAS Protein powder shake I buy in costco or BJ s, it has 27 g of protein plus the 8g that s in the fat free milk comes to 35g in the morning. I prefer chocolate over vanilla and sometimes I add a tablespoon of low sugar nestles quick, it adds to make it taste more like a shake for only an additional 30 calories. Thanks for all your advice good luck in continuing success. P.S. I also add crushed ice cubes to my shake

Chocolate Protein Shake mix, skim milk, crushed ice and a spoon full of Peanut Butter mixed in a magic bullet type mixer in the morning... Yummy!!

  7. Love walking. Also love my restriction. Takes me so long to eat a meal, I lose interest. Few swallows, feel the pain, wait for it to subside. Chew a little, swallow a little wait for burp, do again, do again, wait for hiccups to subside, food's cold, oh well. Forget about it.

I hope I get more restriction with my next fill (Sept 12th). I have been stuck at the same 18lbs lost for over a month now (but at least I haven't gained any). I look forward to the "Sweet Spot" I have heard so much about.

  8. I had my first successful fill with Dr. T. My second fill might have been with Dr. Samouha (I know his last name started with an S). I guess my port is tilted. Dr. Powell in Long Beach tried to give me a fill and after 20 minutes of sticking me with a needle (an not numbing me) he told me my port was flipped completely over and that I needed another surgery to fix it. I later went to Dr. T in Bevery Hills (about 2 weeks later) and he got it on the first try and told me there was nothing wrong with my port. I went back 2 weeks after that and was seen by yet another doctor (Maybe Dr. Samouha) who had some trouble with my port and told me my port was tilted. After about 10 minutes of trying, he finally got it (thank God he numbed me). I am going to try and stick with Dr. T., but he is not at the Bevery Hills office that much. My next fill appt is on Saturday 9/12/09 with Dr. T. If for some reason he is not available I will see the other doctor since he is now familiar with the position of my port.
