JohnTaylorsFan reacted to summerset in How did you know that you were done losing?
I think this can be a slippery slope. Too many people think of themselves as "failures" because they don't manage to reach and/or maintain a normal BMI but "only" a BMI of maybe 27 or 28 and are therefore not happy with what they've accomplished.
They only focus on "these last 10 lbs" and make themselves miserable, sometimes almost completely ignoring (or so it seems) the fact that they've maybe lost over 100 lbs.
They cry a river over the fact that they "gained 15 lbs back" despite having lost 150 lbs and now maintain a weight loss of 135 lbs, again feeling like failures.
It makes me sad how people sometimes sabotage themselves this way. And yes, I believe that this is some kind of self-sabotage, too - they're self-sabotaging in regards to "being happy".

My daily exercise was helpful as I was able to hike for 3 hrs and reach the top of a mountain! I was celebrating my "do over" (at 66 yrs old) that few people get to have...I'm so blessed.

JohnTaylorsFan reacted to CammyC in What age was yours?
Casey, here’s the thing with family and friends....F them. But not in a bad, angry way. Everyone you allow to know you’re making this decision is going to give you their uneducated, ignorant opinion. Stick to your guns as it were. I did not keep my surgery a secret. I was so excited about it I told my family, friends and close Co-workers. I got an earful. I let them say their peace for a moment and stood my ground! Thank you for your concern but I’m doing the research and this is my body and my choice. We’ve all heard it those of us that told others. Good luck on your journey to health and happiness!

JohnTaylorsFan reacted to CammyC in What age was yours?
I’m 40 years old and have struggled with my weight since I was 8 years old. I just had my sleeve surgery on March 3rd. I wish I would have done this years ago.

JohnTaylorsFan reacted to AJ Tylo in All of you struggling With this virus
I just want to take a moment and tell all of you who are struggling and off work and the family stress from this Calm down.
And why do i say this? Simple As a medium size business owner who pushed himself so hard and stressed out 8 years back! So what happened to me?
I ended up in Naples Community Hospital Cardio Ward laying on a table and wondering if i would ever see my kids again, who would take care of my parents, who would get the kdis thru college. You get the point
I am telling you all this as a survivor of stress! Stress Kills and during these times do what i am doing! Focus on your health - Its free. Help those who are having problems cooping with these times - Its free! Look around the house and finish a project that you started and have not finished. Turn off the dang TV!
I played Monopoly last night with my two teanagers, Was a blast. No Tv No PHones -
I currently am losing about 8-15k a week in my business, I will survive this - But one thing for sure I will not let the stress of it Kill me! Been there got a break once, No reason to chance it again
These are the facts
Waking a sleeping Giant.....
The reports are that the truckers are getting supplies to the stores.
People are stocking the shelves all night and letting old people shop first.
Carnival Cruise line told Trump “We can match those big Navy Hospital ships with some fully staffed cruise ships”
GM said hold our cars and watch this; we can make those ventilators where we were making cars starting next week.
Women and children are making homemade masks and handing out Snacks to truckers.
Restaurants and schools said, We’ve got kitchens and staff; we can feed kids.”
Churches are holding on-line services and taking care of their members and community.
NBA basketball players said, “Hold our basketballs while we write checks to pay the arena staff.”
Construction companies said, “Here are some masks for the medical staff and doctors”.
Breweries are making sanitizer out of the left-over ingredients.
We thought we couldn’t live without Baseball, NASCAR, NBA or going to the beach, restaurants or a bar. Instead, we’re trying to keep those businesses open by ordering take-out.
What communist China didn't count on was America saying "Hey, hold my beer and watch this."
I think a Japanese Admiral in the middle of the Pacific said it best in 1941, "I think we have awakened a sleeping giant."
Give us a few more weeks (maybe months) and we will be doing much better! Look at your community and the activities going on!

Definitely do not regret a thing. Best decision I have ever made. I only wish I would have done it sooner.

I have not heard of PCOS being resolved by surgery. Type2 diabetes yes. I have PCOS and was told I would have it util menopause. I was taken off Metformin right after surgery. I still have PCOS.

JohnTaylorsFan reacted to Kimberly3 in How are the October 19 people doing?
I'm doing pretty good. Down 42lbs. Reduction in my blood pressure meds. I'm sleeping poorly though since surgery. My energy and stamina have increased greatly. I see my surgeon next week. Had blood work done today.

10/28 sleeve, down 50 since surgery, about 104 since I started my own journey in July. I hit a mini stall and then upped my exercise. That did it for me.
